  1. heal spec merc, solo'ed Taris. took me a lifetime (15mins maybe? i didfnt time but it was along enough that several little local noobs were able to keep running back - only to be 1 shotted. Wasnt hard, just exhausting! by the end, i felt like i had just done a full Op lol.
  2. to delve quickly into the more nuts and bolts that the previous 2 posters did not hit (they hit it right on for guild atmosphere!). Decide if you would like to provide out of game options for your guildmates. Think about questions such as: VOIP Will you be running Operations and/or Flashpoints? If an RP guild, would you like to be able to verbally RP with the others? If you decide for it, you should look into your options. Start small. 15slot VOIP servers are cheap enough, and can always be upgraded if your find the need. Your choice of which service may want to boil down to the big 2; Ventrilo and Teamspeak, simply for the fact that they are the most common, so it will be easier to have other people join (as the majority of players who are willing to join voip, have at least one, if not both already installed). There are plenty of other options out there, depending on your needs (such as Skype or Dolby Axon) that are outside of the normal thought of gaming VOIP options. Website Would you like to be able to coordinate guild activites outside of game? Would you like to have a calendar so players can see upcoming events? Would you like to keep track - and possibly make it shareable - of guild loot / attendance /points that your guild cares about (such as earning points for RP'ing, mentoring, helping new members etc). Do you want to have an easy place to share screenshots? Any of these alone could be reason enough for you to choose to use a website. Your own personal level of skill with websites, and extra time to invest in creation and upkeep will be your driving force between the different options. Best luck =) Remember, its all about having fun. Sometimes putting in a bit of ground work at the beginning (which isnt fun) will allow you to reap the benefits for a long time to come, and can help alleviate drama ahead of time.
  3. TL;DR the whole 184pg thread but - So we disband our current guild, and then start the server transfer process for the GM and once they are on the destination server they contact CS? How is CS supposed to know what we had, if we disbanded it. Its going to take forever for them to have to investigate every single guild and what it had? As a GL on a dying server, i was looking forward to a smooth guild move. This whole thing looks like its better to just rot on an origin server. At least this way, *if* decent content brings anyone back in months or years, at least we still have a home together.

    Arizona woot!

Chandler area here! Any of you AZ players still around? got about 10 or so AZ players in our guild (founded by AZ, merged with another AZ guild) and we raid AZ timezone =p server: Mandalore the Indomitable (imp side, <Kandosii> ) I wish cross server tells where in this game =/
  5. as a GL and a prospective member, i always like to see posts with clear and concise information displayed in a good clearn layout. (ya, this post may not have this but) Proper Grammar, punctuation and spelling all go a long way for me. A certain vibe can be attained as to the leadership of a guild by their post. If its totally "Holy LoLzers n00bz" i stay away, as that type of representation imparts something i am not interested in. good suggestions on your list already, esp the not-so-obvious maturity level of the guild. Storytime: A long time ago, i joined a large, friendly and helpful guild with a group of friends. One day, one of my friends said the word "Damn" in one guild message, and "Hell" (referencing the place specifically) in one that followed. He was talked to by the leader and officers and put on probation for it. Needless to say, our group parted ways at the point, as this was too strict for our liking. It had not been covered anywhere, so i didnt even think to ask (my fault). Its now something that i verify with every guild i may join, or any prospective member into one i run. Perhaps also include if VOIP is available, and what the expected uses of it are. Some groups want it mandatory if you are online. others just during raids, etc.
  6. i would like to see more 8man content for pre-level cap. I hope they leave EV, KP and Denova (in the modes they currently come with) the way they are, so that lvl 50 can be where the "end game" can begin for players, with new difficulties (perhaps naming them something different to denote the lvl cap tuned encounters) and then having the new Op start at lvl cap. I am not opposed to the retuning of Nightmare modes however! If they follow the Op plan that was found a while back (the site(s) elude me atm who posted them), then the new ops look like a really good storyline.
