  1. I fear of cross server queues. I hope they never implement it to either GSF or WZs. It destroys much of PvP community.Suddenly people you fight with/against are no longer friends and enemies you love, hate or love to hate. Just hundreds of names. Fights grow less meaningful. People stop caring about winning and losing. People gain more perceived anonymity and stop worrying about their reputation. As result, people turn to insufferable ******es in Ops chat. It makes WZs turns from war within community to war against what you begin considering as bots. The above is as accurate way to describe WoW's transformation to Xrealm queues in PvP as I can manage. I wonder about this. I hope re-vitalize equals content, additions. It has an echo of a little empty buzzword. It could well translate to "one dev pulling few levers in some equivalent of .ini file " Which I bet is much better than 0 devs adding lines to 0 ini files but.. Conteeent!! More content! Please god!! New maps, new ships, new ship types, new game modes, PvE, GSF themed storylines I want it all!!
  2. I'm sure I'm not only one who is gradually abandoning identity of a Sith or Jedi or Agent or whatnot..and, instead, embracing the glorious delights of being a full fledged Star Fighter pilot. GSF&TOR don't provide great deal in terms of raw content or immersion for such beautiful life. Bits and pieces of such life is there though, for you to live, find asnd enjoy! Let us list those bits and pieces. Just to clarify, this thread is mostly about immersion and atmosphere. Nothing said here is very " practical" or something that directly makes you better at making things explode in space. Add stuff!! List those small, odd things you do to make your GSF life in TOR more fun and atmospheric for yourself. Let's talk about art of making SW:TOR less about SW:TOR and more about enhancing it into moody nice huge 200 million costing lobby area for GSF. Some of my favorite stunts; * if you queue from guild ship, you get a nice atmospheric " return to fleet" cut scene after each GSF game. Just like you used to in X-wing/Tie Fighter! * Interfleet transport area on both sides features nice selection of Scouts and Strike Fighters. Queue up here if you wanna /touch your ship! * If you were a subscriber when GSF went to early launch, you got Pilot outfit in mail. Of course you -must- wear this! You can buy even cooler looking suit for Fleet commendations at..fleet. * Not immersion as much as quality-of-life but..there probably is a custom channel named GSF on your home server. /Cjoin GSF to join it! If it isn't there, create it. Ask people to join it in OPS chat before/after a game. Maybe you got the gist of it. List yours!
  3. This is bit OT but.. This being a video game, Gameplay enhances the story and story enhances the gameplay. They are not 2 seperate, isolated things. I've never seen instanced level cap group content that, game play-wise, was as irrelevant and meaningless as The Rakata FP. None of the fights there require anything from the group. There are no fights to learn, challenges to beat. It is ridiculously easy, simple, straightforward and stupid FP. I'm assuming nobody in history of SWTOR has ever seen a group fail there. Ok, so Bioware wants literally everybody to be able to experience it. From your 5 year old kid brother to 95 year old grandmom, everybody must be able to finish he flashpoint (revan omg whoa) without any difficulties at all. Great. Gameplay-wise, place basically feels like a tutorial to video games. It is very difficult for anyone who has reached lvl cap in this game to feel like game wasn't assuming they are extremely bad players. Good luck selling a story of "omg big stuff happens" in that environment. Rakata FP is a setting for stories like " Now, press W to move forward..good job. Can you reach that circle?". It is not a place where it feels you should experience anything relevant. There is no game to be played in it.
  4. Boy do I have awesome news for you pal. It is a character you have created. Character you play. As such, his/her life and history is for you to create if you want to. If you rather settle with a story that comes down to picking between three different things Jennifer Hale has said in a studio, then ofc that's fine too. Don't assume many people who'd appreciate profiles are that eager to share your POV though. It is odd people are so eager to do some weird precautionary bashing of these yet-to-exist-profiles. At heart of these criticism seems to be the alleged&imagined lack of originality of these profiles. Somehow, you consider it a - better - option then, to have a world where there are few million troopers all living the SAME story? "Hey! I am the leader of the Havoc Sqd!" " Omg! Me too!!" Cool bit in ability to write a profile isn't about entire community creating some Dostojevski meets GRRM experience to meet up your evidently demanding tastes. Underlying reason for them existing isn't about providing you with some Hugo award winning prose to enjoy. What counts is how they are stories of and by you and people close to you. This alone gives them meaning and relevancy that elevates it miles above the default storylines.
  5. I wonder if it takes some sort of a submissive personality to automatically assume and accept that whole story and tale of **your character** is actually nothing but creation of Electronic Arts and nothing more. "Wellp, they wrote this line of dialogue and then Jennifer Hale spoke it out loud so I guess that's my story now" lol
  6. You clearly don't understand how significant portion of the playerbase of this MMO does not consider Dialogue Wheel and cheesy, bloated storyline after another as some sort of core part of their experience. It is easy to understand Bioware's reasoning behind races. They chained themselves pretty completely to the full VA; Each race needs to fit the dialogue. Since each voice actor does his/her part with human in mind, each race needs to pass as something that sounds human. It makes perfect sense. And my god, does it make boring races. Blue skinned humans, green skinned humans, blind humans, humans wearing eye glasses, humans with nose rings..woo hoo. There is hardly any otherness or color to the races in this game. We are speaking of your characters in an MMO for cryin out loud. Stop worrying about how pre-recorded VA bits where you talk to NPCs go. lol.
