  1. I feel like I've answered this one before but just incase I haven't I'll provide an answer anyway. Top 5 reasons why I left the game: 1. The lack of an open world feel. I felt like control was taken out of my hands. I like to move freely and explore, SWTOR felt too controlled and contained. 2. No real sense of war between player factions happening. The lines between factions are nonexistent. Lack of an imp vs. pub sensation. 3. Lackluster races to choose from. Very little variety. Too many clones of people. The game has more of a small town vibe than a universe vibe. 4. No real rewards. The ships and vehicles are nice rewards but to be honest they don't feel like rewards due to them lacking anything really special or unique about them. Would be nice to have a choice in ships. Vehicles are ridiculously slow even at 110%. 5. Inability to choose a voice for character. I will like a certain style of gameplay and how the character feels but the voice won't fit or will prevent me from being fully immersed into the game. I come back only because I enjoy MMOs but, I won't be resubbing because SWTOR is not an enjoyable MMO for me. The game holds my hand way too much for me to feel immersed into the game. I love the freedom to choose whatever I want in MMOs, SWTOR doesn't provide that freedom for me. I want to shape my own journey, not have it planned out for me.
  2. It just means that people have finally moved on. I won't be resubbing.
  3. If you go back to D&D, people played certain roles in order to progress the game, but the level of role playing is limitless and truly provides unique experience and it's at times a lifelong thing. People still are playing out their characters. MMOs these days adapt the bare minimum requirements to be called a RPG. But the actual role playing aspect is very very limited. BW has always gotten it wrong in my opinion because everything feels like it's on a guided track taking you through a theme park. But Bethesda has always gotten it right because you truly embark on some adventure where your actions do make a difference. Heck Fable tried to get to the very core of what a RPG really meant with very simple game mechanics. Your actions truly dictate the outcome of that game. Find a girl in town, give her gifts that she likes, build a bond, marry her, accidentally kill her because you got caught stealing when the guards came after you and you ended up shooting the guards and other town folk which ultimately you discovered that your wife was caught in the cross fire. Then see the entire town start to deteriorate as you continue. The game didn't entirely work because it was truly a difficult thing to do, but if he did exactly what he envisioned then Fable very well could have been the very best RPG video games has seen. SWG did it partially right as well at the beginning. You had tons of decisions to make that actually made a HUGE difference. What city you lived in, what kind of house, what planet to live on, what your character did as a profession, what kind of fighter he was. These all sound like basic functions but they all had an incredible amounts of depth to them. My character was born on Tattooine, chose to live in Krayt Dragon City, his profession was smuggler, bioengineer, entertainer who conducted all his business on Coronet. He was a master brawler, marksman, smuggler, master pistoleer, dabbled in creature handling (for exotic pets to have for my own), dabbled in ranger so I could pitch tents to heal wounds, etc... I developed a massive story with my character, one that if I wanted to, I could easily create a story utilizing the Star Wars universe and provide a compelling and interesting story within that universe even without being a jedi or rarely having any jedi show up in that story for that matter. I was an imperial for proft but later defected. RPGs shouldn't get in the way of creating your own story. The moment your character is fully voice acted the facade slowly begins to fade. BW has always done it wrong and I only took interest in this game because of the MMORPG potential but, the very reasons why I hated the other BW games carried over to the MMO aspect of this one. You guys can continue thinking you're creating your own unique story within this universe, but I can guarantee you that there's probably 1/3 of all the people playing this game who is choosing almost the identical decisions as you are making as well. It's sickening to know it is most likely. This game is the anti-thesis of role playing. You're just assuming a position that's been predetermined.
  4. This is a facade that BW wants you to believe. Your assertion was wrong because you're probably some fanboy who feel threaten that someone is challenging your game. You can't see because you're bias. Your favorite beloved game developer wants you to believe that the canned decisions are yours. You certainly can feel that this is an RPG and that is yours and your friends opinion but my opinion still stands, that this isn't a role playing game in the sense that you're doing any real role playing. It's the equivalent of playing Niko in GTA4 or any other game that's gives you some minor decisions to make.
  5. Don't make assumptions that I skipped through the stories in order to make your points. Saying this game is an RPG because of the predetermined choices is like saying GTA4 is an RPG because Niko decided to take out one of the girls for a date. Or that Call of Duty is an RPG because you're choosing which loadout to take into combat. . The story is already set in place for you. It's predetermined. It will be the same for everyone as well as on your multiple play through. Your choices don't affect it at all. You're a monkey behind a keyboard initiating the corresponding choices. It's all canned. The actors are waiting in the wings until you click that little button to make them do their little dance. It's not role playing because there's no creating of stories. It's all planned out for you straight out of the box.
  6. You think this game is an "RPG?" That's funny.
  7. No, the point of an MMO shouldn't be sitting through dialog 80% of your time playing. The point of MMO's is the community and this game completely missed the mark.
  8. To the OP, you should read into what happened to SWG. That too was a very hot topic and one that is to be avoided at all costs. How could it happen again? It's definitely worth looking into.
  9. They gave us a massively multiplayer game that had a huge focus on solo content... That's why you don't see too many people. Even the role playing aspect of the game was revoked from you at the very beginning; you had to choose a class and got stuck with the character's voice no matter how evil you wanted to make your jedi or good you wanted to make your sith, BW apparently didn't think it was important because they just predetermine what we wanted. They entirely canned the experience. Phoned it in. Uninspired. Lacking anything organic. All that hard work for the heavy dialog portion of the game ultimately provided us with another minigame where the only thing you did was repeatedly pressed spacebar faster than the other guy you happened to be grouped with. The worlds were just simply clone factories: inq, warrior, warrior, inq, bh, bh, bh, bh, sniper, inq, inq, inq, inq, inq, inq. etc... Crafting was a tedious mini game and provided no incentive except for biochem. Space combat didn't provide anything unique to the game nor any real reward. World pvp was a complete and utter failure. Worst pvp I can think of in any MMO. There's no saving this game. Too many fundamental flaws for it to grow more than it currently is now. Server merges will provide just enough warmth for those willing to stick around the camp fire just like it did for SWG.
  10. Using the Nostro I use the w,s,d,a as my movement and the analog for key abilities. Vanguard: Right would trigger stockstrike, down would trigger HiB, left would trigger pulse cannon or huttball depending on which Wz I'm playing, and up for sticky grenade. Works nicely IMO. The Nostro/Naga combo I feel puts me ahead of everyone else. I can usually tell who's running the same set up when I 1v1 someone.
  11. My suggestions: 1. The CC breakout ability when activated should not only break you free of any CC effect but, also provide a 5-6 second immunity to any CC after being activated. Snares included. Cool down should be at the most 1 minute cool down. 2. Valor lvl should continue to level regardless what lvl you are sub-50. 3. Higher XP for 1-49 WZs. IMO it should be at least 15k XP per 15 minute matches. I love leveling alts and I want to lvl them only in PvP while only completing class quests. 4. Side quests should be optional and provide incentives to the PvE'rs. Like unique items and gear. Strictly for cosmetic though.
  12. This was inevitable. PvE in MMO's are giant snooze fests. Fix my tank in PvP then I'll reconsider subscribing.
  13. You missed the point. The point of this thread IS THE GAME ISN'T FUN ANYMORE. The HONEYMOON IS OVER. I married the wrong gal.
  14. I would be hating life too if I was part of creating the worst most dull MMO ever created.
