  1. Whichever I click on first between my 47 Scoundrel, my 28 Mercenary, or my 13 Gunslinger. I also have a 53 Shadow that I've stalled on. Might just top him off as well. I've never done one of these double XP weekends? Are they really that bad? Why are people against them?
  2. In a lot of the novels they describe a brief moment of fire (using the oxygen that's leaking out after a hull breach) before a ship dies. So if you need an explanation, just say that your ship is leaking gradually, allowing just enough to allow for flames. (I understand this is entirely unlikely, so... suspend disbelief, damn it!) Also, on the topic of sound, you would definitely hear sound originating on your ship (so your own engine, the sound of your lasers being fired, or you being struck) but you wouldn't hear anything originating from another ship (so the sound of your enemies engines or the generation of their lasers). So it wouldn't be silent.
  3. Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison was excellent. And as a plus, it's over, so you can read all in one if you so choose. Dawn of the Jedi was bad. KotOR was... ok. I'm not fond myself, but it's not bad. Legacy is good, but I feel it kind of loses it's Star Wars feel, at least for the first dozen issues or so. The rest I don't know, and for KotOR and Legacy, I haven't read them all either.
  4. Why would it be fitting for another title? Darth is a contraction of Dark Lord of the Sith. As you'll notice, Lord is not included in the title, so Darth could just as easily be Dark Lady of the Sith. Even then, though, female Sith have used Lord regardless (though some have gone for Lady). EDIT: Just wanted to mention that I'm aware that referring to someone as the Dark Lord of the Sith fully usually places them above a Darth on the Sith totem pole. Regardless, it's where it comes from in-universe.
  5. The trick is that what a Jedi is capable of has changed, but a lot of Luke's big stories were written before the prequel trilogy, and most of what has come after has been more in line with the OT concept of the Jedi as well. Example: In one of the early NJO books, which was just after Episode 1 was released, Luke downs two YV with straight (though impressive) swordplay. He was leaning on Jacen on his way out of there because the entirely passive use of the Force had drained him. Since then we've seen Jedi throw pillars at each other, throw balls of energy at each other, create lightning storms at a whim, teleport, and decide the outcomes of massive large scale battles. That said, Luke is shown to be very powerful despite his lack of comparable feats. If for nothing else, consider the amount of respect he earned from people who had very little reason to give him any. (I gather FotJ changes this a lot, but I have not read.)
  6. If you had more than 12 slots full, you can play all of your characters, but cannot create new ones until you have available slots.
  7. No I'm not. I'm saying that's where I am now, but that I'm looking ahead to 50. I am asking about single target DPS rotations at 50. Anyway.... lots of conflicting opinions in the thread right now.... so I'm not sure what to take away.
  8. I understand where you're coming from, but I think you're forgetting something. The Dark Side of the Force is scary as hell. The Dark Siders may just want to increase their knowledge and power, but that is precisely the proverbial deal with the devil. It never goes the way you want it to, and it will betray you and cause unimaginable damage before it's through. The Jedi have infinite reason to ensure that practice of the Dark Side is routed out so fiercely. This isn't close-minded. This is simply to preempt the atrocities the Dark Side makes inevitable. That said, the Sith make sense for the first half of their climbs to power.... then they start to go a little odd. (Side Note: Some SW authors do better to represent this than others.)
  9. Then you haven't seen it yet. You will. But with that said, I hope you enjoy it.
  10. The JC story could have been done better, certainly. But I don't have a problem with the repetitive structure. (Keep in mind that I finished the story at launch.... so it's been a while) You always had the same choice. But why wouldn't you? It was the same big bad and you've given no reason to change his strategy. I don't think this would have been such a problem if they created progressively more tension in the choice. Specifically remembering Rajivari's principles from the prologue, where was the voice that was questioning whether you'd be able to save the next one? Why wasn't I accused of playing the short game by saving each master? Who was telling me I was too important to be doing this to myself? Certainly a LS Consular would still shrug off these objections and do the right thing anyway, but I think this kind of thing would make the repetitive nature of the choices a major benefit of the story structure. You can't really worry "but what about the next time?" or "how long can I keep this up?" if you don't know that this scenario is going to repeat itself. Another thing I think would have been interesting and added weight to the choices would be: But as it is, it's a passable act to a good (not great) overall story. I'm not majorly critical of it, but I certainly recognize that if I have to try and think up reasons why the choices matter beyond what's presented, the story isn't doing a good job. EDIT: I wanted to add based on your BH comment that the BH story makes this repetitive choice a non issue by giving a consistent character reasons to choose one way on one planet, but choose another way on the other. For the Consular each progressive choice gives you no reason to change your mind.
  11. From what I'm seeing there, everything is divided into rigid blocks, so if I were going to SS -> PB -> OS, I should still do that and save the MS for the next round. Makes sense. I don't really see anything about full Focus over there, but if I'm reading you right, you're saying to use other abilities to drain Focus first? I have to imagine this would happen a lot less on bosses than it is happening to me now, anyway.
  12. Rationality need not apply to the Sith Empire but, from the mindset of the Sith at least, I don't really agree with you. Anger and fear are very important to militaristic societies. In order to maintain order in the face of decisions that the Empire makes, you have to have a constant "enemy". Right now, anger and fear are directed at the Republic. (If you're thinking "How many Sith Lords have you seen that are afraid of the Republic?" I'll get to that in a second.) Even in times of peace, there has to be a threat, imagined or not. Anger and fear keep the Empire running. From the perspective of an the Sith Order itself, the Dark Side isn't the Light Side. It isn't about to offer you something for nothing. The Dark Side demands fuel. The most available fuel for beginning Dark Side practitioners is fear. Fear of their masters. Fear of failure. Fear of death... so on and so on. So you get a taste of the Dark Side, and we all know that from there "forever will it dominate your destiny." And then it escalates. Fear gets you your start, and then comes the anger (hate -> suffering was it?). In the later stages of the escalations, the practitioner isn't himself anymore. And then rationality really does just go out the window.
  13. Hey Guys, I'm playing my Vigilance alt, and getting close to 50. I've been running based on the rotation posted on Noxxic but it leaves me with some questions. I know this won't matter before 50, but I want to know before I hit there. First, is Sundering Strike still top priority when you're at full Focus? That's the way it's written over there, but that doesn't seem right. Second, should Master Strike be used if it'll put Sundering Strike off by a GCD (e.g. I intend to SS -> Plasma Brand -> Overhead Slash -> SS but Plasma Brand resets the CD of Master Strike. The list tells me that Master Strike is a higher priority than Overhead Slash, but using MS would push SS back 1.5 seconds and SS is listed as top priority). Thanks.
  14. But as pretty a picture I've painted, it's not as bad as people say. It has it's high points, it's low points, and it gets progressively better until the end. So there's that.
