  1. Bit late on my reply, but I'm actually getting fantastic results with Nord. My route has changed entirely, and I'm now going through a completely different set of hops. Part of the problem with my area though is that I always route through ATL by virtue of it being THE hub for the Southeast, so if there are any issues at all in that area I'm screwed. I will say that I derped out a bit, and never changed my Router's default settings for a lot of things... I get pretty much the same route without using Nord after modifying some settings (DNS server is no longer the Hargray default, among others).
  2. I'm using Steam, but I downloaded the normal launcher to test and it didn't help any. I did download NordVPN and am using the free trial right now, and I've had literally no lag in the past... hour? Whereas without the VPN I'm getting a huge spike every 3 minutes.
  3. Just to add to what TrixxieTriss has been saying, I've pretty much 100% confirmed the issue with my SWTOR lag is happening about halfway through the route. I live in the Southeast US, and I'm seeing significant latency spikes (~200-400ms) and Packet Loss (~35-80%) along hops 4, 5, and 6 in my route to the SWTOR servers. I'm also seeing spikes right outside my home network, so that's my ISP's problem. PingPlotter Trace Looking at the names, they're backbone routers that are causing the issues - two in Atlanta (Telia) and one in Washington (F**king Level3, as always). I've currently got a Service Request open with my ISP to see if they can do anything about my route (it's worked in the past!), but until then I may try a VPN's free trial. As someone in IT with experience in Networking, Routing, and several other aspects, TrixxieTriss is golden in their statements regarding routing and lag. You can have anywhere from 4 to 400 (exaggerated) independent routers between you and whatever endpoint you're reaching out to, and a problem at even ONE of those hops can cause your whole connection to go straight to s**t. With any luck, my ISP will be able to re-route me around these hellhole routers and my connection will improve significantly.
  4. Is there anything worthwhile from the time period between TOR and Episode 1? That spot interests me the most. Edit: I saw on the list that Jandi linked that there are QUITE A FEW books from this slot. Are any of them ACTUALLY good? I don't want to wind up getting into an 18-part series only to find it goes downhill in quality halfway.
  5. I can't remember where I saw it, but someone posted elsewhere that if you watch 4, 5, 2, 3, 6 and just leave 1 then everything actually makes sense still. To everyone else: I probably should have mentioned that I've played both KotORs... and pretty much every game set in the Star Wars Universe aside from Galaxies (I wasn't into MMOs at the time).
  6. Hello everyone! I've always loved the Star Wars universe/lore. I watched the movies in the 'correct' order (IV, V, VI, Terrible(I), Okay(II), and This Actually Explains Vader a Bit(III)), and I have attempted to read a few of the EU novels. My only issue so far is that I don't know where to start. I read the first book in the Thrawn Trilogy and enjoyed it, but then I looked at the timeline of EU they had at the back and it is... daunting. It doesn't help that my library doesn't even have half of the books... So suggestions! What should I read first? Which book/comic/what-have-you has been your favorite? Addendum: I should also state that a small part of my problem is that I sometimes wind up finding "Book 2 of 4," but can't find the others.
  7. I concur. I've played a few MMOs, and not one of them (other than SWTOR) has sent me random in-game mails full of free stuff. I was surprised when I started getting things just for being p2p.
  8. Anything that you receive that is not part of the initial subscription agreement should be considered free. If you walk into a store and they have a BOGO Free sign over 24oz sodas, do you get uppity with the cashier and claim that the second soda isn't free, the cost is the price you pay for the first? If so... wow...
  9. You... You uh, might be playing the wrong kind of game then...
  10. Hey all! I put this under Cybertech 'cause that's the main crafting skill I'm worried about, I've already got my Biochem on my main maxed. My question is, if I'm already past the point where the beginning craft-able mods/enhancements/what-have-you are useless, is it worth it to RE them? Should I just rush to the point where the crafted items are helpful? Should I bother trying to sell the "[Descriptor] Mod 2" on the GTN? Thanks!
  11. I still don't get what is so hard to understand... Straight from the ESRB Site So long as the currency used cannot be purchased with real money, it's considered 'simulated gambling.' And for those arguing "for the children!!!" If you're a parent and want to make sure that your 13+ (The game is rated T, afterall) kid doesn't see something you don't want them to see, then you monitor them. If this kind of thing were to be implemented, then maybe add a warning screen before you enter a gambling establishment. "Yo. Simulated Gambling. Make sure you're 14 year-old can handle the concept."
  12. If someone in the WZ says "Hey, maybe next time try this instead," or "[spec X] isn't the best spec for PvP, maybe look into [spec Y]," then I'll respond positively. When someone /w me and says "OMG. WHY ARE YOU SO BAD?! Try not to suck again." (has happened), I'll generally just /ignore them. Not everyone doing bad things in PvP is a 'bad.' Hell, I've been playing MMOs for years and align with OP's idea of what many low-level toons are (alts), but this is the first game where I've enjoyed PvP, so it's the first time I've ever done it. Sorry I don't understand the mechanics, but being an *** won't help me.

I guess I just wind up getting the teams that don't know how to focus down the healer first.
  14. Hello everyone! So I've played a few MMOs before (WoW being my main thing for the longest amount of time), and no matter how much I tried, I could not get into PvP. It just felt so... off to me. The other day, however, my guild held a PvP event and, though I didn't participate, I decided to pop into a few WZs just to see if I could maybe get into it. I LOVE IT. I'm not sure what it is, but SWTOR is the first MMO that has ever captured my attention with PvP. Now, I want to get a few pointers on what to do pre-55 to make sure I don't suck *** once I hit 55, and advice on which spec I should focus on (Level 46 Sin DPS right now). Thanks in advance for any help!

    BuFF Republic!

Shadowlands pre-55 PvP is stupid. Ten different times as an Imp I got stuck on a team with no heals. Four of those times, there were four DPS (This happens mainly in the Arenas). EVERY TIME, the pub team had at least one healer...
