If I understand you correctly you want to change your mains name when you transfer. If so then yes, first create a character with the same name (if it's not already taken) on the destination server, then transfer your main.

It will reset, yes. Always when dropping one crew skill for an other you have to start from the beginning.

It won't be available after 1.2. They may bring it back some time in the future but not for a very long time what I understand.

You already have the crew skills that goes with artifice and cybertech. If you don't want another crafter pick whatever you want, perhaps diplomacy for some light/dark side bonus points..?

You could "cheat" a little, chose dark side option then press escape before the conversation is finished (a little risky though). If you want a long term answer I guess you have to wait for somebody to give it here.

You can also get one-time use missions for every crewskill that has missions.

This have never made sense why there aren't any craftable shields for assassins/shadows. Every other tank class can get a crafted one.
