The objectives themselves are better and more fun. Instead of going out of our way (regular activities) to do a mindless grind (kill x insects on y planet), we are funneled towards the fun activities.
Yet, the new system still creates more frustration than fun.
As the objectives do not give the same amount of points, you can very easily get screwed over as happened to me today.
I got to 24/25 on the GSF objective for 12 points. Then, in a moment of distraction, remembering the weeklies reset tomorrow, I used my reputation tokens.
It completed me the reputation objective (8 points) and my whole week of GSF farm is made completely invalid.
From a shoddy designer's point of view, this is fine, because it is only a difference of 4 points, it is minor.
The reality is that the difference is my endless hours of GSF poured into it, for nothing.
Remove frustration, add more fun, with this simple fix : unify the point reward values.
ESO has a comparable system : you have 5 weekly endeavors available, you can do 3.
When you accidentally complete one, it is a happy surprise. There is no frustration, only fun.
Swtor player mindset when tackling the weekly season objectives : oh crap, which ones do I have to hop through hoops to avoid doing by accident?
My main is a Sith Warrior, I had to be careful not to complete the "do 15 quests as Sith Warrior" by accident because it only gives 8 points and it could screw me over. And I still failed.
This is not well made and it is not thought through, even if the objectives themselves are better. It is not fun choice, it is pressure and punishment.
