  1. Exactly. I believe that Vader had figured out that Luke SKYWALKER was his son LONG before the opening of ESB (especially since the Emperor didn't say "I have not doubt he is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker" until the 2003 DVD Release), thus why he was so determined to find Skywalker on Hoth, and not really all that concerned about finally cornering and eliminating the Rebel Forces. Even if he did desire to recruit such a strong Force-user as his apprentice to overthrow the Emperor (as is the traditional Sith method of succession), he wouldn't have mentioned his attempts to turn him to the Dark Side to the Emperor, but would have tried to turn him secretly... though assuming TFU as canon, Vader has already tried this method and failed (rather recently) so he probably wouldn't try ever again, or at least not for several years later.
  2. I don't recall Master Vandar really using Yoda-speech... even in the TOR Noetlcron he spoke pretty "forwardly". Maybe it's Yoda's specific planet, or nation/region of that planet that is the origin of his so unique dialogue... or maybe he personally just developed it after contemplating and learning from the Force for so long.
  3. As hard as Palpatine tried, Order 66 did not kill off all the Jedi all at once, there were still several spread throughout the Galaxy who weren't involved in the War, and thus were nowhere near any Clone Troopers. This is why the Clones sent out an emergency signal from the Temple alerting all Jedi to return to Coruscant at once... until Obi-Wan and Yoda reprogrammed it instructing the Jedi to stay away, and go into hiding. Therefore Darth Vader spent almost a decade "help[ing] the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights" that were in hiding. Anakin/Vader obviously knew Obi-Wan survived Order 66, and although Palpatine told Vader that he killed Padme, he said nothing about killing her child as well, thus Vader still had a child somewhere. Palpatine most likely knew this, and probably had a secret detachment, that he kept from Vader, to search for the possible young Skywalker. Years without any leads would have led him to abandon the search (as he did with Yoda, whom he knew was still alive).
  4. Just as long as it's not a required part of the story/PvE, I'm fine with it. That was always one of the hardest parts to get past in KotOR (like 3rd hardest to Malak boss-fight), so I'd much rather not HAVE to do it.
  5. Then why were there no Imperial troops sent there to hunt down a "crazy old wizard" and "the offspring of Anakin Skywalker"? ... especially since Anakin knew about his family there (and supposedly Palpatine knew, since Anakin told only him and Padme what he did to the Sand People out of revenge for his mother). The only reason why the Imperials ever did arrive was to find the Death Star plans in R2's computer. Dagobah still makes sense as a hiding place, as the prequels STILL don't explain what connection Yoda has to it, nor why he went there.
  6. xeviltoasterx > There were 2 deleted Shaak Ti death scenes from ROS, the first made it onto the DVD under "Deleted Scenes" (where she is killed by Grevious), but when the whole sequence of Obi-Wan and Anakin cutting through the floor was itself cut and replaced, they re-filmed her death with her trying to protect youngling Jedis during the attack on the temple (I think Anakin was actually supposed to be the one who killed her), but that was also abandoned "for timing/editing purposes". So in one movie, she was supposed to die twice. Wolfninjajedi > NH is 0 BBY, ESB is 3 ABY, and ROTJ is 4 ABY according to GL's own official timeline.
  7. If I remember right, she's a guest companion after you do the Black Sun Mission (or it's WITH the Black Sun). She doesn't become a full-fledged companion until you're about to leave Coruscant.
  8. INSPIRATION!!! ... but unfortunately I'm too busy this brand new game calles SWTOR to make any new videos at this time
  9. Yoda: It wasn't the fact that Luke was going to save Han and Leia, it was the REASON he was going that Yoda was trying to stop him. Luke, like Kira, was demonstrating that he was having trouble with his emotions (up to that point, Luke would really be the worst emotion-controlling Jedi ever, since he had so little training in doing so). Luke was going out of sense of Fear ("the path to the Dark Side"), not out of a sense of Duty, and with a Spirit of Anger and Hate towards Vader/the Empire for putting his friends through such torture. SPOILER: Just like how you get Light Side Points (LSP) for telling Kira that she shouldn't "mess with people's minds" but there are plenty of times when Force Persuade is the best option to prevent violence (she even challenges you about this). It wasn't the FACT that she was "using" Force Persuade, it was her intentions in doing it, and what the end result would be. Obi-Wan: Yes he would have gotten a few DSP for saying "he betrayed and murdered your father" and "your father wanted you to have this, when you were old enough" (though you do get LSP if you lie to Nik on Coruscant), but neither he nor Luke knew that there were Imperial troops ON Tatooine looking for the droids until they came across the Sandcrawler on their way to Anchorhead. Obi-Wan was able to deduce what really happened (Luke still being a simple farm boy, believed the ruse) but didn't know WHY the Imperials attacked just that they did. Luke informs "Ben" that these were the same Jawas that sold them the droids not 60 secs before he realizes the danger's at home... pretty much the same time Obi-Wan would have figured out. Of course Qui-Gon is absolutely the best Movie-example of a "Grey Jedi", so naturally he would be racking up the DSP compared to your typical Jedi. Only 100 DSP for killing your wife and unborn child (attempted to)?!! I would say at least 500 DSP for that, that's basically the darkest you can get. It's easy to kill of thousands and millions of strangers, but to kill those who are most important to you, and the ones you swore to protect.
