I very much want SWTOR to succeed. However, its (probably) forced early release is only going to damage it. Any rational player will understand that it's not a case of flicking a few switches and "game fixed", but the current MMO community expects better, especially from such a reputable company as Bioware and the money powerhouse of EA with 5 years development.
I said in another post somewhere that the game in its release state might have been acceptable 5 years ago, but if you want to attract and impress nowadays, you simply can't release a game with the amount of bugs/poor itemization/lack & ease of content that SWTOR has had.
What boggles my mind is that nobody higher up the chain at Bioware/EA recognized this fact. Am I wrong? Is the MMO community actually very forgiving? I really don't think so. First impressions mean a lot.
I really hope the devs get all the fixes and new content delivered quickly, or I see a mass exodus when GW2/D3/whatever next big console game comes out (that's if it hasn't already bled it's playerbase by that point).
As people in other threads point out - there are some very minor problems in the game that still haven't been addressed and are not in the upcoming patch notes (rakatta weapons/typos/lack of roll system etc etc). These things could very easily be fixed in a few days maximum. Not doing so makes the community feel as though the devs aren't playing their own game and have their priorities wrong. Surely this is incorrect, they must have dozens if not hundreds of employees playing so...what the hell's going on? ><
