  1. Seems to me you will never be happy then. Try this: Don't live for a game! I have a family and a career, living in any game will not supplant that. I'm not saying you don't excel at life, you might . . . The thing is, I waited a long time for this game to come out after the death of SWG. It is what I expected, a Star Wars skin on a wildly popular game; World of Warcraft. If that wasn't the aim the studios and developers would be wildly stupid. I think what you mean to say is that the studios and developers lacked forward thinking to break out of the box of World of Warcraft and maybe a little SWG. If that is the case I agree. However, with a multi-million dollar pricetag, it is hard to argue making decisions using evidenced indicators of popularity and potential for growth. I think that while KOTOR was popular and the story arcs in this game are interesting it really lacks immersion. A large part of this is due to graphics are sub Star Wars Galaxies and certainly only having the beaten trail to follow. I think Lucas could have better trusted his legacy to Microsoft. I think the BioWare crew had KOTOR blinders on. Fresh thought on a new Star Wars MMO would have been better, or, if not, a polished version of SWG without all of the tweaks to incorporate a wildly popular game (WOW) into an existing game.
  2. Don't be an azzhat! If I were to go by the network monitor, it seems everything should be fine. Network monitor = useless!
  3. My computer is a couple of years old and I get lag in high traffic areas. Now, PvP is almost unplayable. I thought it was my graphics card, I had 512mb memory on that. So I bought a new card with 2 gig memory and it is about the same. The turrett battle is the worst, it's like playing using snapshots of the game, this is with all graphics at the lowest level. I am using a quad-core mobo, 3 gigs of RAM and the updated graphics card with dedicated 2 gig RAM. The only thing I could guess being the problem is my internet connection. Funny how my 10 year old son took one look at SWTOR and said the graphics sucked compared to Star Wars Galaxies. I played that game with launch (2003) hardware, though I did at some point update a graphics card, and the graphics were better. Bioware needs to pull their heads out!
  4. Balance out your class based quests with PvP. Actually, everytime you see the pyrmid above an NPCs head, go talk to them. Usually you can get good XP and credits on your way to and during your class objective. PvP will net you anywhere from 6000 to 13000 XP and around 2000 credits. Winning side gets more XP. There have been several times where I am just short of the next level and 20 or so minutes of PvP get me past it.
  5. Bind your (F) functions keys to the defaults and then bind your second row to 1 through +/=.\ Also enabling left or right slots will help, I suggest right slots since during PVP you can't really keep track of the cool-down timers.
  6. If it weren't for the story lines this would be a huge failure. The graphics are poor compared to SWG, that was my 10 year old son's assessment. The PvP will get tired very quick, the only thing to achieve is on a personal level, great like any MMO needs chalky fat adults pwning anything! The GUI is hands off for customization, game gods know what we want better than the people playing the game. The chat system is crap/useless unless you are constantly checking it! I beta'd this game as an ongoing tester, I'm not sure if I'll stick around purely because the chat and GUI. I enjoy the PVP, but it was a hell of a lot better in SWG where it didn't take a sanctioned bus trip to kill someone. I remember days of going overt and running around just to stir things up. I have to say that the story lines are compelling and fun to 'choose your own adventure' But I see real problems a couple months down the road.
  7. Wow, there has to be a virgin award in there somewhere!
  8. Try defragging your c drive (or whichever drive SWTOR is on) also take another look at your firewall settings.
