  1. Seriously... Where is the role playing of a UNIQUE character? Decisions mean nothing. In most MMOs you find your own way to max level through multiple unique paths that you can choose from. By the time you get there, you've role played a unique experience of your own design and choosing, and have an emotional attachment to your character. In SWTOR, everyone is the same and "decisions" have no bearing except to hear a few different words! I mean think about it, everyone of your class has the same EXACT story, same exact companions, same exact ship, etc... I want to role play a unique character and make my own story...
  2. Yes or no? No Are you still having fun? Well, I was initially... but no. Have you seen a population drop in your server? Prior to unsubbing I saw a significant decrease in players on Ven Zallow RP-PVP server. How do you think this game compares to your last MMO? Not very good. The story line on rails makes it so there's no attachment to your character. Sure, you can choose various "decisions" but they have no impact except for the next few words to come out of an NPCs mouth. There's no roleplaying a unique character that found their own way to 50.. It's way too much on rails. In other MMOs you MAKE your own character's story, it's not handed to you on a silver platter. By the time you reach top level, you've role played a unique character through a unique series of events of your own choosing. In SWTOR you simply follow the rails, it's like playing a movie (static, linear, non changing plot) rather than an MMO. I can't believe the design decision was made so that EVERYONE has the same character, story, companions, etc. That's so fail it's absolutely mind boggling how they thought it would work. Also the loading screens and unncessary running between planets is downright dreadful. What's the #1 thing you would like to get fixed or added? Space.
  3. Heh that totally sounds like an EA decision... I knew I couldn't trust EA enough to get their security key, I figured they'd probably sell my personal information to make an extra 10 cents or something.
  4. Considering the game has been in development for 4-5 years under one of the biggest budgets ever, I think it's actually pretty valid to expect it to compete with what other MMOs have now.
  5. Why would I want to keep paying now for a game that's not going to be fun until later, if at all?
  6. I just want to clarify that because I keep seeing people under the impression that you have to be an active subscriber to post here...
  7. The whole thing is easy.. even leveling up, I never felt truly "epic" because I might as well have been squishing ants the whole time. Look at the movie 300, now that's epic, and they all died facing a scary and exciting challenge. I need some sort of challenge to find a game enjoyable... Does anyone else agree? When your back is to the wall, your down to your last health, dying would have a meaningful negative consequence, and somehow you pull off an epic win for the glory.... that's when gaming is at it's best. Since there's no meaningful consequences for dying other than a 10 second run back....and you purposefully have to draw extra enemies of a higher level in order to be in any danger of dying, where's the challenge? Did they purposefully dumb it down because MMO noobs find it challenging simply because they don't know how to make a rotation? That's fail.
  8. Who is the Jedi chick that looks like Ahsoka in RoTS and dies during Order 66 when she and the clone troops were in that jungle of some sort? I always thought maybe that was Ahsoka, as there's no reference to who else she might be.
  9. I just got a G700 a couple weeks ago and it's awesome, love it. I keep it on 1000hz gamer mode and there's no mouse lag or anything of the sort. When I run low on the battery, I just plug it in for a little while. With modern technology there's no need for a wire anymore and frankly the variable resistance of a mouse cord is a huge drawback... plus I really enjoy playing in low sensitivity mode and having a big space to use the mouse in without worrying about reaching the end of the wire or tugging on it.. I used an MX1000 which was Logitech's first 11 button 800 DPI wireless laser gaming mouse for 6 years, averaging 2-3 hours gaming per night. It still works flawless to this day.. and that's what, something like 5500 hours of gaming goodness? Imagine how many clicks that is... A low estimate of 20 clicks per minute and you're looking at over 6.6mm clicks and still working fine...
  10. Yes but long term that premise fails. The long term viability of any MMO lies in the end game. Sure, for a little while you can make some alts and check out other classes and what not. But barring rapid expansions, you'll still get to the point where 95% of the players logged in are at the top level.
  11. EA has a terrible habit of pushing games out early! That's their modus operandi really. Meanwhile Blizzard and Valve, the two best and most highly respected PC game developers in the world, have the complete opposite strategy. Half Life 1 came out in 1998 Half Life 2 came out in 2004 8 years later and nobody even asks where is HL3 because we know the wait will be worth it whenever they are ready. Valve & Blizzard > EA
  12. Well, hyperdrives have changed.. There's nothing in the movies that really looks like what we see with a planet popping up immediately.. I kind of was looking forward to the streaking of the stars for more than .5 seconds. I think most of their technology was on a plateau though.... There has to come a point where it doesn't make sense to make a harder/stronger metal... or a more powerful laser beam etc etc. If nano bots can bring back the dead what else do you want from medical technology.. etc You kind of have to suspend belief with most of this stuff because if you think too much about it, none of it makes sense. I mean look at the prequels already, where are their iPhones? Why does nobody have a chip in their eye that gives them a HUD? And their "holograms" are actually already possible today with 3+ projectors on a smoke/vapor emitter. As a side note, there's no sound in space, so the lasers pew pewing etc are all not possible either.
  13. Are you guys using WASD with Tab and the number keys? I am guessing some folks are using arrows and clicking on all abilities..... This is wrong. I know even experienced MMO players who did this... I'm no longer subscribed but when I was, I never had a problem targetting... I generally used tab but would use mouse to click in hectic situations. All the while spamming abilities even if on the wrong target momentarily. Usually took me under a second even in hectic battle to target correctly.
  14. I just think it's a shame that a well organized Empire guild can't try to raid Coruscant or vice versa the Republic cant attack the Imperial City or Sith Academy... or even just MORE small outposts on the maps. I mean even in the Clone Wars prequel, Count Dooku and the seperatists attacked Coruscant and actually kidnapped the Chancellor in a daring raid! Why can't we do that? In WoW raiding home towns is hard but also very fun... I guess I don't see WHY it's so restricted to a few cheesy open world PvP areas? Imagine the Republic raiding the Sith Academy for example. This would give players something else to do. Everyone loves ganking noobs...and if you play on PVP server it means you accept being ganked. When I started on an RP-PVP server I surely thought I'd be clashing with Jedi sooner rather than later... but no, you have to do 175 quests first, kill thousands of mobs and get to level 25 and Tattooine.. I mean if you're interested in open world PvP then getting to it is worse than killing 1000 boars. It's needlessly restricted at all levels.
  15. I too would like the high resolution textures put back in.... I was wondering what happened to this thread, haven't seen it in days...
