  1. ya, definitely. Snipers are soooo good at single target DPS, especially since there are about 100 ways to LOS us in any single BG, our damage (besides lethality) cant even touch most tanks, and healers easily heal through our damage despite the fact that we are one of the only pure DPS classes in the game. Cover is the dumbest thing ever to be implemented. BW said "Lets give snipers, the class that is supposed to be subtle, a huge, red, neon sign that says 'KILL ME'". Before you make generalizations, try levelling a sniper and PvPing with it at 50, maybe then you will appreciate how easy Sorcs are to play comparatively.
  2. I agree completely. I am a 50 sniper, and I hate sitting there and waiting for the stupid flames to go down while I see teammates, enemies, etc running through them like they dont exist. Why is it that one class has so much utility in EVERY BG? In huttball they can cap faster and more efficiently than any other class, they have the best resource of any class, they have more mobility than any other class, and they absolutely spank most classes 1v1. I play lethality and most of my encounters go like this (keep in mind that I am only about 3/4 geared): 1. I open with weakening shot, start my rotation. 2. i see ABSORB, ABSORB, ABSORB on the sage/sorc. 3. they either run away while im paralyzed from breaking their bubble, or they attack me. 4. i try various knockbacks, CC's, etc. to kite and keep up my dots, but they easily heal through them/ throw up another bubble. 5. I either escape somehow or get destroyed by the sorc if he/she is competent at all. There is a huge disparity between sorcs/sages and every other class in terms of utility, CCs, and overall battleground effectiveness. It never surprises me to see a sorc score 5 points in huttball and top damage. When every class except for 1 or 2 is bad, you know it isnt the players, its the game. BW needs to fix the huge gap between classes in PvP somehow and they need to do it fast. I swear to God if I see one more sorc/sage premade win against my team in under 5 minutes im going to throw something.
  3. Hey guys, I am looking to do some 50 bracket PvP and was wondering if my current spec was viable. I have a 5/31/3 spec going on right now, but I am willing to adjust if it is a complete fail. So far my opening rotation is basically Cover->ambush->explosive probe->interrogation probe->snipe->snipe, etc. and it seemed to work great in the 1-49 brackets. I typically put up between 120-260K damage/warzone depending on length, and I was always in the top 2-3 for damage dealt. I also had good survivability and seldom ran out of energy. I know that Lethality is a good spec for PvP, but I would prefer not to use it so please refrain from suggesting that sort of change. I guess my question comes down to this: Is my spec okay for 50s PvP, and, if so, should I alter my rotation at all? Thanks in advance for any suggestions
  4. Lokin by far. i have literally died 1-2 times from 30-something when I got him to 50. The only issue I had was when he would randomly stop healing me to do something pointless, but this was rare and nothing a shield probe couldnt get me through.
  5. Why should I HAVE to go Lethality for PvP though? Almost every other class has 3 viable talent trees while we are left with one that doesn't even mesh with our purpose. We are supposed to be SNIPERS! It is so stupid that we, with our long barreled, scoped rifle, have the same range as someone with a pistol. How does this make any sense? In addition, we are slaves to the cover system in 2/3 trees. I personally play engineering and have good success. Damage wise, I usually tap out at around 300K and average 230-250k, but this is only if i play smart (These numbers are based on a lot of 1-49 bracket experience and very limited 50 bracket experience with no gear). However, my heals are always between 0 and 10000. How is it fair that I, a pure DPS class, do comparable damage to a hybrid class that heals for 5-6 times the amount I do. Lethality allows us to do damage, but it forces us to rely on dots. If I wanted that, I would go back to WoW and play my Warlock. I chose to roll a sniper because I wanted to take a rifle, aim for the weaknesses in someone's armor, and shoot them from range. As it is, I rely heavily on an interesting but poorly implemented cover system, an unfortunate energy system, decent DPS, and poor armor and utility abilities. Is Lethality a good spec for PvP? Yes, but should not be the only one that we can play. I love engineering because it is fun and does good burst, yet I am continually told that I will fail in PvP because of low damage and the disadvantages dealt to me by BW.
  6. SPOILERS BELOW!! Okay, so i just finished the AMAZING story by defeating hunter (or huntress) and taking his/her black codex thingy to the Minister of Intelligence, etc, etc . Anyway, it seems that all questions I had have been answered besides one. What is upstairs in Intelligence Headquarters on Drommund Kaas? As you enter the building, there seems to be an elevator if you look straight across the first room; however, we never get to see what goes on upstairs. Does anyone have any ideas? Have I just not played enough into the post game (I havent even started on Illum yet)? IF yes, please tell me; if no, lets make something up.
  7. Hey guys, so im new to this class and just hit lvl 10. I am now wondering what the general consensus is about the effective DPS builds for consulars. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. Okay, so I can deal with the whole 1.5-2 second cover activation time thing. What I cannot deal with is constantly being CC's, knocked back, or some combination of the two, thus rendering a healthy majority of my abilities useless as I continuously get pushed out of cover. Honestly, this system needs major revisions. At it's core, I concede that it was a good idea, but when implemented into a game as haphazardly and poorly as it was, I just don't know what to say. Snipers are supposed to be THE long range damage class. Right now, we are THE easy kill for any other class that isnt played by a moron. Lets face it, the whole damage reduction behind cover is useless. I dont care what the situation is, that damage reduction is negligible when Sith Inquisitors get free shields that seem to have no cooldown. Even if we put the cover issue aside, where is our healing ability. Every other class, and I mean every single one, has some way to heal themselves other than that useless talent tree ability that no one takes. How is it that a sith inquisitor can top damage and healing in a game of Hutball, while snipers who arent geared struggle to break 150000? Where is the balance? How is it that I get killed or seriously wounded by other classes in a matter of seconds while I have to go through the laborious cover system, wait for a cast time, and then try to CC the opponent before they kill me? We need something to change about this class. It is already the most underplayed PvP class in the game.
