  1. Perhaps a little far removed from the level of humanoid we've expected from romanceable companions but he is a sentient being who has some semblance of personal agency, and therefor has the capability to entertain a romantic relationship- if not a somewhat twisted one. In fact if this is true, I'd take it as a good sign- this means they're willing to expand the horizons of what models are or are not acceptable for romance, which could mean there's a future in less human player races. Or at the very least, more romanceable aliens. Anyway, it might seem odd but I really wouldn't say it's out of the ballpark- we've certainly seen odder couples..
  2. It read as primarily facetious to me. I don't think anyone here is in disagreement that it's bizarre and kind of inappropriate, lore-wise, for the first Imperial personnel bundle to be comprised almost entirely of aliens. If you go to any Imperial outpost, any Imperial spacedock, any planet under Imperial control, you're going to notice that the NPCs present there are overwhelmingly human. And if they aren't, they're purebloods- typically Sith. The Empire is canonically notable for its strict sense of class/race hierarchy. A hierarchy upon which humans sit at the top, and if not, they share a seat with purebloods. Anyway I personally think that it would be most productive to simply make an Imperial personnel pack comprised of humans and perhaps a few purebloods, and later introduce one dedicated specifically to aliens. The Republic could have an additional pack to match. Pockets of bigotry are inevitable in any large group of people. This isn't indicative of any mainstream mentality in the Republic by any stretch of the imagination. Aliens are still welcomed into the Republic, provided equal opportunities, given a voice in the government, protected by the law just like every other citizen. This is not true for the Empire, which openly shuns aliens from its citizenry and its professional ranks, makes every available opportunity difficult to attain, enslaves them, and often refuses to protect them from harassment and assault. There is a huge difference between these two civilizations, they really can't be compared when it comes to treatment of alien races.
  3. Either way, the onus should not be on the player to figure this out when it should be apparent by the game's display. Even if there's a workaround, this is something that should be fixed.
  4. You know, I've heard other people complain of something like this a while back, and if I recall correctly, it was also an issue with crew skills not awarding the correct points. I avoided crew skills entirely for a while because I didn't want to unintentionally fudge my alignment.
  5. There's no reason to start a new thread when one already exists for a problem that's still a problem. The only time a necro is actually a bad thing is if someone is drudging up old topics that are no longer relevant, or bringing light to issues that have already been solved. Seeing as this is still an issue that needs to be fixed, this thread qualifies as neither.
  6. I know, I meant that some people really hung onto their hate for the character.
  7. I've grown used to underestimating the spitefulness some people hold in their hearts.
  8. That bothers me deeply as well. I feel that flirts should not be a primary dialogue wheel choice- they should appear as an "extra" option, so that people who are eligible but not interested can still have the full range of choices they would otherwise.
  9. I had noticed that before it changed. It was a neat effect, even if it were unintended. It would be nice if they could manage to purposefully implement such an effect across all hairstyles, or perhaps in different patterns/orientations (streaks near the roots or highlights of sorts).
  10. Either you haven't been to college in a long time, or you went to a magical land where college isn't a hell hole of debt, stress and long commutes, unlike me.
  11. I absolutely agree. The romance is intensely heavy handed as it is, and not being able to effectively back out (or more importantly, back out without being forced to go out of character as an absolute dillhole) is hugely important. I was never interested in the romance, but I chose a flirt on my Warrior with Vette in a moment of high spirits because I felt it was very in-character. People flirt- but most of the time, a single humorous flirt doesn't mean "I want to get married and baby proof my ship and adopt children". I had a chance to back out, but trying to do so meant being incredibly rude to Vette and so I went with the vaguer option that ultimately got ignored and now my Warrior is stuck in a relationship he wasn't really interested in, and I have no idea how it got to this. It shouldn't be this complicated, and a single flirt should not lock you in until you decide to emotionally devastate your potential suitor. If you were pursuing a friendship, that would be a dreadful way to handle it- to say nothing of the fact that you will be working together with the companion in a professional environment, going forward. Carrying that kind of baggage would be exceedingly impractical. There's no reason for a character not to have an ability to firmly say 'no' in a polite and respectful way.
  12. They've moved on because there's no content to keep them here. One isn't obligated to be dedicated to a game through thick and thin. As a customer, if they feel they aren't getting their money's worth, then they have every moral right to take their money elsewhere. But that isn't important- what's concerning to me is that it's not just the "cyclical" players that are leaving. A lot of long-time, dedicated fans have been slowly packing up and moving out. People who, a year prior, were willing to stand in defense of and give every ounce of patience to the game. And even among those who are staying around, I have noticed a slow decline in overall passion and a general sense of conceding to the idea that perhaps all is not well. That.. Is not a good sign. I think if WoW's major sin is that it provides too much content to chew through and people burn themselves out, that's a far more workable vice to offering little to no content at all for years at a time. Perhaps if that were SWTOR's biggest issue, we wouldn't be having this discussion, but I digress. It's a shame that things are coming up this way- and I absolutely agree with one of the posters above that if this game wasn't Star Wars, then it would have never been able to survive like this. I just wish EA had gotten the sense to use the IP for maximizing the game, not taking advantage of it as a means to squeeze as much profit possible with as little effort or investment involved.
  13. This is pretty silly but I couldn't help myself. I decided to draw a personification of "Lord Ptach", based on the visual design of the launcher and the SWTOR logo. .. He kind of looks like he's from Naboo, lol.
  14. So far BFA has been very uncoordinated and fractured, yes, but I want you to look at the timestamps on the first few pages of this forum. Compare to SWTOR. There's no way to put these two situations side by side and say the same thing is happening to both.
  15. I would like to see a hair colour or some sort of customization slider that allows the player to add a secondary colour to their hair- this could be useful for giving your character highlights or hair dye, though my primary interest in this would be the ability to give a character the appearance of greying hair. There just aren't many options to give the player character an appearance of distinguished maturity in years, and if this were implemented as simply two-toned hair, it could open up a lot of options for everyone, full stop. I feel it would be a broadly accessible and worthy addition to the character customization function, were it possible. Thoughts?
