  1. WARNING! Spoilers and lengthy! That's put pretty succinctly. Personally, I find the question of scope to be a big one. The thing that got confusing was that Zakuul was somehow a threat to the entire galaxy. It was a bit hard to even think that a secret empire even had the forces from a single planet. Now, I understand that the Empire of Zakuul might actually be larger than the single throneworld we're told about but the thing is, there's no concrete mention of that. The solution sounds very small and mundane but here it is: A codex entry goes a long way. Now, personally I pushed some of my characters towards the Alliance but even with that, the scope of the alliance just isn't ironed out, either. Yes, I understand you can grow it but are we to understand that a single fleet is all the Alliance has? Or is the Alliance just purely administrative and about the same in scope as the UN -- politically powerful but in terms of actual armed forces quite minimal? One of the biggest things I've noticed is that... in large part, the Alliance is ignored in roleplay for all the aforementioned reasons. I've always been a staunch supporter of a third faction but in this, the OP's points tend to get more noticeable. I quite liked how the Star Fortresses involved growing the resistance; it showed that the Alliance could indeed be bigger simply by bringing in resistance forces but also -- say, within the Empire and Republic, couldn't we get more to come out of the woodwork? Other than simple choice personnel, couldn't we also find contacts that rallies whole factions to the commander's side? It would certainly be good at pointing out the many grievances that separate groups have with their factions. Jorgan's leaving of the Republic to join you was great for painting out how bad the Republic's gotten. I think much more could be thrown in. Small things are what breeds interest in roleplay! Best of luck!
  2. So one of the things I'm most frustrated with this game is trying to install it on another computer. Let's say I want to install it to an entire fleet of computers for a netcafe or a gaming club. The best I can do is use my DVDs and hope the launcher doesn't fail. Worse, it requires logging in to do it. For the sake of time efficiency I suggest having a better way to install things. People want to play. I discovered that in my club there's 5 others who picked up the game. I suggest a torrent to help with distributing a more complete all-in-one install. Thoughts?
  3. Nope. But I did find it. Or, I should say, a very thorough member of the roleplaying community found it. It's in a roleplaying book called "Tales of the Jedi Companion". Props to him!
  4. The pic of him working on it in the wiki is the exact same as the one on the Files magazine it was a part of.
  5. True. However, that same prominence is what makes it so annoying. You'd think that it would referenced somewhere, but it's not. Part of me's nagging that it's in my collection, somewhere and I've just glossed over it. But I'd love it if someone found it.
  6. So on one of the roleplaying communities I'm a part of, discussing many concepts when it comes to Jedi is about as expected as it can ever get when it comes to building and maintaining a character. Over the course of community events in in-character interactions, one of the things that gets hotly debated is the Jedi code itself. The version that all are familiar with is this one, it begins with: "There is no emotion, there is peace." Here's the thing. You take those words and the rest of the code and it feels so wrong. Its interpretation goes out of control when left in the hands of a community that idly speculates on what it can and might mean. The truth, however, is that there's many sources that actually go into explaining each tenet of the Jedi code and each part that a Jedi is supposed to hold. Now here comes the challenge. In any difficult debate -- when it comes to what the Jedi were and what they are now vs what they are in the future? This variant of the Jedi code crops up -- it begins with "Emotion, yet peace." In a recent debate, the wording of it is key to the body of our arguments but one sharp member of the community pointed out one thing I have yet been able to answer. It's this. It's driven me nuts trying to disprove because I could have SWORN I saw it somewhere. Yet, when reading through my materials I couldn't find it. And before you ask? Yes, I'm aware it's on http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jedi_code, but look through the references. I don't see any of them that actually openly state that particular version of the code. Now I may be limited -- I do not own everything Star Wars. But for any who might be more knowledgeable than I, I ask of you. Please, enlighten me. Where can this original version be found? To be clear! I am not asking for thoughts on the interpretation of the Jedi code. I've seen it discussed over and it's done to death, rather, I'm seeking proof of a particular piece that has thus far eluded me.
  7. power/surge. Don't bother with surge augments-- you're harsh into diminishing returns. You can decide between power and strength augments -- me personally I prefer strength. The difference is marginal. And yes -- standard Vindicator PvP set. You're using a DPS spec -- it really only makes sense that you use a DPS set to go with it.
  8. After having to regear myself (again, this time as a merc instead of commando), just not feeling it. After so many attempts to get accustomed to it -- on the parser? /signed. (I know. Late. But...)
  9. Can it. No, all our interaction is done on our own community server -- gav-daragon.enjin.com I know a few others have given the link to it and I get the feeling that some people thought it was them trying to push some kind of fad, but seriously the site itself is monitored by the GMs of GD. We all talk there and as a tight-nit bunch; all Guild leaders speak to one another in some form despite varied dispositions. Checking that site is your best bet to see where GD stands. This whole "Gav Daragon was against mergers" thing isn't even remotely true. Anyone who says otherwise speaks for a dysmal minority. Just give it a quick check; you'll have GD's thoughts in a nice summary -- because no matter what any single member posts here you'll have some other loud voices saying a bunch of stuff that detracts from the point. Good luck, guys.
  10. Many of us top-end PvPers from GD would love the competition. And we'd love to bring you guys something to think about. Unfortunately, with the latency, no matter what we do our ability to do those clutch/amazing tricks that always leave people's mouths wide ( at 4:26 if you want a sample -- this was a while back) will always be a bit behind. And our top-end PvPers are actually thinking of abandoning ship. That isn't to say we will -- personally it'll be good to see who's still here from last I was here before APAC servers opened up (I know Consular's still around); but I'll go with my brothers and sisters. Edit: Is Riggsen still around? Vanguard? Dude was an aussie as well but I know he decided to stick around rather than transfer to APAC servers.
