  1. The scene here is largely community based. If you're looking for top-tier competition you likely will be disappointed in the end. My comment about "six weeks" is based on four years of watching guilds come in, flex their muscles, then disappear without a trace.
  2. Not original Tequila, clearly an imitator of the highest order. Over/under on how long this lasts is at 6 weeks.
  3. You absolutely crossed paths with them back on Sanctum and in fact tried to join them with your Shadow, Vodka.
  4. With an interest in providing support for Republic PvP I decided to finish leveling my Shadow. However, with the knowledge that one toon typically wont' make much of a difference, I started to look for a guild. Pax has been on my radar for a while, and with the knowledge that they exist across a spectrum of MMOs, and that I would always have a guild no matter where I went, I decided to put in an application. Say whatever you want about Pax, but never say they don't like to have fun. Long term enjoyment of a game is contingent on that one aspect. Fun. I have enjoyed my time in the guild so far and even in the face of excruciating losses, they never forget that this is a game and that we should be having fun while playing it. This extends even to the application process, as they interact with you during the trial period to really get a feel for who you are and how you can fit within the guild. That said, I haven't had this much fun in a long time. I'm looking forward to more.
  5. I really cannot stress this enough but I've been having so much fun over the past week grouping with people in PvP that I'd forgotten some of why I got into it in the first place. If you like to PvP then you need to do yourself a favor and join a guild that PvPs. It doesn't have to be a serious PvP guild, just a guild that PvPs together and has a desire to improve their play. People whine about premades but really, we're in an MMOG. Massive Multiplayer Online Game. Emphasis on Multiplayer. The game is better with other people, and that extends to PvP. If you don't agree with this then sorry but you'll have to (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) Deal with it.
  6. You're... not helping. I should note that in my trip to EW I never saw this, not even once, not in two-and-a-half years of playing.
  7. Been leveling a shadow. Since most people don't like to do it I tend to volunteer for guarding, and when I have a chance I've been trying to toss out helpful "reminders" so I can pass on some advice. Simple things like "Healers are marked. If you leave them alone you'll never kill that guy you're on, so kill them instead!" and "Learn to read the map. If your guard calls out that he has 3 incoming, then 5 don't need to break off and go help." A lot of the disconnect is people don't know how to play objectively. I hope to help with that as I can. Since I'm already EW on Triggle, no reason not to lend my services to Republic side in this.
  8. I'm in agreement up to a point. A bad loss is the quickest means to get people to say "screw this" and go do something else. I have thick skin and even I have my moments. I think if it's a hard fought battle where the other team is clearly trying and yet are clearly overmatched, that's when you should probably pull back a bit. Yeah, you can argue it doesn't accomplish anything, and you're probably right, but sending 6 people to take over grass in a Civil War probably isn't the best course of action in this scenario. You either want to help people or you want to build a community within Republic PvP. The two are not mutually exclusive but you do have to ask yourself, on occasion, not "Can I?" but "Should I?" It's nice that people are working both sides of the coin at the moment but the ultimate goal is to foster Republic PvP to a point where this isn't necessary.
  9. I had to read this post a few times to really try and digest what you're trying to say. After a while I sort of rested on a couple of things. The first is that people don't want to be mean, and that people don't like people being mean to them. The second is that people especially don't like people being mean to them after they've spent a good deal of time getting their look just right before they head into a warzone. The third is that people should still want to win but should be nice about how they go about doing it. I hate to sound trite, but are you being serious? To the first point, PvP isn't about being mean. It's about Teamwork. It's working together to accomplish the objectives of the warzone in a manner which produces a favorable outcome for your team. You should understand this coming from GSF and frankly I can argue that there's more "mean people" in GSF than the ground game but that's probably a matter of opinion. That said, there's nothing ruthless about it. PvP, by it's very competitive nature, is prone to high emotions. Some people do indeed take losing way too seriously. Anyone who PvPs should expect one or two of those in each match. The difference is how you let it affect you. In the grand scheme of things though, the winning team is usually the one that works together the best. I've had my fair share of matches where my entire team was at the bottom of the barrel in kills and medals, and yet still won. I'm not sure how to take the second point. I personally try to create a distinctive look for Triggle that people will recognize beyond the name and I know my wife is the same way with her toons. But that's purely for visual recognition and in reality it means little during the course of a battle. Mostly I just see names. And fire. Lots of fire. But you seem to insinuate that people are overtly attached to their toon, even to the point of it being a physical extension of themselves, and that putting themselves into harms way via PvP has catastrophic affects on them. Well, honestly, if that's the case then they probably have some things they need to work through in the real world and PvP in SWTOR should be the furthest thing from their mind. As to the third point, when it comes to PvP you have to want to get better. The main driver behind this is seeing other people play who are better than you and wanting to meet or exceed them. I cut my teeth on Game Genie back on Sanctum of the Exalted. They were so far ahead of everyone else in terms of teamwork that it forced the Imperials to either get better or keep getting pounded. Back when Fallen Order was more than just Vind're and myself, we spent a lot of time banging our heads against the Game Genie wall and working hard to get better so that we could give them a run for their money. I want to say that before the Great Server Merge of 2012 that we were one of their tougher draws in a match, but I will say that playing against them made us better players. Sometimes you have to suffer the blowout loss. It puts things into perspective and allows you the chance to correct mistakes. If you take a bad loss and just rage about it, then you're doing yourself a disservice. Becoming a better player is as much about learning from others as examining yourself to see where you need improvement. I still take cues from other people, I still want to learn, and I still want to get better.
  10. The TLDR version is basically that when Obroan was top tier PvP gear, you wanted to get that for everything but MH/OH and for that you'd run with whatever mod level kept you near max Expertise. It hasn't been updated for Brutalizer, but that post basically said the difference between Obroan MH/OH and non-Obroan MH/OH was pretty slim so my current assumption is that Brutalizer wins out since we're basically just now "catching up" with the item level breakpoint that Bolster hovers around anyway.
  11. First match yesterday was rep vs rep. The word is out. It's up to the community to make something of it though.
  12. It's important for the people who do know what they're doing to speak up in WZs. This doesn't mean you need to yell and curse and scream when someone makes a mistake. As I've come to learn over the past few days, the knowledge level is pretty shallow on Rep side. Some people just don't know.
  13. Ancient Hypergate became my least favorite WZ after one where we double capped one round and denied the other team in another round and lost during x7 because our team was tanks and healers with one or two ineffecive DPS so we couldn't get hardly any points for kills. Back on topic. I'm working to gear out my Guardian so I can be effective. Will definitely be rough for a bit.
  14. You never met Dash'to. Heavy RPer but also one of the best Merc Healers, hell one of the best PvP players to run on Ebon Hawk. He won the Battle Royale that was held at one point, I think it was last year. Participating in one activity doesn't preclude participation in others.
