Not really, WoW added dynamic weather in 2006. SWTOR is cutting edge for 2005.

Here's the thing level cap was 60 and it took 20 days /played. So when exactly did you play WoW to level 50, when it was released or when WotLK was released? SWTOR takes about 5 days /played if you watch all the cutscenes. I think BW screwed up when they decided to make leveling 130(ish) hours to cap. I don't know if they wanted to focus on getting people to cap as quickly as possible, or if they just ran out of content.
