    No arenas? Bye

X.X Haven't seen a thread where people complained so much about an entire segment of a games population. You don't see glads complaining that about the PvE people who never do pvp, do you? Golden rule people, don't forget it. Anyway... I agree with the op in a lot of ways. Lack of an arena-like format is going to turn off a big swath of people. Just like a few others have said, pvp in a current MMO needs to be tuned towards the content of 2012, not 2007....there should be some option to play in small groups instead of simply warzone grinding. There are plenty of ways to balance it and make it less of a problem than WoW did. For example, simply not giving high ranked arena teams incredible gear. Maybe just give them different looking gear, lets say purple lightsabers with a blue core, with stats = to battlemaster gear that anyone can easily farm from arena OR warzones. I know a lot of us gladiator types would be satisfied with that. People like me are not in it for gear grinding, we're in it for the competitive feel of the gameplay and some way to show that we did well, assuming we did. For me, and ALL of the other rival, glad, (and R8s in rift, etc in other games as well as I play or have played serious pvp in many) people I know prefer arenas to warzones because of skill level and the enjoyment of playing other, similarly skilled people. Warfronts in every game I've played, from WAR to DAoC to WoW to Rift etc etc, are EASY to win provided you have some skill. Same in this game, when I do a warfront with one or two of my friends, we absolutely roll the enemy team all night, every night. That's 10-20 games of straight, fast wins with no close games since launch while we were leveling. I'm sure there are one or two guilds like that on most servers. The reason we WANT arena is because we're more likely to get a challenge from it. It's not that interesting to just noobstomp on weaker players in a group setting. I mean me, I'd rather not noobstomp them because then it discourages new people from PvPing and getting good at it. The more ppl playing pvp the better I say, so I wouldn't play WZs if I didn't have to. As far as balance goes....just say upfront that you're not going to balance the game around arena and don't. Bam, problem solved on that front as well. That was WoWs problem with arena, if any of you guys talking about it being WoWs 'biggest mistake' had checked....the amount of effort it took to bring the games PvE and PvP systems both into balance. There were a lot of easy fixes they could have made and never did, but oh well, they didn't, and thus many problems were caused with balancing. Even with all of the balance issues, more work = more money and that's exactly what wow had to do and that's exactly what wow got in return for it. It's still the biggest MMO out there. It still makes money hands over fist. More work sucks, but it's not wrong or bad. Work ethic these days. :[ Either way though, the OP misses the point when it comes to PvP. If EA (not blaming bioware on this one) doesn't start working to fix the lag in PvP, they can and WILL lose the majority of the hardcore PvPers. They just won't tolerate a game that rewards bad players for playing poorly and gimp good players with slow response times + 'added stun' from stand-up times etc. Actually a lot of people will leave if they don't fix similar bugs in PvE. This game feels so much like they released it 6 months before they should have in an effort to get the xmas boom. I really hope they change their attitude about money vs. quality in the long run, but since EA is running the show (and we all know how EA thinks about supporting its own games), I kinda doubt it. But here's to hoping eh? I want to see this game succeed.
  2. It's hardly a one trick pony. Have you looked at the focus tree at all? It's impossible to get them off of you since they have 2 charges and a constant slow (and dot) on their target. ALL of their crits crit for massive amounts, and all of the force abilities cooldown faster, not to mention have tons of cc capability in force exhaustion and cheaper freezing force. It is strictly better than vigi for any sort of pvp application, or aoe application for that matter. As well as the typical guardian/jk toolbox in choke, push, taunt and challenging call. One trick pony? Hardly. 400k damage out, 65 kills, 50k protection. It's not hard to do this as focus. Yes, you were talking about focus guardians. ;P
  3. ^^ This. Y'all are talking from the perspective of a lower level, remember that. The game DOES get quite a bit more difficult. Especially the last boss of the main class questline. Also, if you haven't had trouble 1v1 against a focus guardian, you weren't fighting a competant one. ;D I autocrit after singularity for 4700. And I'm not even geared yet....seen screenshots of guardians autocritting their force sweeps for well over 6k on multiple targets.
  4. If you REALLY want to throw down some damage in a pvp situation, go focus. I've posted nearly 400k damage out, 65 kills 0 deaths a few games.
