  1. Awesome, awesome compilation!! SWTOR forum's fastest sticky?? (now I gotta run and make sure my one link is up to date)
  2. Okay, I think I understand: when you select the "Create character", there are 3 options: 1) Knights of the Eternal Throne (creates a L65 character and starts you in KotET) 2) Knights of the Fallen Empire (creates a L60 character and starts you in KotFE) 3) Star Wars: The Old Republic (creates a L1 character ans starts you at the beginning) You are in a 7-day (limited) sub you got from clicking someone's RAF link, correct? And it won't let you create either #1 or #2 above, correct? If so, that makes sense. You don't really have a full subscription, and it didn't grant you a "boosted character". But you can still take any character you have, or create (Option 3, from L1), and let you access all the content, including KotFE and KotET. But you have to get their levels above the minimum for that content. That is: play till you reach L60 and you can then start KotFE. But really, don't rush. There's lots of good (I would argue MUCH BETTER) content before that!
  3. That all makes sense, thanks Adric. BTW, deleted the extra Coruscant a while ago. Haven't noticed a problem as of yet. Idle wondering: does the # of SH's changes the delay in opening the legacy storage? Not that it matters much, though it is a minor annoyance. Mostly, I just wanted to have NS on my first SH page.
  4. Thanks for the education, appreciated .... as is a good healer in a FP or WB
  5. Only certain abilities will work on certain targets. Have you done all the following? (given what you wrote, some are obviously "Yes", but might as well be complete) 1) Game>Controls>General - clicked "Enable Focus Target" 2) Key Bindings > Targeting - set a key for "Focus Target Modifier" 3) Key Bindings > Targeting - set a key for "Set Focus Target / Swap Focus Target" ? (default is alt-F) So I just checked on my Commando (has some heals) in my stronghold. Clicked (1), Set (2) to NUMPAD8, checked that (3) had "alt-F". Selected Elara alt-F - her focus window appears (did you not get this?) select myself (just to make sure she isn't target) depress (and hold) NUMPAD8 - purple arrow appears, some abilities are darkened use any of my heal ability shortcuts on quickbar - they heal Elara So, that all works for me
  6. LOL, you got that right! But back on SWTOR... There have been hundreds of "what is best class story" threads, and many interwebz polls. Reading a bunch, the general consensus is: 1) Imperial Agent 2 & 3) Sith Warrior & Jedi Knight 4) then mostly Sith Inquisitor 5,6,7) battle between Smuggler, Trooper, Bounty Hunter 8) Consular Now, your mileage will vary. The above are just my reading of previous discussion. Personally, I think the much-vaunted IA story is a bit overrated. I probably would go with Knight & Warrior, then IA. And I don't hate the Consular story, but I certainly don't put it in top tier. Oh ... and KOTOR first definitely Last, I'll mention that while the stories don't really interact, they all occur in the same universe, and the events of one may be referenced in another. Given that, I think for someone who plans to play all, and is really into lore, I might suggest a certain order. Specifically: I'd do Knight early. Maybe after Consular though. And I'd leave the Imperial Agent for last. Just mho.
  7. Nice necro See the official RAF page But since you are already subbed, you did miss out on the initial use (before you make a SWTOR account, you link to an existing sub's RAF) What you can do: a) Put your RAF link in your signature (but DO NOT make posts about it, or put it in your subject or body of your post), and hope people click on it to get you some goodies. b) 90 days after your sub expires*, you can again link so someone else's and get 7 days sub and the Preferred Friends Bundle mentioned on the RAF page. * though I recall reading that it may work one-time even when you are still subbed??
  8. Steve, though cynical, is as always, on point. Unless you want to rush to end-game activities, I'd recommend putting that boosted slot away for a looong time. It really spoils the stories. In fact, I've never used either of mine.
  9. And really, unless you really prioritize looks (or have much cash to burn on CC), save your CC for unlocks! See many other posts on this, but I'd prioritize: Going Places Bundle (for Rocket Boost, trust me, you want this!!) Extra Cargo Bays Extra Inventory Slots maybe Hide Head (and get the account-wide, not the single character versions)
  10. I'll add an addendum to #8: Assuming you sub for one month, let it lapse, and continue to play as a Preferred... 90 days later, you can again link to someone's Refer A Friend, and get 7 days of sub (what I accidentally just did!). But more importantly, you get a [one time] Preferred Friends Bundle, which includes: Unlock: Inventory Module Unlock: Crew Skill Slot Customization Control: Display Titles Customization Control: Unify Colors All these unlocks are mailed to every character you ever make (existing and new, and even when back to Pref)! And since you already Pref'd, which gave you a second crew skill slot, you now have all 3. No need to buy the unlocks! (Ditto for Unify Colors/Display titles). It's a nice little perk. So again, I absolutely do recommend that if you find you like the game from your limited F2P time, do sub for at least 1 month.
  11. Thanks! And I 100% agree with all your points. [Except I'm not a crafter, so no Crew Skills for me. More in next post] I found the 2 quickslots to be very annoying. With Pref status, you get 4, which (as you wrote) is more than sufficient. Still, my order would be: Going Places Bundle (for the Rocket Boost) Quickslots (though, as noted above, you can take care of that by going Preferred) Inventory Cargo Bays Stronghold Storage Bays Maybe Hide Head (though with Outfit Designer, there are workarounds] I'd surely put Artifact Unlock on there, but it is VERY expensive. And frankly, most of the above are as well, especially as you will want the account-wide (not single character) versions if you plan to go Pref (which gives you a lot more character slots). In the past, you could just sub for a month, get a lot of credits, and buy on GTN. But last I checked virtually no one sells unlocks anymore
  12. 100% agree ... that's why it was my point #8 With my main, that's exactly what I did. After Coruscant, I subbed for a month.
  13. Note: LOL, I accidentally used a RAF link for the 7 days. Might as well update my post , hope you don't mind the necro Adric: yes, as you suspected, you only get the blue Heroic gear if you are a sub (not F2P/Pref). @ Mithros: that's what I meant by "limited" So I stand by what I wrote. And buying green mods at fleet is very cheap. And as a F2P/Pref, you will be quickly looking for ways to spend your 200/350K just to avoid the annoying chime.
  14. As usual, Mubrak is spot-on ... ... though I admit my inner min-maxer makes me consider both color and stat. True. And the crafted have nice, standard, primary colors. But they won't be collections unlockable. So next time you switch out a mainhand or offhand, you'll either have to: a) Buy a new one (~20K to >20,000K on my server), or b) remove from current and insert into new, at a cost (~12K credits?)
  15. Okay, I'm now preferred (even though they haven't disabled my posting access). Here's what I've found so far... My conclusion (details below under "quote"): It is pretty much what they intended: unbound purple gear is artifact authorization locked. And, all L65 and above non-crafted gear ... including green as well! So all those "Outlander xxx" green drops are unavailable. So, I'll probably be spending the 2700 CC for the unlock. If you don't want to, at L65, your paths as I see them are: By cheap L65 green mods for your custom shells and live with 210 gear. Buy crafted L66 blue 220 gear. Craft, or spend a lot for blue mods on GTN for 220 gear.
