  1. A couple assumptions: You are new to SWTOR, and you are not in a guild. Voss is painfull your first time. I was wondering why things that were hitting me with a baseball bat were all of a sudden using trees. I would suggest getting some gear for Qyzen, his HP seems a bit low. I am willing to bet that you have not upgraded his gear in a while, beeyond a piece or two from quest rewards. While his health may not seem that problematic when you are heal specced, he needs enough health and mitigation to stay alive long enough for you to kill things when you DPS. If you have the Belsavis coms, get him an off-hand at the least. Hit the GTN and buy him some gear. Just 5 or 6 pieces and it will go from "elite = run away" to "elite = extra experience". If you are wondering what to gear him with, he is a powertech/vanguard tank with a sword instead of a blaster.
  2. Someone was not loved as a child Feel free to ask more questions if you are unsure about things, and ignore idiots like that. You will attract less of this kind of thing if you ask in the new player help section.
  3. The Assault Specialist Commando specs into Ionic Accelerator, which refreshes the cooldown of, and makes the next high impact bolt free. This is procced by Charged Bolts and Full Auto. The Commando is three trees, and they made basic skills trainable so all three got them. That is why you have two heals and a clense to go along with Charged Bolts. CMs, who are not healing like crazy during SOA's vulnerable phase can pop Supercharged cells and get free Charged Bolts for the duration.
  4. Hate to break it to you, but you need not collect one DS point to romance Kira. Not sure when the breaking point is, but you can keep your perfect 10000/0 ratio while she is sleeping in your tent. Conversely, I understand that you can have 0/10000 and have her in your tent. Women......
  5. @OP Welcome to MMO communities, where your fellow gamers suck the life out of you. Need is the first set of rolls, if nobody needed it, then greed and dissasemble are thrown together. Refering to your OP, you were right in your rolls. You needed when you needed something, you greeded when you were greedy, and you disassembled when you wanted the mats. If disassemble were not kosher, it would not be part of the roll system. As far as the conduct of your group (kicking you for following etiquette) goes, that is subjective and is determined from whatever occured in the FP before that moment. I would not have kicked you unless there were other issues, and definitely not right after killing Malgus (or equivalent) and before the distribution of loot. Keep needing on stuff your character needs, greeding for companions and greed, and disassembling when you want and your profession supports it.
  6. I assume the OP is a Merc (threat dump gives it away). Torian is not a tank, but a DPS helper. If you want a Tanking companion, focus on class quests on Hoth. I don't assume to have the best combination, but it "felt" easier to use Mako till I got Blizz, and then Blizz through endgame on my Merc. Blizz does have issues with a Rakata geared Merc, but things are usually dead before that becomes an issue. I use Torian on my Shieldtech, but I used Mako exclusively till I got some Rakata pieces.
  7. Credits The Empire is willing to pay for your services, and the Republic (I assume based on my lowbee Smuggler's progression) is willing to pay for the Smuggler's services. In the end, for both classes, it is credits that determine where your loyalties lie. When the Republic offered a reward for killing a Darth, I took it. If, in future expantions, they offer compensation for killing Sith, a true BH will fulfill that contract. I'd do it for free anyway, but credits=honey. It would make me want to play a Smuggler if I got to kill Jedi, and killing rogue Jedi would make the Trooper story better. Too bad we kill the only Darth that gets it.
  8. Combat Medic/Bodyguard (I have both in raids) 1) Healing is subpar and needs to be paired with a sage/sorc so they can carry the LOW output. Most wonder why a healing aim user does not re-spec to DPS. My Pub guild's raid leader would rather take a tionese geared sawbones than my rakata medic on nightmare modes. 2) Before 1.2 I felt like a decent healer, and supercharged made me able to multi-target heal during those idiot moments. Post 1.2 I can keep up a good group but, one player that does not pay attention and it is over. Re-speccing and gearing for DPS is a pain, but less painfull than leveling yet annother 50.
  9. All characters have 5% miss. All bosses have 5% defense. If you have 100% accuracy on normal attacks, you have 110% accuracy on your specials. 110% negates miss and defense in PvE, and requires around 288 accuracy points, or 260 with Skadge's affection maxed out. There are arguments for not wasting points on accuracy, but 260 points in your stat budget for 10% extra damage is pretty cheap, as long as you don't go over. Your call
  10. Oh, and Ninja, I copied your formula to Excel. I'll figure out how to get it to work about two days after I need it. Procrastination is a way of life.
  11. Thanks Ninja and Grall for your replies. I was trying to figure out a way to estimate the best returns on an augment stat budjet. Being kinda stupid, I wanted to do it myself, but wanted to make sure the math was correct, in it's simplest form. I am nowhere near heavy DR, and complete accuracy on my augmentations was not necessary. What it came dowwn to was, that while, as Ninja has said before, absorb was a better place to spend my augment budjet for mitigation, the increased shield chance proccs more rocket punches/stockstrikes. I needed a rough way to look at it and decide if that .05% mitigation was worth that extra .05% rocket punch. I ended up simply splitting it. So, once again, thanks.
  12. To begin with, I understand that this has probably been beat to death already, but sifting through all the threads is a poor way to spend an afternoon or two. From my understanding of the damage that is mitigated by a tank, it is a three tiered system. First, you remove the defended damage. Secondly, your shielded damage is calculated from what is left over, modified by your absorb. Whatever shielded damage that is not absorbed is mitigated by armor. And finally, whatever is not defended or shielded is mitigated by armor. So, for the interest of displaying just how much I DO NOT understand about this, I will give some BS numbers. 50% DR 14% defense 50% shield 50% absorb 14% of damage is taken from the top Of the 86% that is left over, your shield will mitigate 43%. Your shield's mitigation is only 21.5%, so your armor mitigates an additinal 10.75%, leaving your shieldy bit at 32.25%. Now, 43% of incoming damage is mitigated solely by your armor, for a whopping 21.5% of the total. What I come up with is 67.75% total mitigation. Am I wrong in my calculations? P.S. This is a completely theoretical exercize assuming some bloke is going to hit you with a baseball bat a million times, for exactly 1000 weapon damage each hit, to give you a baseline sample.
  13. Forgive me if I am mistaken, but Tano comes with a moddable weapon, no? If not, then go to the Coruscant equipment commendations vendor on the fleet and purchase one. You can then mod it out with the latest and greatest. Also, there are usually weapons vendors at the shuttle locations on the planets you are visiting, or in the area, and you can buy green weapons there, with green mods. I think the Voss one is in the traders area, across the bridge from the shuttle location. When you get to 50 and start the Belsavis dailies, there is a heroic that awards orange companion weapons, if you are so minded. There is no difference between the orange moddable and green moddable weapons, they both take your castoff purple barells/mods/crystals/enhancements.
  14. The trash scchematic drops are rare. it is not that they nerfed it, or that they eliminated it. It is the RNG god and her completely random nature.
  15. I wrote a long lecture dealing with balance and economics, and deleted it. It was bunk anyways. Yea, I too would like to consolidate my pub 50s to where my guild is. I too have to wait. Oh well, at least dailies are quick on dead servers.