  10. I won't disagree, but I would like to point out that controlling your Fear is also the Jedi's first lesson in controlling your emotions. So Fear is basically the enemy of all Force-Users.
  11. ... I'm not exactly sure it I'd accept Starkiller as canon... just saying (especially if we include TFU, Shaak Ti' has been killed off 3 separate times since Grievous was made a General). But at any rate, it's best to explain this from an RPG standpoint. Let's say Max Lvl is 50, which would be Palpatine, Yoda is 48, Mace Windu is 45, Obi-Wan (by Ep III) is 37. Minimum for Jedi Master is 35, Anakin was really something like a 31 and had the potential (if he lived to age 70 with all of his limbs still intact) to create a level 55. When he embraced the Dark Side, his anger added 5 Lvls automatically, making him a 36 to challenge Obi-Wan, and did a very good job at it, but his arrogance got ahead of his judgement, and he paid dearly. Now being entirely reliant on robotics just to stay alive, Anakin drops to a Lvl 15, with a +5 Anger bonus to give an even Lvl 20. Palpatine has now lost a huge part of his investment, but since he's killed off all the Force Users that were above Lvl 0, there's no reason to worry. In comes Luke, who, since he's the offspring of a Jedi (according to Original SW Lore), has the potential to become MUCH more powerful than his father's own potential, and at a much faster rate, basically creating a Lvl 60 within the time it takes a normal Jedi to reach Lvl 30 (considering Anakin advanced so quickly, and was expected to continue that trait before his accident)... provided he receives the proper training. Thus Palpatine has legitimate concerns that "he could destroy us". In the event of not "practicing", Obi-Wan has dropped to a Lvl 18, and Palpatine to Lvl 35 by 0 BBY. So the first Luke vs Vader duel, Luke is Lvl 12, facing off a Lvl 20 bc Vader believes by a display of power, and backing Luke into a corner, that his son will embrace the Dark Side. Luke escapes however, and spends a year training to become a full-fledged Jedi at Lvl 15, with an added Lvl in Jabba's Palace. In reflection of Luke's confident words that Vader can return to the Light Side, his Anger Bonus is halved, dropping him to Lvl 18; while Luke's kindled Anger Bonus at the prospect of Leia turning to the Dark Side pushes him to Lvl 21 (16 + 5) and easily defeats Vader. When Vader turns on Palpatine, he obviously succeeds his Strength-check (those servo motors) and his Compassion/Determination Bonus allows him to Crit on his Will-save, thus he's able to toss Palpatine down the Abyss. But yes, in a Revan vs Vader match up, Revan is definitely a Lvl 40 by the time he faces Malak at the end of KotOR, (which is also pretty much where he was when Bastilla erased his memory) so he would have smoked Vader hands down.
  12. Okay, so we know that there are emotions/qualities that are tied to both sides of the Force, the Light Side teaches compassion, mercy, honesty, wisdom, selflessness, while the Dark Side teaches anger, hate, mistrust, betrayal, and the quest for power. Love has largely been forbidden by the Jedi (with exceptions like Anakin, Luke and Revan), but Sith also despise it as it will make the lover weak, and cause him/her to lose sight of their quest for power (this was best explored in KotOR). But what about Fear? In the Original Trilogy, Luke was taught to control his Fear, for both Vader and Palpatine could use it to control him, and eventually turn him. The Prequels teach that "Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate-- leads to suffering". So it is accepted throughout the SW Community that Fear is a Dark Side trait, however the Sith would definitely disagree with that assumption. Darth Vader, in his first duel with Luke said "Obi-Wan has taught you well, you have controlled your Fear. Now, release your anger; only your hatred can destroy me." As a Sith, Vader is applauding Luke for controlling his Fear. Bioware kind of explored this in KotOR in that the Sith who could not control their Fear were "weak" and therefore "disposed of" at the Sith Academy on Korriban. Any thoughts?
