  1. I play as a duo with my partner, our first characters were a smuggler and trooper, which I mostly enjoyed. We ended up trying Jedi and I went consular. I had heard the consular story wasn't that great...and so far I have to agree. It really is slow and tedious. Now I am only level 14 or so but does it pick up? I am trying to motivate myself to stay with the class but its feeling like work.
  2. I think the LFG tool in WoW conditioned players to be anti-social and far less considerate, the results are quite evident...I just don't see how people can deny this. So if Bioware does decide to add this tool, they should also consider adding the ability to add friends from other servers as well as cross-server chat. (I see a server-only LFG tool kind of pointless and won't reduce queue times much, I think.) This will encourage socializing again and reduce the problems with random idiots and lack of consideration. Bioware may as well learn from the flawed design of its competitor and improve it considerably. Just my 2 cents from playing WoW for so long and seeing the pros and cons.
  3. Lolwut. General chat on Republic side is equally moronic and painful to read as Empire.
  4. It's not so much that this game is bad, it isn't. Bioware basically delivered what they intended. A story-focused MMO. They weren't aiming to revolutionize the genre, I didn't think they once ever claimed that. But I think people that were waiting for this game for years had all these dramatic and somewhat distorted hopes, hoping for more then just voice acted quests. (I'm kind of glad I only really started to follow this game a few months before release.) I guess you can't really blame them. This genre is growing stagnant at this point and I'd say a very sizeable portion of players are really tired of essentially the exact same railroaded themepark formula with a new coat of paint. That's not to say this game does not deliver an entertaining experience. I'm enjoying myself and that's what basically matters, really. It's just unlikely the game is going to hold interest long-term as an MMORPG unless it delivers something that differentiates itself enough from its competition. A co-op RPG with voice acting isn't enough long-term. It's still too early to speak of doom and goom and this point, though. I think this game will improve greatly over the next year and continue to grow.
  5. I just don't get this intense hate for Nar Shaddaa. I play in a duo and as a smuggler enjoyed that planet. I guess I'm just a fan of city environments and political intrigue. Yeah there was a couple of tedious long bits, I admit, but its not as bad as peope make it out to be. Same goes with Bamorra. It wasn't mindblowing but it was good.
  6. To each and their own. RIFT's pvp was some of the most fun me and my partner had. I ended up quitting because of how dry and bland the story and world was presented.
  7. Really, anything besides Sith Warrior and Jedi Knight...I just find them terrible in pvp. Such friggin long cooldowns on all your abilities. It seems at one point you'll be waiting like 20 seconds any ability to refresh.
  8. Lol at the European players complaining. I'd like to mention Australian players usually get the short end of the stick everytime with MMOs. Our internet services are horrendous and server maintenence for every game is typically during our very peak times. There are also never any true Oceanic servers (Telstra are too greedy) Suck it up, you're not the majority.
  9. Exactly. If you truly loathe the game so much, quit. Companies understand the language of $$$ better then anything else.
  10. I feel the people who hate the story in this game are the minority. Almost everybody who continues to subscribe most likely finds it the most enjoyable aspect of the game; its the focus afterall. I flatly disagree people don't play MMOs for the story. Believe it or not, WoW actually had a pretty good story going on. Its hard for some people to take the cartoony graphics seriously I guess. The conflict between Horde and Alliance can be complex and not all black-and-white. I have played MMOs with poorly presented stories (namely RIFT) and they failed to engage me for very long. I did not feel part of the world and felt the characters were all boring, despite the PvP being fun. Maybe its not the most important aspect in MMORPGs, but I think it means a great deal still.
  11. This has not happened for me before. Now almost every 3 minutes the game will freeze up, its impossible to play. I tried relaunching completely and tested different characters and its the same.
  12. I think you missed the point. You don't take WoW from 7 years ago, slap on voice acing and cinematic cutscenes then hail the game as revolutionary.
  13. Thank you!!!! QFT X 100. I thought it was blatantly obvious why people compare this game and every other game to WoW, but I guess not. WoW had 7 years to polish, tweak and perfect the MMORPG mold from its spiritual predessesor, Everquest. Any sensible player is going to expect companies trying to compete to look at that, learn from that, take from that and actually push the bar. They've got this 7 year old beast of an MMORPG to study from and learn from. That's why everybody is waiting for Guild Wars 2, because they are actually doing that, instead of spending millions on voice acting and making every kill x or retrieve x quest a cutscene. (How exactly is that revolutionary?) I'm not saying this game is horrible and don't tell me to "quit if I don't like it bla bla bla" Because you know what, I like it for what it is. I enjoy the stories and I like the emphasis on story because I like BioWare RPGs. It's just not really what many expected and wanted from a 2012 MMORPG, it feels awfully outdated gameplay-wise you have to admit that.
  14. I play a smuggler alongside a trooper friend. I enjoy both stories quite alot and really cant see the complaints about the Republic stories. We previously got a Sith warrior and Inquisitor up to about 20 and enjoyed that too. We're sticking with Republic side for no real reason, we just felt like going Republic on a whim. I think it's because we like being on the 'good' side more. Honestly, it's a matter of taste. I like the Empire just as much, its just a different flavor and we're eventually gonna go back to those characters later. The whole commotion about Republic being worse overall is overblown, really. I absolutely *love* Coruscant a zillion times more then Dromund Kass in every way. To each and their own.
  15. I guess emo kids with pent-up anger at the world wanna destroy and kill everything in the game. *shrugs*
