  1. I don't see TOR as unsuccessful right now. I don't see it going much below it's current "ranking" of all mmos. As someone else said, what will determine where they go from here is dependant on what they do in the next approx 18 months or so. There are a lot of things they could have done better, definatly. There are a lot of things that should have been in from the start imho as well (dungeon finder to me is a prime example.) Those things to me, are things that are almost the "standard" of features in modern mmos. Mounts (which they had), dungeon finder, mail (again, had) and a number of other quality of life things that most players look for. The lack of some of these is the reason that some of the older mmos are dieing. DAoC sadly, is the prime example for me. I really miss that game and, it was the first mmo that actually kept me on more then 3 months. I feel that Bioware can pull this off though. Eventually being top (if the don't royally f up) with a couple years of content. I don't play it nearly as much as I did when it released. However, I can't bring myself to unsub. I still like playing but, with summer on I don't find myself sitting to play it as much now. There are some games I decided to pick up out of my backlog of games I want to play (ME3, SSX and a few others.)
  2. I still get the same response a lot. I do a lot of crafting (I actually love to do it for some reason.) Most times, if I have the materials, I'll do it for free. Material cost if I don't. Where this came into play is in spell crafting in DAoC. People would charge some exuberate amount to spell craft even low level gear. To put it in TOR credits, it would likely be well into the 100mil area (yes, I typed in MIL.) I would charge cost, which ended up being around (in TOR credits) 5k at the very most for that high level gear. People just could not believe that I charged so little and, that cost was so little when everyone else charged such large amounts. The trend continued on into WoW and, goes on here in TOR as well. Both for crafting and, helping people out who need quest help or just that little bit of beginner guidance.
  3. Yes and No. I usually try my best to use proper punctuation, spelling and word usage (think you're and your.) It is rare that I use short cuts, don't capitalize or not use punctuation. It does bug me but, I have slight OCD tendencies. My wife thinks it funny that I go around the house lining up light switches for example. When I write something outside of the game, like this for example, I usually comb over it a few times to ensure wording, spelling and punctuation. When I was still in the U.S. Air Force, I worked in a career field that had to deal with performance reports and decorations. Ensuring that they had proper formatting and such. I was usually the one they went to when they had a bullet or sentence that they needed better wording for and, wanted to make it have more of an "impact" statement. Despite the fact that I cross trained on the job and, primarily managed the squadron's computer account. As for my background, I completed high school and did a few semesters of college online towards a degree in computer science. I didn't finish before I had to move, due to orders. I can't really do school now due to memory issues. It would also be a waste of time because I can't work currently (and most likely never again.) I'm not really a grammar nazi, though it does bug me when I see it online. This is especially true in professional writing, such as news websites. To me, proper grammar usage and, all aspects tied to that have slipped dramatically over the years. With the worst offenders being news agencies. I would expect an editor to make sure that their best foot is being put forward online. For me, improper grammar makes that agency look bad.
  4. I'm enjoying the game and, there really isn't any other game with PvP that I want/like to play. Don't like GW 1 or 2, DAoC doesn't have the pop or feel that it once had. DAoCs community has gone way down hill as well. I don't like WARs PvP and, WoWs PvP is as boring as watching paint dry. Any other game I didn't mention, are done so because I don't like the game. I'm holding out for server transfers right now. I hope that rated will also help but, I'm not holding my breath on that. I have a feeling that they will just cause ques to take much much longer. Even after transfers.
  5. Learn to lead your team mate when passing. If you're getting focused as a BC, start looking for open team mates. If they're running your can lead them and they can catch the ball running. I've done this multiple times and, it's always resulted in a score. A running team mate is less likely to be noticed by the opposing team as most recievers stand still and face the BC. It also gives the opposite team less time to react to the new BC. By the time they do, the new BC is usually long gone.
