  1. Have you considered adding a way for a player to "ping" a guild to let them know they are interested in joining? I won't ask for a full-blown application system in-game because that's probably going to be a little over the top, but some way for players to perhaps browse through recruting guilds (sorted by tags) and then push a button to let the GM/Officers know that they want to be contacted regarding the guild would be kinda neat.
  2. Have you seen how people sit in this game? Can you please tell me what you were thinking, and perhaps for the legacy either now/in the future, could we have an alternative way of sitting. I've noticed that the Npc's can lean on walls and act cool for example, is there a reason as to why we can't?
  3. How aware are you of RP griefing? Every other MMORPG has always neglected this area, and often people who decide to jump up and down on roleplayers and spam aoe abilities etc etc haven't been punished. They are destroying immersion completely and often leaves the roleplayer with only one option to move away from the area. Also, can we have an update on being able to sit on chairs/barstools etc in the cantinas and so on, or should I go ahead and rolle a scientist character to study the phenomena of people never needing to sit.
  4. Will there ever be some ability to craft social outfits? It would be a great added feature, I'd love to be able to help my fellow roleplayers with getting some decent outfits that doesn't involve having to go out and slay half a planet because they need a specific pair of pants.
  5. Will you be able to re customize your characters fully when you unlock the new abilities (for example, if I can change my cyborgs implants, can I change her hairstyle too to get a new "look" that matches) or will the rest be locked?
  6. People (especially roleplayers) have been requesting more "social abilities" to do with your character, such as sitting on chair and leaning against walls which many npc's can but players cant. On the ships however we do have the option to sit on some of the chairs, and as far as I know you once said it's something you were still working on. However recently there has been little-to-no mention of this from the developers (as far as I have seen at least) - could we get an update on this, are you still working on these areas or should we not expect to see sit-able chairs outside of the ships?
  7. If they're icly griefing and I see someone emote or say anything to them, I usually have my character react as if the person is talking to thin air and obviously must be a bit of a coo-coo. Has given some fun situations xD
  8. You could add Consequence to that one. People always gets surprised over blatantly obvious consequences from things such as a bar-fight. Before anyone engages in anything combat-like, they need to understand that if **** goes wrong, their character could end up dead. The amount of times I've seen people end up in situations where the chance of escape is close to impossible and then they go "By the way, you can't kill my character cause I won't let you oocly", throwing an immunity card. Of course character killing is very severe in most kinds of roleplay and I'm not saying people shouldn't ask for consent about such, but people should at least be a bit "realistic" so to say. Beyond that there's often many ways where one can roleplay ones way out of a near death fight without even mentioning oocly that you don't want your character to die. But that's just one example, perhaps a bit of a drastic one - the point of it all is that people need to embrace all of the consequences that comes with every action. If you disobey the words of a Darth, there'll be hell - on the other side, if you do everything they say, you might just get rewarded (thus a positive consequence, but people somehow have very few issues with accepting the good stuff) Ignoring consequence will ultimately end up with drama and angry people, and it can severely hurt the immersion. Otherwise, nice guide ^^ Easy to read and understand.
  9. The problem is not that there is no RP on the RP servers. You just do not know where to look. After years of roleplayers being haunted by Non-RP'ers through RP-griefing and what not, it's become a tendency for rp'ers to hide, and keep their events secret. It's the only way to ensure minimum griefing, but a perhaps unforeseen consequence of this is that new rp'ers on the realm has no clue on where to look. Often if one asks in any general chat, they'll be met with trolls immediately, or people who in general has no knowledge of how the state of the server is, thus giving misguiding answers. What you want to look for is: - Channels designed for OOC communications between RP'ers, these are usually called Rp - Republicrp - Empirerp - Rpempire - Rprepiblic and so on. The command to join one is /cjoin Channelname Ask around to see if there is any or head to your server group forum and look for server information threads that may contain the names of said channels. - Fan-made character databases such as The Progenitor Archives and Codex Ulgo - In the guild recruitment section of the server group forum you can often find RP guilds on your server, check out the posts and write down some names - you can then whisper them ingame and ask for guidance. Often GM's know of guilds that might be suitable for your character if the one they lead is not, and in general GM's have a good foot inside the community. - And lastly, try and see if you can figure out where the hub is. At this point the size of TOR doesn't exactly help, but people usually use cantinas on the various planets. Try to search during prime-time in the evening.
  10. I don't think it's up to the community to decide on what should and shouldn't be enforced. Like it or not, there are people who enjoy and have fun with roleplaying in ways that outright clash with what most find appropriate and acceptable - to the point where usually there is no middle ground to meet on. Where as I don't wish to embrace breaking key-rules within roleplaying, it's not up to me to tell someone to stop doing it. If it really bothers me, I could give a whisper and state my opinion, but I don't have any right to assume that they'll adjust to what I say. Eventually the people who were bothering me could find out for themselves that the majority wont roleplay with them, which might be an incentive for change. When it comes to enforcing standards, I think the only viable way to go about it is through the guilds. This of course leaves out the pool of people who find that being in a guild is not for them - but they're few in comparison. I'll always expect any guild carrying the Heavy RP tag to enforce some kind of standard upon their own members. If someone can't live up to it, it's easier to deal with. However once more I don't think the community should dictate directly what guilds should and shouldn't enforce, it variates a lot from guild to guild what can be enforced in the first place. Personally I prefer verisimiltude RP, but if I come across something else I'll always try to wrap around it in a if anything half-decent way, rather than opting for ignore straight away. Another thing that others have probably pointed out already: Do not take things such as titles or levels into an IC account. I once experienced someone calling my smuggler ship-less because she was a level 15, where as the several page long background story I wrote for her states otherwise - you can't see what a character is at first glance.
  11. I believe the crew skill Diplomacy rewards you either dark or lightside points.. That's one way of getting them, at least.
  12. Who am I? I am about to take an informant course, which will hopefully enable me to travel around and talk about a subject close to my heart, in front of other people and such. With presentations! Otherwise I am jobless.. Can being a guild-leader be a real life profession someday please? :3 What class did I pick? - Human smuggler Why? - Rolling over the floor, shooting things in the face and doing it with a smirk? Seems like my kind of thing, for a game at least
  13. The droids are really epic, I absolutely love them.
  14. I wish we could go ._. Damn the states for being so far away! D:
  15. I think in every game, the player have to give some room to adapt. Now speaking especially for roleplay communities, it often takes a lot of time to get a "clear" image of just exactly where the roleplay is. WoW for example had the great benefit of being a seasoned game, people were used to it and thus it became easier to roleplay in. TOR is still taking babysteps in terms of communities, so that is definitely something you'd want to keep in mind when exploring - you might have to look very closely to figure out where in the galaxy people are. Being in the roleplay channels for each faction is recommended, and you might have to proactively ask for roleplay too. As for the levelling experience, at least from a republic view (the only view I know) it gets better and better after Alderaan so even though levelling could become very tedious at times I'd urge you to keep on going and then seeing what you truly prefer. Perhaps think of end-game as well, when you're both level 50 then what kind of roleplay do you want to see most of? To me there seems to be a huge difference in what the two factions can offer. But I think my point here is that even a month of playtime might not be enough time for you guys to really test the waters. Give it some more time and I am positive you'll figure out how you can enjoy the game
