  1. I played Star Wars Galaxies for several years, beta tested the "combat upgrade" and quit playing regularly after the NGE (though occasionally jumped in to play my Master Musician Wookiee who could become one with the Force and turn blue glowie). I then jumped into WoW and got into that well enough, until yeah - raid burnout. I do think your perspective on MMO's is just one of a "been there, done that" sort of thing. I'm at that point, too. I see the posts on this forum and see myself several years back. Bugs were a tragic issue. I demanded responses by Devs to acknowledge my problem/existence (rarely did happen - rarely ever does to anyone - they're busy working ussually). I do agree with you that the hardcore will find things lacking in the state of the game and they'll want to show how awesome they are in some way - and there isn't a way right now to do that. Things are still getting fleshed out. Things will always be getting fleshed out, it's an MMO. And bugs aren't really that tragic - except for people who can't login, hit Play on the launcher, or are stuck on Taris. That kind of stuff IS tragic for a game, but again not unusual at launch anymore for any PC game. Bioware will need to add some level of hardcore shiny brass ring here somewhere - because I didn't enjoy throwing a million grenades at womprats (or whatever they were) to finally become a Jedi in SWG. But it kept me subscribing!
  2. Quest content is rather repetitive. The environment is lushly decorated and created. The quest content is not as inspired at times, though. I've already seen so many holograms or appearance of characters holding their gut, saying their last words, or being killed/dying as they just get out what you need to know for the quest. About the only variation was a cop who was holding their gut, but wouldn't give up their post, so you had to arrest a criminal for them. At least they didn't drop dead just as they told me what I needed to know.
  3. I can't imagine trying to create textures and skins for Ithorians, Wookiees, Mon Calamari, etc etc etc. The "all human shapes" is for not having to recreate every item multiple times over, just so each race can use it and it will look normal. The Twileks have had their share of troubles with their lekku. That's because it's dramatically different from the human skin. I suspect that in time, other races will become available, and at each implementation all of their associated gear will then be added to the loot table and quest rewards. I do think it would be more Star Warsy if there were more races playable, but it's a bit impractical from a development standpoint - it makes you have to do the same work several times over. SWG found out how complex this got after awhile.
  4. QFT. It also took a long, long time for them to design, develop, and implement.
  5. This whole thread was over when "neutral rewards are going to be added" was said. The rest is a whole lot of debate over the system reflects real life, or whether it should, none of which applies to the fact that right now, choosing all light or all dark is the way you get rewards right now. As for me, my Jedi will be Light. My smuggler will choose whatever he feels like. My Sith will be Dark. I don't bend the story to fit my character, I decide my character will be Light Side, or Dark Side, or somewhere in between depending on the situation, and follow the path the game then sets before me.
  6. You get less points in a definitive direction.
  7. "Eventually will be added" has kept all MMO's alive for a very long time. It is the essence of an MMO. If there were nothing more that could be added, THEN the MMO will close down, because the Devs are either not creative enough, or lazy, or they are not given the resources needed to do stuff.
  8. No matter the game or situation, you cannot get people to behave as you want or dictate. Deal with it?
  9. Letting her go means that you're allowing corruption to continue. That's a very dark side thing to do. Outing her is the right thing to do, hence the Light side points. The Padawan was supposed to fail. His shortcomings were well known. That is what his Master says. He should not have allowed you to intervene/disrupt his trial. Telling the truth is the Light side choice because you shouldn't be deceptive to a Jedi Master, nor shield a Padawan from their fair consequences. The budding romance is a very easy Light or Dark side choice to make - the Jedi forbid attachment. Their romance has no place in the Jedi Order. One with Dark side tendencies would allow it to continue and lie to the Masters that sent you on the mission. If your goal is to amass enough Light/Dark points for gear, then follow those choices and the path they lead you down. You can certainly make up the difference using Diplomacy or something. I think many of the Light/Dark choices are squarely due to Light or Dark side of the Force philosophy, NOT necessarily "good or bad."
  10. Yeah, it kind of just comes down to that. The mechanics mean that if the respawn is slow, you get punished when people just run by you fighting and take your shiny. It's really best to just forget about that concept of honor or whatever, it's an MMO, and if you're polite then you set an example. If others are not polite, move along or wait for a respawn.
  11. How do you know the queue is bugged? The queue will only go down when a slot opens up for you (or someone else) to take.
  12. Just because they assigned your guild a server doesn't mean you HAD to join that server. Your guild could go to any server, ours did, because we didn't like the server assigned to us.
  13. For all the time being spent on the forums and in queues, you'd think by now anyone could have spent that time just rerolling a character and moving on. I'm sure they'll get this all sorted out. But it's not the best use of anyone's time: 1. Griping on forums 2. Threatening to quit 3. Waiting in 3-4 hour+ queues
  14. Yep - I agree - don't worry about it. Your actual product code will be on the game box, or emailed sometime soon. All that has gone out so far is the pre order code.