  11. Hi guys, thought I'd chime in. I'm from Gav Daragon and just thought I'd bring it to light that the recent news has rocked us as well. In saying that -- while I hope you guys succeed, quite a fair few of the GD community have resigned ourselves to our fates; quite a few of us are already actively looking for other places to go. We all still play though, but most of us would rather spend time trying to enjoy the time we have left playing on the character we have and like -- and the reluctance that many of us might have from joining you will still persist -- lack of legacy and "alt support" will stymie any desire to aid you. Our loyalty, first and foremost, is to each other. While you're right -- we are passionate and loyal. But our already fractured communities were further scattered by this news. I won't speak for the GD community at large -- but I can attempt to bring what you're doing to attention. Keep up with us and try to sell the point yourselves on gav-daragon.enjin.com. On a lighter note -- I don't suppose you guys will rename your domain name from zer0ping to 300ms? I'm awful. I know.
  12. Personally I'd be glad to return "home" (BC was where I started -- and apparently a lot of Sun Guard's oldbies who've left the game). I got in touch with a few people who're still around about a month ago. However with the outcry, it's getting hard to see what will come in the future for playing this game. If we do stick around -- and this does happen, it'll be fun times before we all move on (seriously! I miss my old community.).
  13. Okay. This has been tossed up before -- and before we get too into it understand this -- I play all aspects of the game -- I kid you not, PvP, PvE and RP. And yes I really mean RP in the same sense that the RPers who've been getting vocal about being against merges. I'm going to say this -- the RP population? An extreme minority within a minority. The RP community isn't all that large. Furthermore, majority of the RPers? Don't actually quite care. After conversing with each one -- even the ones who aren't vocal on the forums, some are even FOR merged servers. The main reason why people want RP servers: maturity and retarded names. The thing is? Even then, we STILL don't get those -- and the names? We're lucky if they get enforced. We still get "Snakesurprise Inyourpants" or "**** the <insertgenitalshere>puncher". Maturity? Well we call our server "Gav Dramagon" for a reason. I'm going to assume you can draw the conclusions. But let's do the hard numbers. My nightly Teamspeak numbers from 7-15 people. Out of the 15, 5 RP. All of us PvP and at least 12 of us PvE. Out of the 5 RPers, 4 were for mergers -- the last was indifferent because for him, he was member of several progression groups so he had what he needed. After hearing the news, I login to TS and already I'm hearing the raging. This is at 11 AM in the morning for us -- on a Tuesday. Normally, this amount of people (8) don't login until late afternoon but the news spreads fast and here we are. Now something else to understand -- I've always been for merge/transfers -- that is, one or the other. I understand the frustrations that the RPers would feel (but personally, I've always felt it was naysaying because our server is still actually quite bad in terms of enforcing the darn ruleset). But trying to be a better person, I say to support transfers instead because I know that the majority of people aren't gonna' stick around to make a couple of RPers (some of whom are even) happy and you know -- fair enough. Why force people to stick around when they really don't want to? What the hell am I getting at? Well, merging us to US servers? Probably one of the worse moves you can make. One of the major selling points that keeps us APAC players here is... APAC servers. Low ping. It's why we've had the gall to suffer having a low population for this long. Why we've done everything we can to stick it out -- why we as a server we came together (gav-daragon.enjin.com). Out of the people who're currently online, majority have already declared their intention to leave. The hard numbers you're looking at? Chances are you ticked off more people by doing this than simply merging us. The RPers? Minority within the minority -- I said it before. Had merges happened over this, you would have had a healthy community and worst case scenario -- you lose all the RPers. The truth is, many of the RPers would come around. The best move, in my opinion and I'm sure quite a few here might agree is that you merged our servers and when transfers became available, offer it for free (or paid, seriously I doubt it makes too much of a difference at this juncture). The truth about RPing? You don't need to be subscribed. You are not making use of whatever functions you get by being subscribed so if you're an avid, hardcore RPer? You're actually cheating yourself. But from the money point of view? I'm going to assume that 2+2 is still equal to 4. We're on Gav Daragon (if I didn't make that clear).
  14. I can see what the Op is suggesting and yes I'm well aware of class balance. The concept itself isn't too bad -- the actual details he's proposed would of course need a polish (20% armor to shadows/assassin tanks of course is just ridiculous; nerf it down or put it into... I dunno, a fat 5% internal/elemental resistance [that's really fat]) . As far as I can see though... I don't think it's warranted. Consider the PvE and PvP bonuses... the PvP set bonuses are actually quite flexible and usually bind themselves to skills you use in every tree of the same role, where as PvE set bonuses are specialized towards that specific role. So the gear itself is its own motivation. People can make hybrids in PvP as much as they like... it's already been said that it just offers a different play style.
  15. If we get either a merge/transfer, you can expect a lot of us are going regardless of how things are on Gav Daragon. Some of us are even RPers -- myself included. I personally would like to see the potential people we have... and no I'm not going to run around just doing RP; even here our RP is planned around PvP nights and progression raids of different people and guilds (usually that means that we only have 2-3 days where we can get together). The last two weeks for example have been especially hectic -- but the last RP we had is so memorable that I even wrote a summary on it and all participants are keen on advancing the plot. Here's a taste.