  6. This is why I'm on so much also. My low body feels like it's being stung continuously and, gaming helps me ignore the pain. I haven't gotten any new games since TOR came out though. There are a few that I want to get but, I'm waiting on them to drop in price at the BX. I used to play GT5 while I waited on PvP ques when we needed the 3 wins to finish the daily. Now I finish quickly enough that I don't really do that much. Though I have been getting an itch to race lately : )
  7. Warriors of the Shadow. I'm having fun still. I finished the BH story line and, I've been working his PvP and dailies. As well as working on getting a custom set of OJ armor that I like, with aug slots, for both PvP and PvE. I'm also working on my Marauder. Working on crafting still and, slowly making good money on the GTN. I don't see myself getting bored of the game anytime soon. Though I will be taking a break when XCOM comes out.
  8. I posted a seperate thread which, of course, got closed by a yellow. HEY MODS!! I got a little secret to tell you...if you guys will put out ANY word on cross server or a somewhat solid date of mergers, then these post will stop. You won't have to deal with those posts again. BTW, "Sometime in the summer" or, "When 1.3 comes out" isn't even close to a somewhat solid date. Something like 22 May 2012 or, at the least June, would be great. You're contributing to the death of your own game. Avengers is out of the theaters, time to close down a few of those excess theaters.
  9. It's enough now BW. Time to act NOW. You're bleeding more subs then needs to be. If you would cross server que pvp, it would at least be a bandaid until the server mergers. We shouldn't have to reroll on Fatman just to get a game. I've got time invested in my home server. Which used to be consistently high pop and, is now low consistently. There are PLENTY of other players with the same issue and time invested.
  10. I like that idea. The Friday "Q&A" should get overrun with the same issue as well. Waiting for a PvP que that isn't going to pop is frustrating at best. Then to get the que to pop, on the avg of 45 mins, only to get rolled because you don't have enough on our team or have an AFKer.
  11. Warriors of the Shadow (which used to consistently have high pop btw) averages around 45 mins to pop the 50 WZs. Sometimes it takes me longer, sometimes shorter but, avg 45. Other's may have different avgs then me though. I've seen others complain that they haven't had a pop in over an hour. You would think that putting the servers up from the start with the ABILITY to flip on cross server from the start would have been priority. At the very least, on the list of launch options for this very reason. I really don't believe that all of these issues are a complete surprise to a company wanting to enter the MMO game.
  12. This happens to me CONSTANTLY. DON'T leave just 1 person to gaurd a node. You should have 2 to gaurd the node, unless you're losing really really badly. I can usually hold up against another player but, it's usually not just one player. Suggested adds to the OP: MARK THE HEALERS! If you see a healer on the opposite team, mark them. Concentrate on that mark. You won't kill **** until you do. Watch your resolve builders. Blindly throwing up something to a ball carrier, for example, doesn't help the team at all. It only makes it so that the person waiting to hit them with the knockback can't do it now. Don't use anything that breaks on dmg. Try not to run "in the open" to get to a node. For example, in Civil War. Dropping off the bike just ot immediatly cut to grass lets the opposing team know what the plan is. They can see you doing that. Instead, go to a side that you hold and cut under mid (preferrably as a group.)
  13. It would be nice if they could find a way to put UW nodes and Treasure nodes on the planets, as the other gathering skills have (all but investigation I think anyway.) This would help get people out on the planets and maybe help with the low RNG metal missions. Why they haven't fixed it yet though (as that would be MUCH easier), I have no idea on. I will say though, I make a good amount of credits selling class 5 gifts on the GTN!
  14. Suggestion: I found it hilarious (especially when the servers were jam packed with players) to be on one of those "you're special" quests. There is one in the Jedi starting planet (can't remember the quest name) that there was an npc sitting there trying to move a rock and can't do it. I then move it for him and his master shows up. While he's talking away and saying how rare it is that anyone could lift that rock, there are 10 other players behind me lifting the same rock up lol! I always imagined him saying "It is very rare for someone of your level to lift that rock (someone lifts it) besides that person. (another person lifts it) and that person..." First time I did that quest I laughed til I cried.
  15. I'd prefer a model kit but, I realize those would have a limited market. I'm leary about any models BW puts out. People asked for the ME Normandy model. When they did release it, people said it was about 6" long and not very well made. I like larger scale models personally. Something around 10 - 12" would be my preferance. Again though, limited market and, probably not worth their production value. As for ships, I didn't like the D5 at first. However, it has grown on me. The Phantom to me, is hands down the best looking ship. The rest are kind of bland to me though.
