  1. They still planning to use the same crap engine ie HERO Which cant handle more then 20 people in pvp SWG could handle more players in combat in one area 8 Years ago !!!!
  2. This shows the contempt these companies have . Failed after 6 months and 120 million dollars or what ever they spent because they chose to copy wow and end up being a duplication of wow interms of content . But at least in wow you can travel through cities and open areas without continually instancing ! Again to satisfy teenagers and not hard core players. Simple options and easy obtained rewards for simple minds. Well stuff this , soon as this goes f2p thats it and i hope this game is wiped out SWG had much better content in early days and certainly a lot better levelling system then the wow copy kats that try to outcopy each other. It certainly despite have much larger areas with NO INSTANCING ON PLANETS AT ALL , did not lag . It only lagged after the revamp of swg Free to Play means they have given up and frankly i hope one day there will be a proper hybrid sandbox theme park based on one of the popular fantasy films or stories . Very disappointed They relied on crap instancing - cheap gimmick to avoid performance testing
  3. SO how can SWTOR be classed an MMO. Its more like a playstation connect type game because of all the instancing An mmo does not have instancing on the scale BIOWARE utilise for SWTOR PHASING YES , INSTANCING NO.
  4. ignoring the troll previously, who cant see why most of the servers are dead Sorry this has 12 months max left
  5. NEGATIVES These are the Negatives i have with swtor. SInce this appears to be a copy of wow and with primitive arcade style space combat - I might as play the real deal ie WOW and RIFT until a proper hybrid starwars game or something else with a wealth of background strory to it via books and or films comes to an mmo (which contains sandbox and theme park ). 1) There is too much instancing to really classify it as an MMO. 2) I have seen more 1st shooters that have an online presence that handle more people 3) If its true then are waiting for more technology to allow open world pvp and worse still the management cant stand open pvp (no doubt because it would stress then lada like graphics engine performance to breaking point) I see that as a pathetic excuse, when SWG (with a much older engine) , wow and warhammer and now RIFT could handle more players in one location for combat , for example i remember in swg over 7 years ago 50 players fighting an imba proper jedi in combat over a reasonable area. Or wow with its battles at crossroads. I find the BIOWARE Excuses disingenuous at best , and down right economical with the truth. 4) Why take on a theme such as starwars and have no proper design that involves any open world objectives or combat and where everything is instances. It seems to be starwars in name only imho. 5) In a 21st century MMO i can understand Phasing (thats being inventive) but not instancing. POSITIVES The ground breaking element i see is the voice acting. But even that becomes repetive after a while when it seems the only plan for swtor is to level characters. Sadly i see nothing new or groundbreaking other then that. CONCLUSION Surely in the 21st century we can have both a sandbox/theme park game rather then another variant of wow.
  6. Im saying 1 year tops . The share holders wont be happy if its making a loss by then That would mean it last less then swg by almost 7 years. So much for theme park starwars .
  7. No secretly and openly i wanted a proper 21st century mmo which contains element of theme park for levelling and open world combat and sandbox . What we get is a copy of wow with the facade (an expensive one) of voicing acting which gets very repetitive if you choose to level more characters. Since there is nothing else to do in swtor.
  8. I hope for better from a starwars visioned game. All i get is a copy of wow . I might as well to go back to the real deal instead of a copy of it. 1) It appears if what is reported in some of these forums that the masters of stwor developers cant stand world pvp type events . So why the hell did they get in involved with STAR WARS - The clue is in the name. 2) if you cut out the voice acting what content has it, imho nothing. Its a facade. 3) Extensive use of Instances - Is down right imho economical with the truth classifiying it as an MMO. I can unstanding phasing but not instancing of planets in this game - thats stupid. Sounds like the engine their using , is not the equivalent of XK8 Jaguar or Aston Martin or a Ferrari, but a Lada. 4) Rumour is their excuse for pulling openworld pvp ie Illum is they are waiting for better technology - Funny how they didnt mention that before releasing the game (that shows contempt for their subscribers ie the people who pay their bills in the long run - their customers in other words. So how has swg, warhammer, wow managed to have massed open world pvp . I mean wow had at start of the game in places like barrens near a town south of the hordes capital and that was over 7 years ago at start of it. Sounds like pathetic excuses and utter bollocks to me . What they though probably by using the name of starwars , they could make a quick buck and take the mick. . Until a proper openworld pvp hybrid mmo comes on the market that has elements of sandbox and theme park and based on some good story line .
