  1. This one times 100. There are some *amazing* gunship pilots on SS (like the "bacon" person...those of you who fly on Satele probably know the variants of who I'm sure is the same super good GS pilot). But there's a really easy way to just make them miserable: make them move. If there's any kind of GS nest, you need to circle around them and hit them from the side. The thing about gunships is, if you let them stay parked and slugging away, your team goes kasplodey. But if you shake them and make them actually try and dogfight, they're really squishy and fun to blow up. If you challenge them head on, you have to be really erratic in your approach and jink side to side and up and down so that when they pop off their shot they miss. It really doesn't matter if there's one super good GS pilot, or a bunch of them. Once you learn how they fly, they're pretty easy to counter.
  2. Even though I'm a dedicated SS player and I love my little server (mostly because I've been merged into it over the course of like...a lot of merges) I would concur with Drakkolich. Quite a few friends have left SS for SF because of the higher population. That said, we're pretty nice and super fun on SS, so if you're patient....
  3. I'm pretty much a GSF addict I've talked to buckets of people about GSF and why they don't like it and don't play it, and the most common thing I hear is that the learning curve is super steep and discourages people from taking the time to learn and master ships (and hence be a bit more competitive.) Bioware made great strides on this with their last round of GSF tweaks, but I think a lotta players are still stung on this point. A bunch of us on the GSF forum have said an easy way to overcome this would be to just give players the ability for free flight on all of the maps, with all of the ships. Let them practice flying, toggling power buttons, and spitting missiles at things. In an ideal world there would be a PvE mode as part of this, but for now just the empty maps I think would be super good. From the perspective of a GSF vet, I'd say only having two game modes, and four maps, makes it kinda boring after awhile. Don't get me wrong - I still love flying - but if there was more diversity I think players would stick with it for longer. You can def get a feeling of, "same ol' same ol' if you've been flying long enough.
  4. I would absolutely LOVE this! Granted, the current customizations are super cheap on the CM, but any added options would be so awesome Make it happen BW!
  5. Also still here Though I have gone through chunks over the years of not being here.
  6. Do you have enough pancakes for the rest of us?
  7. Lots of awesome suggestions that I won't repeat My list of "BW don't you DARE!" : keep up completely confusing the lore of the Galaxy. The original launch stories, and even the RotHC/SoR/Ziost expansions actually filled the Galaxy with life. But now? Who the heck is in charge of everything? If Tython and Korriban got trashed, have they rebuilt? Is there even a Dark Council of Jedi Council any more? add more super-weapons/super-fleets/super-anythings. It is just plain lazy, deus ex machina storytelling. If we're going back to war, let it be an actual war spring random, high-impact story events on us without *ANY* sort of warning. You have in-game mail, holo terminals, and more companions and contacts than anyone wants. It still baffles me how the heck Iokath just jumped out of nowhere and hey! It's a warzone between the entire Galaxy!
  8. Nope Source: Me. I've been around since before launch, and have had Alexandra and Meagan since, as well as a few other normal-ish names (Medley, Sariyah, Consonance, Libretta, Inivera). From what I remember from waaaaaaay back in the day, the only names that were not allowed (as several others have pointed out) were existing Star Wars character names. Post-launch, BW was SUPER aggressive with responding to player-reported name violations, which no doubt added barrel-fulls of other names to the taboo list. Most of those were copyright-ish ones from other franchises (Hulk, Hermione, etc.)
  9. A whole bunch of us, who call this server home, got together tonight to take a bunch of group photos as a "one last hurrah!" before the server smush: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xexxzz4zl8k5lzOG2 I've called BC home ever since the last...three or four server smushes, and I am so thankful for everyone here. Even though the name might change, we will always be Begeren Colony
  10. Hiya Devs... Question: on Begeren Colony we have both IC and OOC chat channels, as well as our beloved /GSF channel. Will these have to be recreated after the merge?
  11. Hi lovelies, Welcome to Begeren Colony! If you're new here, or a vet who's a little adrift, you're actually on the best RP server in the little galaxy we call home. We have a thriving RP community, and if you're looking for a guild, a bunch of amazing community-run plots, or just a bunch of crazies to hang out with, bookmark http://begerencolony.org/ - it's the heart of the server's RP community. And in game, type /cjoin republicooc if you're Pub-side, or /cjoin imperialooc if you're Impsie-side. Oh! And if you really want to be punched in the Star Wars, queue for GSF and no matter what side you're on, type /cjoin GSF and join us in one of the best parts of this lovely little game...
  12. YOU GUYS! I love "Star Wars Rebels"...it is my favourite Star Wars of all time, though it's close to the "Lost Stars" novel. I just created another Jedi Knight to relive the story, and noticed a really familiar voice from one of the NPCs. Master Bela Kiwiiks, Kira Carsen's Master. So I did a little IMDB digging, and it turns out that the voice actress is... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0551223/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t296 Vanessa Marshall! It's Space Mom! So while my title is a little misleading, I was really happy to hear her voice...especially given what's about to happen in "Rebels" season 4...
  13. Don't worry, while I'm still tremendously intrigued, I too am getting a little tired with the "traitor" speculation BUT! I found an interesting piece of (maybe) information. I think most of us originally went through the KotET story months ago, and because our mails get deleted after a certain period of time I'm not sure if anyone remembers the barrage of notes you get after completing the story. Well, I've just taken my *fourth* Empress through the story, and have just finished reading all the mails. The last one you receive is from "The Scions of Zakuul". It starts like most of the others that you get, all congratulatory with a bit of foreshadowing, but the last part of the Scions mail reads: "We have seen the past and future collide. You stand guard at the gates of madness, at the center of the maelstrom. It is there we will meet again in your hour of need." Brace yourself, Outlander. Emphasis added but...what do you all think?
  14. This x100. As someone who only started playing GSF a couple of months ago, I have to agree - getting repeatedly space-murdered made me a *way* better pilot. Trial by fire, and all that
  15. 'Morning Gents, Aside from a few balance issues, the biggest knock against GSF seems to be the steep learning curve for new pilots, which seriously discourages them from playing and queuing regularly after the introductory mission. The next patch should help with gearing them more appropriately than it is now, but still... The super good pilots on Begeren have one thing in common that gives them a really big advantage in both TDM and domination: they know the maps, know where all the boosts are, and most importantly are experts at using the various obstacles to either get away from sticky situations or get the jump on opposing pilots. Let's face it: the tutorial level is pretty weak. So what if the Bioware Gods opened up the GSF maps for exploration as part of the tutorial? No rewards or anything, but I think having the ability to just fly around Denon or Kuat learning the environment without being shot at would definitely help them. And for us regular pilots? It would be so much fun to just fly around, explore and practice while waiting for a pop. What do you all think?