  13. I submitted this for the corellianrun.com contest for my Smuggler "So Captain," Corso Riggs started, "how did you ever get into this line of work?" Captain Ra'shala set down her bantha milk, sighed softly, and began: "Well, I was born to Twi'lek slaves Mal'shalek, and Ra'tulia, who were forbidden to marry, but could not contain their mutual passions for each other. When their owner discovered that my mother was pregnant, and my father's identity, he immediately sold him to the Kessel Spice Mines Warden, never to be seen again. When Ra'tulia gave birth to a beautiful blue-skinned daughter, she gave me her surname "Ra" and the feminine version of my father's name "shalek", thus "Ra'shala". With the Great Galactic War underway, and the fast growing Empire paying high prices for trained Twi'lek slaves, my mother was sold to Imperial slavers as soon as she weaned me. My first master spent the credits to get me into the best schools, in an attempt to turn me into the best entertainer both in dancing, conversation, and flirting, so that by the time I was 14, I was all ready to fetch the biggest price tag for a slave so young from the Imperial slavers. "3 years later, my Imperial master, Dirun decided that the dancing and talking weren't enough entertainment from the young Twi'lek, and tried to have his way with me one night. Naturally I resisted and got this cut across my right eye from his vibroknife for disobeying. When I could see again a week later, I had determined that it was time to escape. A month later Dirun decided to try again, but this time I was prepared. Using my flirtation skills, I was able to catch Dirun of-guard, lift his vibroknife, stab him, break into his safe (the combination was tattooed on his thigh) grab as many credits as I could carry, and sneak out of his mansion before anyone knew what had happened. I made my way to the nearest cantina, and offered smuggler Jun Laks all of my credits to get me off the planet, and to keep quiet about it. Laks took pity on me, and offered to hire me on as part of his crew. "Laks taught me how to shoot a blaster, fly and repair light starfreighters, and all the tricks needed to survive on the streets. When the bounty on my head expired 5 years later, I told Laks that I wanted to strike it out on my own. Laks naturally didn't want to lose his best crewman, but he also knew I had to make my own choice, and let me go. I was able to find another light starfreighter, christened her "Freedom's Hope", and started making easy credits. Over the next 2 years I slowly gathered information about my parents and where they might be, but then I took a job running blasters to Ord Mantell... and well you know the rest. That's why I like credits and my ship, but hate the Empire, and women or children in danger."
  14. Well there was that whole situation of Coruscant being overrun with war refugees, and now that it's been about 40 years since the war started, a lot of the refugees have grown up, and started having families of their own, so even if they're not adding to their number from the outside, they're multiplying within as well, so the most ideal solution would be to send them back home... but their home is occupied by the Empire, so the second most ideal option is to send them to a largely uninhabited planet that no one but the Republican Senate has any major claim over.... > Taris. The real question here is why did it take them 300 years to start the Taris Project? While Carth Onasi's home planet (I think it was called Telos?) was decimated even WORSE by Revan (the environment was deemed uninhabitable, while Malak just flattened Taris's city landscape) and the Republic started repairing it like within a decade.
  15. I agree for at least the Prologue of the story, so that you can "go through training then see how the real world works, and respond to it as you see fit." In training, Jedi and Sith Masters would be able to immediately sense your intentions when you lie (Jedi) or confess (Sith), but once you get out into the Galaxy, how many common folk are supposed to sense your emotions? On both sides, they all just naturally assume you will follow your Order's reputation, so they won't question you one way or the other. I also think that if you do develop down the opposite path, that you should be given 1-3 opportunities somewhere around Lvl 45-50 to switch sides. Also, I can see how you could have a Light Sith in this time period, but Dark Jedi doesn't exactly make sense. In-Universe, Dark Jedi are just fallen Jedi that embrace the Dark Side when there is no current organized Sith faction in the galaxy at the time of their fall (e.g. Exar Kun, Kyp Durron, Jacen Solo, and Revan-Malak before they found the Emperor), but since there is an organized Sith faction, as soon as the Jedi who doesn't want to follow the strict Code graduates from Tython, he would make contact with the Sith, officially join them, but act as a spy in the Jedi ranks, reporting back to the Sith. SPOILERS: A Light Sith on the other hand would be an individual that was born from the Sith Empire, forced to train at Korriban, but doesn't desire needless bloodshed, and may show mercy when severe punishment isn't absolutely necessary. JK encounters such a Sith (Pureblood) and has the option of convincing him to join the Jedi Order.
