  1. If you're parsing 1450-1500 DPS in actual boss fights (at lvl 50 with tionese and recruit gear and some 61 mods in a weapon) it sounds high to me. Unless you're talking trash mobs, or just short term burst as opposed to a typical ~5 minute boss fight? I would expect those numbers from Rakata+ gear. I use mox parser during raids and Askmrrobot & ACT for parsing & going through logs. To get an idea of and to compare your numbers to others in some ops fights take a look at http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/combatlog. From the menu on the left you can select ranked logs.
  2. I don't know what will be optimal or most sought after in 2.0 as things may change. This post is based on my knowledge and experience of the end game. As of now, I would happily take a commando and a vanguard as DPS. A shadow will have to demonstrate his ability - there are very good shadow DPS out there but unlike say a commando who barely knowing his class can do reasonable DPS, doing good Shadow DPS requires knowledge of his class. Shadows can be great tanks though I have seen two scoundrel DPS who were good and were able to keep par with the group... Everyone else I've seen to date do subpar DPS often doing less than tanks. I personally don't know any teams that have a scoundrel mDPS on a progression raid team. Scoundrel healers though are quite sought after.
  3. I can't speak for all raid teams out there but most I know including my own generally balances the DPS by having 2 melee and 2 rDPS. Some encounters are made harder by the existence of more than 2 mDPS e.g. Zorn & Toth, Dreadguards in TFB. Yes it's possible and I have done these with 3 mDPS but it requires that the team eacts properly and quickly and there's less ability to compensate if one messes up. When working on progression, I'm not sure that many guilds would want 3 mDPS on a fight if having said three mDPS just introduces more complexity to the fight. I also would caution using NiM KP as a yardstick to judge ops requirements - this is an OP that most raiders don't return to unless for fun, since more than six months.
  4. Did you miss the part where he described it as a power surge item? The point is not whether the item itself is called a healer item but whether its stats get your toon to where it needs to be. e.g. my sage healer used to have a Rakata Stalkers generator - not the force-mystic one because the stats better fitted what I needed to be BiS. Alacrity was the only stat that would have been best for healers but with the new expansion even that is not true. And no just being a healer (and I say this with a main healer) does not automatically entitle me to loot that would be an upgrade for other people. If an item drops that's an upgrade for me and someone else - we both roll need and luck takes care of who wins it.
  5. OP I hope you don't feel bad - the tank and the commando were just ignorant. I've noticed more people in end game who have no clue what they are doing, about their classes let alone other classes. The other day I had the great experience of being grouped in T5 with a DPS & tank who had no clue what they were doing. The tank was what annoyed me the most - he couldn't hold agro, he would wait between trash pulls because he just HAD to lead with mortar volley, he would pull a boss while DPS is killing a patrol somewhere else, he wouldn't read chat, he had no idea what he was doing and would then pipe up from time to time to say things that were completely incorrect about the mechanics (like kill Ripper first). I was overgeared so I could keep them up except at the beginning when he pulled a large mob before two of us were even there. I wish I could say I voted to kick but I just left after 45 minutes, when my annoyance level reached too high. If you are new mention it, read chat and follow. If you don't know where to go, watch and follow. Ask if necessary. If you don't know mechanics ask or don't say anything. Saying incorrect stuff is actually worse. And please to god if you're a VG tank, learn to tank so you can open without mortar volley...
  6. Black hole and Hazmat implants and earpieces have been removed is my understanding
  7. lol QFT... Shame that all challenging content just HAS to be dumbed down...
  8. Thread title is 'Hardmode "manners"' Oh the irony...
  9. Pub side. But we found someone till expansion comes out. Thanks for the interest.
  10. You get ONE set of free gear... Your five companions perfected the art of wearing one hat? Have you not met any cybertechs (richest folks on servers busy crafting 27 ears, armoring and mods), artificers (27 hilts and enhancements) and armstechs (makers of 27 barrels)?
  11. How about when the tank is the one doing it? We've come across the same sin tank twice now in FPs who loves to push his enemies.... usually while we're aoeing. Sometimes he charges up and leads with a push We tried explaining... We tried telling him "dude don't do that! " He stopped for a bit then restarted. So we gave up and decided to laugh about it each time he did it.
