  1. I could be wrong, as I tend to get stories mixed up from time to time, but I was pretty sure that one of the classes actually has a story mission or two ON the station. I think it was Operative...or maybe it was Smuggler. Anyway, I just remember thinking, "OOooooooh....THAT'S why this station is here!" I rotate through my characters fairly often and I have 1 of each class/2 of each role....so...I do get a bit confused on specifics from time to time.
  2. My two quarters on the event: The Brief Likes The lore The fun of the Event Bosses The attempt to bring about world PvP The armor The players (out of bw's control) Some of the weapons Dislikes The grind. Omg...the grind Lack of unlockable "event/story" progression The armor The weapons The players (out of bw's control) Xeno lockout timer The worm event boss cheat (Please...fix this before the event comes back) The Explanation World PvP: I say the attempt to bring back world PvP because, again for me, it was cohesion. The "Contested Area" should not have been a free-for-all zone, it should have been a standard "teams" zone. To me that would have fit the quest lines better and the event better. Each faction trying their best to stop the other from gaining Gree Favor (or in this case...waiting in lines). Instead...it was a ridiculous free-for-all that was almost an after thought of, "Yeah...lets just make it a Thunderdome. BRILLIANT!" Also, there had to be a better way to implement the timers/objectives of that particular pvp mission to avoid the "efficiently minded" players. In fact, I know there was because there's players that thought of some fantastic ideas around this to force PvP. Hopefully this was another learning experience. The Grind/Unlockable Story progression: A lot of people whined about this in the Rakghoul event because, if you missed a day, the rotation got screwed up or this or that. So the response was..."Unlocks for everyone!" Ok, yes, you had to unlock Gray Secant in this event, but that wasn't hard to do. So, for a two week event...I expected way more unlocked missions. Things to show, not only the Gree's observations, but the Gree's influence in the galaxy. It would've been interesting to have the Droid collector inside Secant (the one that sends you to different planets) have one droid objective (i.e. planet) unlocked per day, with the second week (or last 4 days?) having them all unlocked for players that couldn't make it the first week. In doing so, the player could get to each planet to check on each droid where there was a series of 2-3 missions to unlock where the droid was or what it was doing. Maybe even find a droid that was completely demolished with intact partial core and hints as to who took it. The point is...it was way to grindy. "Come to planet. Finish stack of mission. Defeat event boss (if you're lucky). Move on." In this respect...it didn't feel like an event....it felt like a grind-fest. Went from one extreme to the other. Yes...I realize that the "unlock method" is still a grind fest...but it doesn't FEEL like a grind fest if done right. Plus it can add more lore, mystery, story, etc. Star Wars. Space Opera. Common here people. The Armor/Weapons: Ok, I actually liked the armor designs (yes, i realize it's rep stuff and not event stuff)...except the boots. Is there some absolute need from the designers to have at least ONE piece of armor with something that protrudes ridiculously? Other then that, I really wish they had a dye system in place so you could adjust the neon color and base armor color...but nice none the less. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the weapon designs, but I didn't think they were horrible either. I was more impressed by the weapon effects and animations. Those were pretty cool. All my gripes about armor and weapons aside, my biggest complaint was the fact that they were just shells. Just...simple shells. Nothing more. For the armor, I get it. They're reputation items. But for the event weapons...why? For the initial Return of the Gree event on Nar Shadda...I could get a fantastically equipped weapon for mid or high level that contained good mods that was easily comparable to anything else out there at the time. And that event wasn't nearly as impactful on my time as this 2 week grind. So for a 2 week grind fest....I get a shell? Really? Le sigh. This isn't the Cartel Market. I worked for that event item. I expect it to be more then a shiny new shell. The Players: Ooooooh my god...the players. Without going into great detail, the players were amazing bad...but at the same time....amazingly good. The absolute childish antics and behaviors were absolutely amazing. Thankfully it was countered by some, also amazing, mature and respectful players. Thankfully I only had 2 "bad" instances with players, but I think that's because I avoided one "fire" (pylon quest - did once, queue's started, never did again) and, being on RP-PvP server, I also went in expecting certain things to happen. Because of this, maybe my experience was not totally soiled...I don't know. But man....to watch general chat sometimes. Aaaamazing bad (stupid and childish too). All in all, I felt that this was overall less an event and more a grind fest with limited event rewards (not to be confused with rep rewards). It felt more like a testbed for other future installments, limited by the rep system, and disguised as an "event" with a spattering of fun lore, bosses and the like. Overall, my "event high" ran out after the first week was completed (realistically...4-5 days), but I did enjoy that high while it lasted. Now go back to the drawing board and find that "happy middle" please.
