  1. my earlier post aside, I'm actually inclined to believe you. it dawned on me after I posted my outrage , that you're so upset with the practice that you might actually be trying to make the devs and players aware (more aware?) of the right-justified problem. after reading your post above I see a bright mind at work and offer my apology for not catching on sooner - well played Sir and good luck !
  2. most if not all 'sharpshooter' gunslingers will take the Sharp Aim upgrade. for weak mobs it won't really mater however, as you get to higher levels you'll find it a valuable (necessary) perk for aimed shot. hope this helps -
  3. turn down the sensitivity on your mouse. makes a huge difference. to learn more on how to target and shoot check out Scrab's youtube GSF vids... Scrab's GSF channel also, check out Drakkolich's educational stream post (and stream too of course). both very good pilots and very helpful for new players. best of luck (in before "the necro is strong with this one" posts - )
  4. just saw this... Warning !!!... Possible Spoiler for SW 7 http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Biggest-Star-Wars-7-Spoiler-Possible-Just-Hit-Internet-67500.html
  5. Welcome back Fesst Dizben !!! and thank you for your service in the CT National Guard a lot of things have changed but the game is still a blast to play. if you have a chance check out the Galactic Star Fighter forum and give GSF a try in game. the learning curve for GSF can be a bit tough but is worth the effort imo. (we die hard GSF'ers are always looking for new players to fly with). no mater what server yer on there will be some very dedicated pilots so check it out hope to see you and your brother in game and my the force be with you ! ps: love the enthusiasm bro, take care
  6. windows 8 and 8.1 run the game just fine. make sure you download and install DirectX 2010 redist and c++ 2010 as well from the microsoft website. both are needed to run the game without problems. DirectX and c++ 2010 also, make sure that all the hardware drivers are up to date. as you're talking a new computer the drivers should all be in good shape however, win 8 had a lot of problems with older (non win 8) drivers. tho most of the problems center around upgrading the OS from older versions and just needing to upgrade the drivers to win 8 as well. good luck
  7. actually, at high levels the main abilities (highest damage and damage boosts) requires you to be in cover. however, a gunslinger using the 'sharpshooter' skill tree is highly mobile. when leaving cover you get a movement (speed) boost as well as major defensive boosts too. trick shot, speed shot, leg shot (a great slow), plus all of the grenades are abilities you can use out of cover and are a lot of fun as well. (dirty kick and blaster whip are the only melee attacks but are very useful either in or out of cover). take the time to visit the class forums. great info on gear, ability rotations and how best to play the class. while Sentinels are my personal favorite, my gunslinger is a blast to play. I can spend as much time out of cover as in cover depending on the situation. basically a gunslinger is a heavily shielded mobile artillery platform, and can drop some awesome damage and stuns on single targets or mobs of bad guys. smuggler story?... get rich, get the girl (or guy) and look like a hero while you're doing it (Han Solo - ) hope this helps and welcome to the game - edit: just reread your post and if 'slash and move' plus 'highly mobile' is your thing then take a close look at Sentinels. for PvE leveling I'd say go Watchman skill tree. a Sent is designed to be the most mobile class and very heavy on the slash part. (plus ya get 2 light sabers... whats not to like? - ) Best of Luck !
  8. lol, +1 for Sparky the Terminal. makes me laugh just thinking about it -
  9. I vote Aye for the OwenBrooks help desk. many thanks Owen. keep up the great work ! ps - devs, if you make an OwenBrooks regen item I will gladly pay 600 cc's to buy it. (gonna get the Dulfy item with my next cc grant - )
  10. I fail to understand your need to be so insulting. perhaps that says more about you than anything I wrote. I happened to save what I wrote and while it's admittedly not up to the writing standards I try to maintain it was not as bad as you've characterized. I've written many articles over the years and made a decent living from it. an experienced writer knows constructive criticism would have been far more useful. I'll not respond to this thread again so feel free to flame away.
  11. thank you for your input. very helpful. feel free to quote and edit till it meets your ****** writing standards. or better yet add some tips for GSF players. thx again.
  12. as I fly mostly pub side it's their evil alts that I see most often. fear? no. though when I first started I found myself thinking 'damn, these guys again' more than once. now I see them and it's, 'nice, should be a good match' pilots I would add... (apologies in advance, can't remember the exact spellings)... Cassandra, Alliemera, Magnatard (tho haven't seen him in a while), and yes, SithAce as well there are many good pilots on harbinger and wish I could remember all their names, tho I've noticed a lot of new names and have no idea if these are just alts or new players.
  13. this ^^ as many have pointed out, if you allow a GS to just sit there and rack up 15 kills then you really have no room to complain. there are many strategies for dealing with gunships. no strategy will work every time or in every situation. but as someone who only pugs I find killing gunships very satisfying. practice is the key and focus GS's and keep those kill counts down
