  1. I still like the idea someone had for Sins (and you could make it the top tier talent if they extend the tiers)...the idea to tie Recklessness to an old style self heal on Force Lightning. Makes Recklessness a little more useful, gives the whiners a sense of old days past (but with a CD), and gives us something more akin to a Jugg's Enraged Defense.
  2. Ok. My previous comment a page ago was just me being snarky. A good point that was brought up was to look at this as an opportunity to tell NEW healers what their tanks are looking for. So this time with a little less snark. Healers...take the time to learn a little about HOW the tanks take damage. What I mean is...know enough about the fight and different damage profiles to make informed decisions about when to heal the tank. Some fights the damage profile is smooth. You can go ahead and just leave me at 50% health with a HOT while you finish topping off the rest of the raid. Some fights...you HAVE to keep me above a set % because the boss does frequent (and large) spike damage. Learn which tanks are more prone to what damage from which boss.
  3. I think what would have really helped would have been to release content in a different order instead: TFB SM S&V SM TFB HM DF SM S&V HM DP SM TFB NiM DF HM New SM S&V NiM DP HM New HM DF NiM or something along that line to where you weren't grinding the same *********** instance through 3 levels (2 if you consider SM DF/DP was a step down in gear and waste of time) Woulda worked a lot better than to just go TFB S/H and S&V S/H at same time Both NiM DF/DP S/H/N
  4. I agree that this question really kinda pertains to PuG and GF situations since in progression you should already have a rapport with your healers. So...on that note... I only expect 2 things: 1) Don't be a prima-dona...you're not that good and 2) Keep up.
  5. Just get you a couple pieces of high endo gear to boost your health, then right before the first pull...swap them out. Then...when you don't wipe they will never notice.
  6. As a new tank....this right here sums up everything. IMO... This is the key thing to tanking.... Knowing...well...knowing everything! Knowing what mob/boss is going to do next and when. Knowing when to interrupt...when to pop a CD....when to move, etc. This just me...but I'm the kinda guy that is gonna spend the day working on those mobs that keep killing you, just to learn more effective ways to do things. I used to try soloing world bosses (knowing I would die) and see how long I can last by learning how to rotate my CDs and kiting techniques, and anything else that would help me survive for as long as possible. Eventually you'll surprise yourself.
  7. My UI is pretty stock with some minor specifics to accommodate the fact that I am one of those dreaded Clickers. Abilities are in specific clusters to facilitate reaction times. Raid frames are usually just to the left of the focus target along the left edge. About 90% of the time I use focus for my co-tank. The only keybinds I use are for Focus Swap is bound to 'F' and my interrupt and P2T are both bound to foot pedals. Other than that...pretty basic. All the regular nameplates are turned on, but most of the flytext is turned of except for 1 or 2 specific things.
  8. WOOHOO! My favorite topic! I have one keybind. ONE! I bind my interrupt to my left foot pedal. Everything else? Click, Click, Click, Click,Click, Click,Click, Click,Click, Click,Click, Click! OMGYOUPIECEOF*****IFYOUDON'TKEYBINDYOUSUCKASSYOUPIECEOF*****!!!! Click, Click,Click, Click,Click, Click,Click, Click,Click, Click,Click, Click!
  9. I would say the class rather than the spec. I will admit that clicking does hinder my performance while trying to heal. But for DPS and especially tanking.... I have zero issues as a clicker. I've clicked my way thru 6 years of progression in WoW and all of this game since it launched (almost 2 years is it? Hell I dunno how long this games been out now...rofl) and have gotten pretty good at it. I've always clicked and could never get myself coordinated enough for key-binding. I've tried...just couldn't do it. That's why my UI's are very clean and tailored...to accommodate my clicking.
  10. Sorry...but I always have to chime in on this particular discussion. I know everyone always screams about it's failure.... But it IS possible to master and be very successful as a CLICKER! Just sayin.... Makes for a great challenge.
  11. I have to disagree with you on this one. The DR isn't minimal. I still get my 4 stack and it stays up 95% of the time. I just don't spaz about my stacks falling off. As far as spikiness...I felt a DRASTIC improvement on the spikiness. Hell...I almost feel OP again.
  12. You highlight a good point. Your goal is to do MULTIPLE things besides just maximizing mitigation. I think that is the underlying problem a lot of these people are having. they are getting so fixated on 4 stack uptime that they are not "maximizing their uptime" in their other duties. The point of the OP was simply to point out the fact that if stacks DO drop off, it's not as catastrophic as some people are acting like it is. I like the new system...it's challenging. And yes, as a tank I DO want it to be on 100% of the time, but I'm not going to neglect the other things i have to do in order to achieve it.
  13. Instead of looking at it as a function of damage ie: DtPH, DtPS, biggest hit.... What about something in the realm of mitigation? Most absorbed attacks.... Largest absorbed attack... Most avoided, etc. Something like that, that you could use to quantify how well you are keeping up your bulwark and DP. What statistic would be viable for that?
  14. This is the part that keeps killing me. Everyone is so fixated on four stacks falling off. In the case above, this individual feels he has to drastically alter his playstyle and rotation because heaven forbid the stacks drop. My challenge to everyone is to say "F the stacks!" While of course you want to always try to maximize them...don't let them consume you. If you tanked an entire instance with zero stacks, it would probably really suck. But the 2 or 3 seconds they "fall off" are not gonna wipe your raid. Just try playing it like you always did PRE 2.5 and focus on your 3 stacks of HD instead of the 4 stacks of DP. I too, started the run "fixated" and it caused problems. After a couple bosses I said to myself, "this is ridiculous", and I quit caring about the 4 and focused on the 3 like I always have. And the night got much easier for both myself and my healers. Will I be getting the "Most Optimal" benefit by not having 100% uptime? Nope...and I don't care, because I also won't be letting "Uptime Anxiety" throw me off my game either. I accept the fact that they are gonna fall off. Hi...my name is Grumpf and I let my stacks drop. But then again, I'm the kinda guy that looks at things differently. If I got in a car wreck and I'd be too excited about having gotten to see a real life airbag in action instead of caring that my car just got totaled. But that's it...that's what this is....people are suffering from "Uptime Anxiety". (insert Viagra joke here) I wonder if I could take this to a shrink and hold BW liable for mental distress and uptime anxiety. Money scam of the decade.
  15. Regardless of whether it's 2 bosses or every boss. The issue is not that critical. In those situations...IF your stacks do fall off, most likely you are sitting with a 2 or 3 stack of HS/HD ready to cast TKT/FL anyway in which case the stacks will go right back up. So you will have 2 maybe 3 seconds without a 4 stack of SP/DP. According to the calculations....even if you went an ENTIRE boss fight with only 50% uptime on 4 stacks, it's only a 60 DtPS difference. 2 to 3 seconds becomes non-issue. That's 180 to 360 HP you might lose while you get stacks back up. As far as extending the time...I would feel comfortable in going up to 15 seconds as a QoL stress remover. 18 seconds (imo) would be too long and take the challenge out of the mechanic. 24 seconds and you might as well just get rid of the mechanic and embed the 4% DR in the talent tree. Of course then everyone would gripe even more about class homogenization. Me personnaly, I give the Post 2.5 changes a thumbs up.