  3. Some can't be interrupted as it's just part of their natural attack pattern and requires absolutely no charging/channeling time for them. That's when you just deal with it and pop defensive skills. For the most part though, watch for enemy "channeling/charging" bar. For example, on those Droids that fire rockets, you'll typically see a channeling bar that slowly decreases called something like "Rocket Fan" (don't remember specific). The moment you see that bar come up, use your Classes interrupt skill, in this case, Force Kick. That will interrupt their channeled action so you don't take gobs of damage. In some instances, the enemy REALLY wants to do that action, so you're going to get hit at least once with their attack. Example: Some later troopers will use Grav Cannon. It sucks (no pun intended) so you interrupt. Well...he'll try to do it again, only his recycle time is faster (i.e. instead of trying it every 10 seconds...he's trying every 8) and faster until finally, he WILL beat your cooldown timer for your interrupt. Also, in some instances, the enemy may have two versions of, basically, the same attack. Rocket Fan vs Rocket Strike (or something like that). One will focus on the tank, while the other will hit all your allies....and they cycle back to back so you can only interrupt 1 dependably. That's when you start looking at your team for help or looking at your other abilities like Force Stasis. You start timing your different interrupts with their attacks and then pretty soon...your taking out Elites at your level with no companion support because you know when to interrupt and what skills to interrupt with.
  4. Graphics bug. Sorry to disappoint Will happen on the express speeders too from time to time.
  5. I guess you could go hybrid on a build to get a "support" effect going, but this game was really designed around the "1 tank, 2 dps, 1 healer" paradigm. So in a way, at least to me, there really isn't a "Support Class" in the traditional sense. Every class has some buffs and debuffs. Some way to support each other and offer more, while still doing it's primary job of Tanking, damage or healing. This is part of the reason all classes have quite a bit of skills is, at least a 1/3 of them are status effects. Bubbles, Stuns, enemy acc debuffs, enemy slow debuffs, etc. Ex. My gunslinger can lower accuracy, stun, trap, group stun, etc. All while still doing ridiculous damage. From what you're saying, for my own reference, it reminds me of a Red Mage. The closest I could see of something truly supportive would be...Consular/Inquisitor? Could do something like this. They have quite a bit of range. They have a skill in a branch that increases their range attacks even further, and you can offer quite a bit of support with movement slows, defensive bubbles & heals, AoE damage, 1 min stuns, etc. I think the only problem is, you may get quite a bit of complainers about how you're "useless" cause you're not cranking out enough damage or can't keep up with healing, etc. I'm sure other people will offer different opinions and options, but I would say... keep playing with the different classes. Get up to, at least, lvl 20. Have fun with it. If you can't have fun with it on a basic level, move on. You may find a class you enjoy that you thought you wouldn't (like the Vanguard you were talking about)
  6. What's locked down as "Event" items/titles and what is returning in the future? That's what I'd like to know. Will I only be able to get X-item or X-title during the event? Am I working towards getting the wrong things? What's coming back when the event comes back? Etc
  7. The jerk in me is reading this going, "This again? Yes, we know it's absolutely horrible and ridiculous and yes....tons of threads have been written on it." The polite guy in me is reading this going, "Yep. It sucks. You must be new here and I'm sorry you have to witness the atrocity that is end game armor/high level armor. On the upside, you can rip the mods out and put it in armor you DO like...but you may not get bonuses Armor Set bonus. Personally, I didn't care. I ripped it the hell out and put it in better looking armor. "
  8. People spend MORE then that on pre-orders all the time. Just check consoles sales. Hell, people pre-ordered Call of Duty with NO info. They just went, "Take my money!". It could've been the worse game in history and it wouldn't have mattered. Spend or don't spend. For $10 bucks, I'm fine with it. I spend more on movies for 2hrs of "entertainment".
  9. I think the feel of Taris is perfect. It's depressing. It's "haunted". It's a "dead planet". I enjoy the creatures and the environment (sans Rakghouls). However...I would agree that I don't like the story and the layout is just...odd. The planets story is pretty stale and dull. I don't feel compelled to "look further" into it. I just want to beat the missions and get off planet. You're trying to recover/destroy the planet (depending on faction)...but I honestly don't get that feeling. I guess some of the missions are pretty good, but generally is just...lacking. The layout is pretty bad. It's as if they had a ton of missions setup to have you scurrying around the entire map...then cut half of it. Half-dead outposts, some not even used, random champs out in the middle of nowhere, area's that look like they MIGHT have had a mission...but there turns out to be nothing. It's all just...odd. Again, like they ripped out half the quests, but then didn't revisit and streamline the planet. Overall, I don't mind it so much. I think the biggest problem I have with it is the same that I have with Balmorra and Corellia. All three planets are in complete open conflict and in complete violation of the Cold War peace treaty...but I just don't get that feeling. All three planets feel half empty. Half completed. Expected more.