  7. Heheh Do realize there are MMORPGs released somewhere around dawn of Internet that have handled character profiles/bios perfectly well. World of Warcraft has number of fan-made addons that handle this just fine. http://www.penandshield.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ada-mrpdescription.jpg This is approx how it could look like in TOR, too. This is an unofficial, fan made add-on. I quite like it what a good profile tells of characters..and players. It'd be a huge boon for RP community, less relevant for the rest.
  8. Yeah. Both GSF and WZs would do well to get integrated to game bit better. Convert weekly quests into repeatable weekly stories. Or hell, convert stories of 4 x weekly to a monthly story. Bit like titanfall does storylines. Give player characters actual hangars for GSF. Places where you can climb inside the ships you've bought. You can see those Quad lasers you just unequipped being lifted off your fighter. You can see your stats on the wall, medals in your closet. Etc. Turn GSF (and WZs I guess!) into more..solid part of game than just icon you click.
  9. Hmp, I'm somehow saddened to hear this! Tho I'm sure there are plenty of good reasons behind the decision. More than anything, it is great to hear Tie Corps are still in air in one game or another! . Being from Finland and mostly GSF player, I kinda fear playing on US serv would have too much lag in store. Even so, I think I throw an application your way in case you guys consider accepting utter casual alts to guild.
  10. 1) This thought appears appealing to a very small niche who like as not are doing GSF already anyway. Imho even they are misguided in missing it. I think majority of Joystick's appeal in arcade is about immersion. IMHO it'd take a cocpit to " take you there". Some kind of a bird's eye to ship with joystick feels..not bad, but completely unnecessary. I miss Joystick like I'd miss a wheel when playing some motorbike sim. ie not much. Significant portion of playerbase hasn't even seen a joystick in their lives. Hardly anyone owns em anymore. I much enjoy GSF flight engine. I really can't see how they'd throw in a proper joystick support while keeping mouse an appealing, relevant and enjoyable option. 2) Naah. Never nerf anything unless you absolutely must. People who worked hard enough for their ships one day wake up to find they've been turned to ****? No. Always a bad call. Giving more people an easier and faster access to good stuffs is much better. 3) 100% Agree on this. Maybe turn it into a waiting lobby or such for the games while at it. Ie, when you enter queue you have an option to go there, if you like. Not necessary to be in queue to access it. No opposing faction. Just nodes or something to target and shoot at. Pref. something moving too. Best way to increase it's appeal, beyond obvious stuff like making it more rewarding (Credits,Fleet reqs, tokens, Wz tokens, etc), would have to be in -and through- integration. Small, atmospheric things that make it a firmer part of what you do in the game. - Integrate GSF daily&weekly to number of small, repeatable, spoken quest chains. Cause for some reason, majority of ppl playing this game seem to think dialogue wheels and talking heads are best things since ever. Don't ask me why. - Throw in cutscenes or animations for leaving/arriving to and from battle. - Actual, literal hangar. Maybe a Stronghold you can buy for fleet reqs or tokens. Ship and equipment you earn appears there. You - see - your Sting in the corner. You - see - the quad lasers in your armory. You can admire medasl/achis you've earned. Stats on the walls.
  11. This is awesome! I'm glad to see even Tie Corps is up and running, missions online and everything. My name is still in roster of Cheth Squadron it seems!*sobs* Does Tie Corps, or EH in general, do much GSF? I think it is possible to view it as some sort of a spiritual successor to, if not Tie Fighter, at least X-Wing Vs Tie.
  12. ** BUMB!** Oh wow. This thread came up as I was googling for Emperior's Hammer for some nostalgy fixes. I remember how long, long time back a snot-nosed kid once flew Tie Fighter missions among ranks of Emperor's Hammer. Tie Fighter was a Single Player game; Emperor's Hammer would design their own missions, send the files to participants. Then people would fly the mission, send the file back. We'd compare and evaluate scores and, how each member and squadron as a whole performed. Folks, This guild makes a branch on a tree that got planted at dawn of Internet. Emperor's Hammer, as an online gaming community, has existed and remained active since 1994. It is older than significant portion of people reading this message. It pays to take a moment to appreciate that.. @Emperor's Hammer You guys have been vivid on my mind these last couple of days. I'm busy setting up an Imperial Fighter squadron on TOR for an RP guild I'm part of. When thinking and designing it, I have all these EH-memories from my early childhood popping. Good times. I'm so happy to hear you live and evolve, after all these years. it is crazy. 07 In infinitely unlikely event somebody of EH's Tie Corps ever reads this.. Do you guys still keep at it? Designing and flying your own missions and so on?
  13. I wonder how much I'd pay for an item that somehow mutes the horrible central fleet cantina elevator bs jazz for all eternity. I find it awesome people PAY MONEY to hear that dung at their strongholds; p
  14. op PLS Wookiee and the Droid would have been cool and interesting. Another Hello,Player. I am here to fall in love with you - lass? Depressing thing is, like 99% of playerbase prolly wants her. Cause it has to be so awesome to get to spin dialogue wheel to some new version of " OMG SHEPARD YOU SO INTERESTING again.
  15. GSF is easily the best, most unique and most entertaining part of the game*. It is the only reason why I'm still here. It can not get enough focus. A.I ships and PvE supplement for it would be awesome, ofc. *With very notable exception of everything fellow player - related, tha is.
