  1. STO allows this, and you get rewarded with new items of your current level, but as SWTOR missions always give the item level of the mission, and not your character, then it probably will not be able to get that. If the story missions could be repeatable it would make for more replayability of the game. Starting new characters wears thin, when you start going through virtually all the missions again, but some missions you never get bored of, and those I would like do again and again.
  2. EA/BW does not own SWTOR, they buy a licence from LA (now Disney) Bioware has already gone under with the Doctors leaving. EA just uses the Bioware name now LA closure has affected 1313. Disney have stated they want to concentrate on games around the new movies Episodes 7 to 9, and not so much on the expanded universe, which would include SWTOR SWG was shut down and SOE unable to save it because of LA who called the shots. It was something that SOE could say "yes" to a couple of months after it had to say "no" to pleading Star Wars Galaxies fans. So why did EQMac get saved while SWG was not? It came down to licensing, and with LucasArts calling the shots with SWG, SOE didn't have the flexibility that it did with EQMac. SOE's reticent to shut anything down, Smedley said, although sometimes the higher-ups have to make the call to do so. EA/BW just code and maintains SWTOR like SOE did with SWG, but Lucasarts (now Disney) called the shots with both of them. Plus if populations continue to dwindle, then the future of SWTOR does not look bright at all. If low populations does not kill SWTOR, then Disneys focus of the SW IP might. EA/BW / Disney need to make a statement about the future of SWTOR - The lack of one implies the future is not good for SWTOR
  3. It will be safe for at least a year, but then will depend on if people sustain the equivalent of 500K subs which are needed to break even. If it can not get this then will probably not survive long. The key is adding more content not F2P. Any MMO will survive even on s $15 monthly sub. 2 million people bought SWTOR on that knowledge. People did not quit because of the monthly fee, people quit because it lacked substance, depth and progression. SWG had more updates done to it in 2011 than SWTOR has done since it launched! F2P will only save it as long as they can do this too - add content. If they did not do it when it was P2P only, then I do not see them doing it in F2P. The game is more like a single player game with multiplayer features than a fully blown MMO. http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-19077238 The President of EA Labels Frank Gibeau said the Star Wars game would still break even so long as it maintained 500,000 subscribers, but admitted that its current performance was "not good enough".
  4. I am going to delete them, as they are clones that belong on another server, and I do not want them in the same Legacy name, it just stuffs up everything I was doing Then I am going to have to do them all over again on a different server, because you have no choice in where you can transfer too. The transfer process in this game is beyond ridiculous
  5. I had 8 characters on an Originh Server, because its only 1 destination server alreadty had 8 characters. I do not want all 16 charactrers on 1 server. They were on separte servers on purpose. Why could we not get a choice of several servers to transfer to? Why did it just have to be the one? If they are all transferring to one server, then I am going to have to delete 8 of them now, and recreate them again on a differentr server. Why you could not say this months ago, would have saved me loads of time? Or better yet, I will not bother doing anything and just not play any more
  6. I have characters on Dxun Battle Circle and The Red Eclipse, and the only server to transfer to from Dxun is The Red Eclipse, so chars on Dxun are stuck until they open up more servers for destination. Dxun is the server I have unlocked Legacy too, and so to progress Legacy, creating more characters on Dxun is a must. Hopefully they will open up a 2nd server to transfer to, and then will transfer then, but if not what will happen to my toons?
  7. It looks like all Origin servers are locked, but if you have a character on an a locked origin server, you can create more characters on it.
  8. Single player games there is nothing but the ironic thing is you can play them forever I put 8.5 years into SWG, and it is all gone. Items that I have purchased, or acquired through playing, player cities and housing spent loads of time building up. Friendships made whilst playing all gone, as we all go different ways. After playing a MMO for years and years, there is plenty to lose. There is nothing to lose by playing a game that does not require the internet to play. With SWTOR I just plan on playing through my characters and the stories, and then quitting before it closes. I am not investing any more time into MMOs / games that require an internet connection to play.
  9. Warhammer has nothing to do with LA though. If SOE had their way, SWG would still be running now. SOE wanted SWG to go F2P, but LA did not want it to happen. SWTOR may need to go F2P to survive, but if LA is still against F2P, then SWTOR will more likely close down too SWG shutting down makes there to be plenty to worry about
  10. If you are on Tomb of Freedom Nadd then that explains why you think the game is healthy. That server is the most populated server. New charaters is not necessarily new players, as more likely people rerolling characters on your server. Other servers go down, whilst your server goes up
  11. All SOE games have gone F2P now, and each new SOE game will be F2P, including planetside 2 and EQ Next. DCUO did not go F2P because of poor subs, although that could be the reason, but the fact is MMOs going F2P is not a sign of failure, but companies wanting to suck more money out of you. SOE wanted to keep SWG going and make it F2P, but LA did not want to, so it got shut down. I doubt TOR will go F2P, even if subs go below what Vanguard is getting at P2P. If TOR tanks, they will just shut the game down.
  12. Name changes affect most merges, it goes with the territory in virtually every MMO you play. It will be easier to merge than SWG, as no Player Cities / server specific resources etc to worry about
  13. They also shut the game down when the population was having a growth spurt. It was probably the free 45 days but was done before they gave people a chance to resub to the game. LA shutting down SWG proves that they just do whatever they feel fit and no matter what the population levels are. SOE is known for keeping dead games active, as can be seen with Vanguard. If EA were behind SWG then it may have shut down 2-3 years ago, but SOE no doubt persuaded LA to keep it going. SWTOR is safe though for however long EA and LA have the contract for. Do you know how long that is?
  14. Warhammer is not LA LA shut down SWG, not SOE. LA called the shots with SWG, and EA/Bioware are no doubt in same position as SOE was.
  15. Do not be too sure of that. STO is only around because it went F2P. Also SWG had more players than Vanguard, LA did not want SWG going F2P, so it got shut down. SOE wanted to keep SWG going and make it F2P. EA are quite keen on shutting down servers. If game was run by SOE it would be around longer, but not that long when it is a licence game. If SWG did not get shut down, then I would be more confident that SWTOR will not shut down too. EA + LA makes lack of confidence for online longevity
