The event is still occurring and I have apparently reached the maximum amount of reputation for the week, but the event is only a week. How can I achieve "friendly" status if I can't get more reputation?

I'm a Jedi Sentinel and I can't beat Valis. I am not the best at beating bosses and using interrupts so my strategy is to gain more levels and come back. Do PvP matches give your player experience as well as valor? Also is there any fast way to gain experience besides side quests. I have done most of them already and the ones I missed don't give me anymore experience because I am too high level.
