You can only change your diciplines while in a cantina or stronghold.

I don't seem to be able to choose an advanced combat style during character creation. Has this been moved to a certain level?

Scaling now working on Korriban. Regular content (as has been for quite a while) is easy. (Haven't done end quest yet) Heroics (done without companion) seemed a touch more challenging, but just a touch.

Was checking the changes to level synching on the lower planets. Killing enemies produces no loot. This includes mission loots. I.E. while doing Friends of Old on DK, the demolitionists are not spawning the thermal detonators, making the mission impossible to complete.

with a new build character I get a "you don't have a ship error" someone suggested starting Kotfe or kotet, but Galactic Command does not show them before they are started and the only terminal for them is on the ship. The only solution I can see is playing the story through the end of the capital planet. Can we get a better way?

[Heroic] Information Appropriation has a cutscene that is highly spoilerific, so I would suggest avoiding that mission if you are worried about such things.

One small problem. With a new build character you cannot get to Ossus, as you have no ship (unless you do the story through the capital planet)

Currently my favorite villains are the Detweiler family from Weber's Honor Harrington series. There is just something fascinating about people who can be so lovingly supportive of one another while discussing using nuclear weaponry on their own people to cover up their escape tracks.