  10. Lately, I've been running through Red Reaper, both pub and sith, quite a few times and have been running into this problem where level 50's will join the group...and are just rubbish. /rant 50 tank.... You are not god's gift to the level 45+ group just because you have Campaign/Columi/BH gear. You still die in a Normal FP...believe it or not You are not the almighty one for blatantly saying, "Yeah, I don't really need this...but I'll help you guys out"...and then letting the medic (and/or others) die 2+ times because you don't aggro grab. You still need to taunt. The 45ish dps' aren't killing as fast as fully geared 50 dps' you're used to so...believe it or not...you still need to taunt. /rant While the focus of my rant is tanks running through Red Reaper, I'll also really applies to any 50 running through Red Reaper. Do people just turn off your brains or delete all knowledge on how to run Red Reaper once you figure you never have to do this FP anymore? If so...why do you bother adding it to your Finder list? The number of 50's that I've run this with during the month that just do NOT get this FP is astounding. For this example, I've been using my medics (both sides) and...well...I've died more running through this FP with 50's then I have when running through it with people in my "level range". It's honestly like the 50's just kinda do their own thing, thinking they're "total pwnge" on a "Normal mode" FP....so they ignore any kind of group dynamic. They start chatting with they're guildies/buddies, they aren't really trying at all in the fp and are just there. Not really filling their roll...just....there. I'm not saying this happens with all 50's (obviously), but the amount of 50s that just either: don't get the FP or don't care about the FP is astounding. If you don't want to be there...don't queue. If you're there, treat it like any other HM FP and give it a good go. Please.
  11. It seems sooooo random at times. There's been days where I would log in with my Sith, get ton's of group finder FP's in a 4-5 hour play session. Next day...SAME FP's...not a one. Not a single FP in roughly the same amount of time. Then switch to Pub....and same thing would happen. So it honestly just depends on the day for me.
  12. For me it depends really. Pre-50 Just depends really. It's always kind of worth it to me because you'll get a random drop, you'll always get cash money, and xp is xp. So it doesn't really matter to me. I think I'll skip the occasional mob to kind of get that halfway point between constantly moving/progressing and still getting the XP and Cash from the trash. Mini-bosses I'll always push for getting. Doesn't matter if it "doesn't drop anything good". It's still good xp. It's still money. And it's still a chance to get something good/fun. Post-50 Unless it's a persons first time in the FP/Op...I fully agree with avoiding trash...but I'm torn at a point. For myself, I fully endorse killing trash if it means a Bonus boss is unlocked and we get to fight him. But I'm also for killing all "Boss" types in FPs/Ops, whereas a lot of people would rather skip Bonus & Mini bosses. To me, it's cash, it's crystals, it's possible commendations and it's a possibility at descent gear. Plus it's fun. Makes me laugh when people want to skip these bosses because I've had 2-3 times where we did bonus boss/mini-boss and actually got some pretty nice gear off him. Basically, it comes down to some groups just wanting to be "Efficient" @ 50. I get it...but I don't necessarily enjoy it. And, at times, I disagree with it.
  13. Both factions have multiple bases per planet that have some rather "High Ranking" personnel. It's more evident as you play through both sides doing all the Planetary missions as various "Persons of Interest" usually have some role in the missions and are (usually) on Planet. Example (no names because I don't remember names) Alderaan There's a Darth that's taking serious interest in the diplomatic approach to gaining House Panteer's support for the Empire, and thereby assuring Alderaan's ownership. He's located in the last base of the main story line, in a cave near Castle Panteer. If you play only as Republic, you'd never know this. From an RP perspective, he would be a great target for SIS to tag, capture, kill, etc. Without him, the Empires negotiations will falter (due to Sith Egoism). Hell, I could probably go to each planet and get a list for both sides
  14. H@X0R Seriously though, there was a hack people were using. Dunno if it got fixed or not. Although...that was more teleporting then anything. Not necessarily super speed.
  15. Last night it hit me the most. While I am on the west coast, I still look at these numbers and...sad panda. This was probably around 10 pm PST (1 am Server) Fleet - 60 avg. (Fluctauted between 40 and 80 at the highest) Nar Shadda - 7 people Tattooine - 4 people Alderaan - 3 people (Hasn't exceeded 20 in about a week...imp or pub) /rant I think I'm also annoyed a little at the community though. "Just merge us with [x pvp server]!" This was the most common complaint I've been hearing. Weeell...Jung Ma isn't just a PvP server. It's and RP server first. If you wanted straight PvP, there was literally 5+ other servers to join...why did you join this server? However...RP people...seem to be all but gone this past week or two. RP channels on both Pub and Imp side seem to have dwindled to a handful of people, normal watering holes are drying up (from my perspective) and it just appears that the RP has left the RP-PvP server. So...I can't get too upset at the people asking for straight server merge to a PvP server. For me, I noticed the biggest decline right around the time they did super servers. Then GW2 came out. (or vice versa). Then Exams were happening for a large number of schools. And now...it's become rather unpleasant. /rantoff Is that why it hasn't been merged, because it's RP-PvP? More then likely. Should they still allow transfer off for the people just looking for PvP? Yep. Without a doubt. Will it see a numbers increase when F2P hits? Possibly I honestly don't think they'll ever merge this server unless numbers after F2P really show "zero" activity and I don't think we'll see Server Transfers happen till after the F2P hits either.
