  1. Indeed. Took one look and very quickly ran the other way. That's not even an option, honestly
  2. That's not 'verification' , that's an industry standard practice, built into the software that EA/BW is using. That's not security, that's a cookie, nothing more, it's session based. As soon as your IP changes, the cookie/session expires. You'll find you also have to login every time your session expires. clearly not, if he's advocating this as a 'security enhancement'. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thanks for providing a good laugh, but that's all it is, just a laugh One of the first things any good security expert will tell you is to remain as hidden as possible, to give out as little information as possible. Guess what, you've already given out one of my pieces of login information. Sure, it's only one, but it's STILL one of my pieces of login information. More secure? HARDLY. Adding IP verification? GREAT, thanks for giving yet another way for my account to be locked. What, never heard of a DDOS before? It's called 'distributed' for a reason, because it's spread out across multiple networks and blocks. So, now, you've just provided some script kiddie a quick and easy way to lock my account. Genius, thanks man! This was NOT ALWAYS THE CASE Whenever this changed, was a huge step back in security. Oh, he's not pwning anything, just proving how little he actually knows about security here. Go on, believe his garbage if you want, but he's not actually pwning anything. This being changed from private (email) based login to public name login was ridiculous in the first place. To force individuals to use the public name to login is just ridiculous. Basically, what's being said here by a self proclaimed 'security expert':
  3. Way it was done previously: login using email, (which someone would have to guess), and password . More secure Way it will be done now: Login using username (which EVERYONE knows) and password. LESS secure Because an IP ADDRESS is not a form of 'security. limiting logins based on IP address is just the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of (well, almost as ridiculous as just giving users 1/2 the login credentials to get to my account, or anyone's for that matter). What about individuals who travel frequently, but want to play? What if someone moves? There are HUNDREDS of variables here, and limiting logins by IP on an MMO is just RIDICULOUS.
  4. This won't actually protect anything here. Nothing at all. In fact, there's a layer of protection that's removed here because of this. What part of 'you now have half my login information' do you not get? And I'm the Queen of England, the sky is really purple, and the world is flat. If you have your CISSP, then forfeit it immediately, because you clearly know very, very little about security
  5. EQ, EQ2 , Tor, D3, LOTRO. WoW. Aion, Rift Nope, not many games, and certainly NONE of which required me reading patch notes just to figure out where some ridiculous decision moved something that is pretty much in ONE PLACE, everywhere, and has been since day one. To add to that, I have developed my share of games back in the day both for others, and by myself. Never once did we actually move something that is in one standard place like this somewhere way out in left field.
  6. And someone shouldn't be expected to go through 6 months of patch notes just to play a game. Nor, should someone have to go through a forum just to figure out where an option got moved because the devs have no respect for their users. I could care less about 'interface editing'. No, really, I could care less about that crap. I shouldn't have to sit around and try to edit an interface, or try to figure out just where things are JUST to get 3 more quickbars, something EVERY OTHER MMO makes available in options, something this game made available in options until they decided to tweak things way beyond where they should be.
  7. So is an opinion. It's incredibly and completely subjective. This I burned myself out on MMO's years ago. WoW, LOTRO, AION, SWTOR, Rift, played most of the major ones. Dropping the Rift sub in a couple months, and I'll just focus on this one, for now. Too many people wanted too many things, and you just can't please everyone... So, the ones that weren't pleased, or the ones that complain about this and that are just, well, it's all nonsense. Not even close Name another MMO that takes you from through a fully customized (for each class) system. This system depends on your choices, mind you, something we haven't even SEEN in MMO's Name another MMO that gives companions, as in depth as the ones in SWTOR are to every class. Name another MMO that, from day 1 was as concerned about security for it's players as SWTOR is. Very, very true. It is definitely not. This game is more of a "have fun, play the game, explore our content and story" kind of game. They may (eventually) focus on PVP, but they need to get the bodies in the world first!
  8. That's the problem The game is just over 6 months old. Things like this should't be moved THAT soon. I found it, though it took me a bit to find. There's really no need to be moving stuff around on people though.
  9. Yeah, how are we supposed to activate these now This really shouldn't be this difficult. Put it in preferences, where it should be.
  10. When I first saw the look, my impressions, not that good STILL, not that good. Honestly, it blends together too much. There's no more 'notification' of posts and the 'forum management' section is just horrible. STILL no TZ offset available. What, were they trying to hide the fact that they use the worst forum software available? Because it really isn't working.
  11. This is hardly a central feature. It's a feature They looked at the way it was progressing, they said no, it doesn't work right, as it is, and they put it on hold. THAT is how things should be. Nothing in life is ever perfect, and rage quitting simply because they didn't add your favorite feature into the game is a joke in and of itself. As they've said, the feature WILL be added, you just need to have something that gamers aren't known for..... patience. It will be added, and when they do it will be working properly (hopefully), rather than all bugged out like it is now. Until then, there's plenty of other features for this game.
  12. You should ALWAYS be logging off in your ship. Then you come back, do your ship dailies, go out and quest. To add to that, your ship is just like cantinas, a 'rest zone'. You're in space, you're not going to have a 'home' or a 'house', other than your ship. It is what it is.
  13. They've already said they're looking into it, have some patience.
  14. The bots are not designed for combat. They even tell you that when you pick them up. That specific companion is a ship based companion only, as are all the bot companions. Their sole purpose is to stay on the ship, and handle your 'away' stuff (missions, etc). They're not suitable for battle, they'll even tell you that.
  15. There's also a planet that's got Republic/Empire kiosks right next to each other, right next to a pvp area. I forget which one this is.