  9. I better there isnt a standard for what can be classified as an MMO. I dont call 16 people in one location an MMO, thats no different then some playstation games with 1st shootups. I wonder if lucas will regret the use of BIOWARE as the company to develop starwars. as yet i have seen no Star WARS in this game what so ever.
  10. Waiting on technology - what nonsense is that So what technology has wow and warhammer and even the older swg been using for massed combat. Their management are really clueless . Well i hope swtor blows up in their face and if the answer comes back revert to browser games or copy wow even more . Then it shows how stupid they are. I surprised Lucas hasnt revoked their right to use his copyright. If it still falls short after 2 years. I hear they are using over seas developers . I hope to christ it isnt far east developers like india or china. They dont even know what western mmos are .And are by my experience as a freelancer in IT for the last 25 years , they are incapable of thinking outside the box but masters of copying everything.
  11. sorry if eternally levelly a character floats your boat then stwor is the game for you , else like me move on. and wait for a proper HYBRID (Sandbox /themepark MMO) - I can see why in the 21st century this not possible with the level of gaming boxes that now exist and involves a theme that everyone has head of like Bladerunner or Starwars or warhammer or something like that SO that it appeals both to hardcore , world pvp gamers and social players I think the instancing is a bloody disgrace and a cheek to class it as an mmo when so much instancing is used.
  12. Think ill probably go back to either WOW (instead of pretend subsitutes thats use the template of wow and then call it starwars or EVE (which has a bit of complexity to it although boring and repetitive until end game) .
  13. Utter stupidity by BIOWARE Why is not possible to have some servers which are pvp , but only allow one account to have 1 faction on 1 server. Having players with multi factions on 1 server ruins any chance of any good world pvp . This game is basically a levelling game and thats it . Utter crap And to top it . they are being very economical with the truth imho by calling an MMO when everything is instanced.
  14. Well i expected better for a game that suppose to have cost over 120 million dollars - was most of that spent on voice actors i wonder ? certainly not the planets themselves with all the ridiculous instancing 1) its over instanced 2) There is no point to world pvp , no objectives , nothing 3) If you going to use starwars as the point of the game. Fight over pointless planets that no ones ever heard over in starwars - cant see the point. 4) People want open world all level battles on battles like tattoine or even Dantooine or Dathomir or Naboo, not planets no one who have ever heard of like Illum or Magreb 5) Instancing is just lazy . Designating a game as an MMO (the acronym gives a clue what its suppose to be) - 30 people in one area having a combat is not what i call an MMO 6) Even wow does not have massive use of instancing . It has phasing yes (thats different) but not instancing. The whole thing is very repetive and cannot see how they will make any profit for their share holders from a game that is a second rate copy of wow with the only added element of any worth ie voice actors (again gets repetive )
  15. Its a amazing how mmos keep copying wow and they still dont understand why its gettintg tedious What was lacking I cant understand why with all these expert developers they cant work out a hybrid game that has wow elements such as combat/question and yes even when you complete certain quests certain areas change - like in the last wow re arthurian etc etc. That was nice. Sure even swg grind elements , if anyone remembers dantoine and the mass aoe grining for crystals from npc mobs and xp from creatures etc Ideas for expansion/revision 1)But why oh why cant developers add the sandbox element such as housing building yes even town building , 2) more 2nd life/swg elements. 3) Even elements like the old swg rangers creating different types of camps. 4) More open world space and multilevel low/high level planet areas 5) Less Instancing (thats just a cheat - sorry i dont classify something an mmo , if it can only handle 30 people in one combat area. Eve has one area thats it and they can do it and they are very small company of coders. Even wow doesnt have loads of instancing (since everyone loves to copy wow it seems) 6) Maybe a server thats pvp and only allows accounts to have 1 faction on that server If companies keep copying wow well thats choice, may be one day they will work out that copying games doesnt bring loads of revenue in the long term after release. footnote:- I notice some of the swtor npcs have very familiar titles for combatants from swg - such as pistoleers, carbineers, and rangers etc.
