  1. And that honestly makes all the difference, dude. :-) At least to me it does. On a PVP server, go nuts! I would. I'd be Darth Cheesy Bread as soon as physically possible. Oh, and Hrisskar, I read your post more carefully now, and I understand. I wasn't trying to suggest all non-RP names are chosen by children. I just have to wonder why they rolled on an RP server.
  2. Hi all, Thanks for the feedback on this conversation. Again, it's not my intention to offend anyone. Syrocc, those names /are/ funny, and I would laugh at them, but by the agreements associated with being on an RP server, they're inappropriate for that format. All the same, I'm saying 'leave them as is'. I'm just assuming someone calling themselves Justin Bieber probably isn't interested in roleplay. Swamper, I get what you're saying, but what I'm going for here is to recognize how labor-intensive that really is. Trust me, my dream is definitely to have some ability to make sure that everyone on a roleplay server is there with the interest to roleplay. That's simply impossible to enforce in a practical way, so I'm happy to let players not interested in RP identify themselves. Hrisskar, I'm not clear on whether you're calling me a 12 year old, or suggesting I'm accusing all of these non-RP-namer-players of being childish, but neither is true. I'm saying let's focus on things we can manage and enforce. The fact is, most of these goofy-named players are /not/ griefing, or doing anything bad, and I'd rather focus on people actually bothering folks, versus just running around with silly names.
  3. I would even go the next step and ask the ability to report naming violations be removed. I know this is a contentious issue. I used to be a diligent reporter of dumb names on RP servers, until I had a revelation. I was watching a comedian on TV talk about how he wished stupid people in this world had to go around wearing signs so we would know, and not have to deal with them. Well guess what - in MMO's they do! And they self-report! I really don't want Fatspacebarbie and Darth Tub O'butter to change their names, because I know at a glance that I don't want to play with them. It saves me a lot of time and effort and I appreciate these knobs identifying themselves so clearly to me. So again, please stop reporting. Let's all even agree that Bioware doesn't need to enforce the naming policy, because personally, I'd rather they devote the person-power to making this game even more awesome. There will /always/ be trolls and dorks on any game. You simply can't stop them from joining. Switch off general chat, join an RP channel, and move on. Cheers all, Vandai
