  1. So.. two years of players widely complaining about the random nature of crates from Galactic Command (AND the GC grinding... per character) .. and your solution is for the studio to just double down on GC and Command Crates?????
  2. Hmm... hard to tell yet if this is an improvement overall for the broader player base or not. It certainly is a response to some special interests blow back about the "grind". They ARE reacting to feedback... but as always.. it's feedback from different and often conflicting/competing segments of the playerbase. That's the problem with MMOs and their players.. many competing and conflicting opinions and views in one pot.. being stirred with multiple spoons.. and we may get a good soup out of it or it may be really bad. The only thing I see as consistent with all player segments about the new gear is ---> the soup takes way too long to make. Time will tell.
  3. ^^ this is most likely what triggered the site to offer you an ad. The coding of the web site probably triggered thinking of you as an interested party rather then an actual subscriber with an existing credit card on account. Should it do that? Probably not.. but you what... having been the business owner for bit web sites over the years that interact with customers.... I can confirm that there is almost always a layer of marketing code underneath that pops on certain triggers to particular customers behaviors on the web site. businesses will almost always offer something that could result in additional revenue under the right circumstances. The consumer is however not forced to accept anything that pops up. You triggered something.. and in turn... it clearly triggered you.
  4. I think they are all fine. Why? Because it's a game, not real life, not my 401K, not my investment portfolio, not my estate, not a component of world peace.... just a cosmetic item inside a game. And as a player I am free to use the ones I like and ignore the ones I do not like.. and as you noted.. this is true for every player who plays the game. Now for some game history in a nutshell: Back at launch.. there really were very few colors available in game, even though 35 years of constantly expanding SW lore introduced many other colors via the movies, books, etc. [i remember even personally throwing a mission dialogue choice on the Jedi starter planet to the dark side choice in order to get a yellow crystal in the first month after launch.... because that was one of the few ways to obtain one at the time, and I wanted one.] More importantly though....many players asked for, even demanded more color crystals, and even in some cases demanded very specific ones that suited their particular tastes/wants. And.. the studio listened to players and continued to introduce new crystal colors over the years. /End of SWTOR history lesson. One final comment.. you claim to not be "judging" here.. but the fact that you used the term "weird" in your thread title is actually a judgmental approach in my view to a thread topic where you are expressing an opinion and want opinions in return. You could have gone with a much more neutral approach along the lines of "What is your favorite color crystal, and why?" followed by expressing your opinion about color crystals.
  5. My recollection is that this has been a complaint about every server since launch. Same with healers. It also happens to be a common complaint in most MMOs... dating back 15 years or more. The reasons are simple.. most players prefer to play a DPS role when they MMO. I have yet to see any studio find a solution to this long standing issue in MMOs that have random queue systems.
  6. Maybe they should make an exception for the OP and just send him/her yet another droid pet, or some random dye, or some ugly retread mount instead. Why? Well.. the OP seems so conflicted about this coming subscriber perk.. that he copped a 7 day referral in order to post and ask everyone else what they should think about this.
  7. ^^ Yep yep. "Sour grapes" ... the gift that keeps on giving in the forums.
  8. ^^ Same here. I wonder if his armor is equipable? Probably not, but you never know. Now... for all those players who insist the studio never does anything for subscribers... here's gum on your shoe! One of the better ways to promote holiday subscriptions... which is what this is... but subscribers clearly are getting some love here (limited time, special circumstance companions being one of the most desired of things) during the holidays. And yes.. they are trolling the persistent non-subs (Op admits to this thread being made under a 7 day referral) with this.. and I am fine with that. Inb4 the offer expires and people start crying about having missed if for XYZ reason, and demanding a second chance, and a third chance, and a forth chance, rinse and repeat. :0
  9. ^I'm just going to return comment on this part, because the rest reads a complete unrelated nonsense to me. This is an MMO and you can indeed play the game and follow mission/story arcs (not quests dude. there are no quests in this MMO.. but I get that fixation of the term on your part) and NEVER touch the CM side of things if you don't want to. Seriously.. your wound here is self-inflicted. Why have you been buying CCs to begin with???????? There is absolutely nothing on the CM that cannot be readily gained in game by playing the game, gathering credits and then buying with credits from other players. Not to mention nothing on the CM is in any way mission critical to actually playing this game as an MMO. It's all cosmetic things.. readily tradable between players (unlike many other MMOs) and as such.. just play the game and shop on occasion on the GTN for the cosmetics you desire. Leave the CM side of things for players who actually do enjoy it for whatever reason.
  10. Yeah, I agree with this point. The last real gasp at new MMO titles appears to have come and gone about 5 or 6 years ago. And some of them are already gone. Standing up a new MMO on popular IP is expensive and a fools choice for the big game holding companies now days. There is room for small studios and crowd funded efforts to stand up smaller niche MMOs... but it is not clear at all that niche MMOs can even survive in todays market.... but we will know for sure if/when some of the promised niche MMOs actually go live. Camelot Unchained is a particularly good example of what is taking place in the crowd/private funded niche MMO market space right now.. and it appears more and more to be vaporware. A lot of us loved DAoC and would like to go back to some nostalgia of what made that game unique and great 18 years ago ... but it is not clear at all that Jacobs can pull it off... much less if people will actually pay to play said MMO.
  11. ^^ Personally, this has been my approach since launch. I also think this was the intention of the story writers when they created the framework of story arcs under which the LS/DS mechanics are embedded.... because there is no truly pure Light or Dark in the SW universe.... there is always internal conflict within a character portrayed in SW... since the first movie. It did mean in the early days that I sometimes got points that were opposing to my desired direction of Light or Dark for a character... but I just accepted that as the result of my personal choices. Now days... there are so many ways to add the chosen "Side Points" that I desire for a character that even that small imposition of my choices at launch are no longer even relevant.