  7. i have been using Blizz (10k faction, +1 armstech crit) and my droid with the legacy item that gives him a +2 arms crit. i crafted 23 orange "Custom Sniper Rifles" (the lvl 20 ones) and my skill is 400 arms. Not a single crit. I crafted all of them one after another, with no other companions doing missions nor crafting (this did not appear to affect my odds in the past, but after i crafted 5 with no luck, i gave this a shot). 2 weeks ago, i was averaging 1 in 4.5 crafts of the level 20 "Custom" and lvl 50 "Elegant" weapons. I had the same 1 in 4.5tries for augmented with both levels, and this was regardless of which companion i used. Note, all of my mercencary companions are at 10k faction, completed storylines. My Droid has the legacy bought core module things you buy for 100k from the ship merchant. Definite change. Night and Day. I was able to equip my whole guild with augged pistols, blaster rifles, sniper rifles and their companions as well up until this past week. now, i cant get a crit to save my life regardless of which companion, how many times i send them out, the level of the recipe etc.
  8. my guild typically lacks melee DPS, so this is how we do this fight. Setup: Firebrand group: Jugg Tank (our typical MT) Sorc Heals Merc DPS Sniper DPS Stormcaller: Sin Tank Merc Heals (me) various Ranged DPS (typically combo of Sorc, Merc or sniper) - People with long cast times do well for us, here. ---- For storm, we have our 2 ranged DPS stand on the left corner of the tank platform, basically right up against the turret. We then have our Sin tank (who is on the right corner, basically with his back to where the shield will spawn) move to behind them, to drop the DD on them, then he moves back. Super seemless so long as the dps know not to move, and to be nice and close so there is plenty of room for the tank to run and not fall off. During shield, we CC and burn down the 2 mobs in the shield, while the Sin Tank runs in his pattern to drop the lightning rods. He always finishes the drop back behind our shield, so he is in range at the end of the round, so i can heal him from within the shield. Our DPS run back to position just slightly before the red reticles happen, and then the tank and i follow suit. For DPS, we have all dps, even storm, burning down Fire for the first phase (til the first shield happens). We kill Fire first, everytime. The one time we tried it the other way, his missile bombardment thing killed everyone, as where Storm can be tanked and healed through his enrage pretty easily (we found, ymmv). The firebrand tanks group has a tougher time during the shield phase, as they sometimes get hit with random rods (as others have mentioned) and after they kill their 3 mobs, their shield drops and the whole group takes a large hit. Make sure you watch your DPS while under here to help out the healer. Dont burn them down too fast if your healer is still working to get everyone healed up. Coordinate. We have good luck killing Fire first (we also kill Zorn and Sorno first in other encounters similar to this), so hopefully this helps. We are overgearing these fights however, as most of us are in full rakata, but its more about execution imo.
  9. amen. you forgot without using VOIP too! --- My guild has been doing 8mans for a long time. We cleared EV NMM on our very first try, and got title to boot. We did a 16man EV SM about 1-2 weeks after the EV NMM 8man. It was MUCH different for some bosses, and trash was totally different. SOA was on par (read: easy). XXR3 was a bit more chaotic due to the Storm protocol and sheer number of PC's. Trash was a huge pain compared to 8man NMM, even. New abilities, new strats for handling them and mob resistances that arent there in 8man on any of the difficulties. That being said, it was fun (perhaps slightly more so) because there were so many people there. We seemed to be plagued by lots of DC's and lag all around, but it was still laid back and fun. Even though it was *just* EV SM, people were telling me they felt more challenged during that run then even the EV NMM and that it was neat having to work for it again. I can only hope the populations pick up game wide, or full guild transfers go in as well, so we can do one again.
  10. #1 - yep. us too. #2 is good to know. We normally wait for all to be rezzed and present at any body/chest before we loot in other ops for bosses, but there is the occassional time when someone isnt and the body is looted. They were always able to still get their pieces, however.
  11. (this is not a completely fleshed out idea, but merely to show some numbers and give some examples of what could be looked into, to increase the system, while not increasing the amount that are earnable each week) placing a max earnable total, while then also allowing a larger pool to gather them from could work . You can even break it down to having the bulk of your weekly limit come from Ops, but still giving a few more options to those who are not finishing all the raids each week. Currently, comms are earned as follows (copy/pasted from various sources): There are 7 sources for Black Hole Commendations (that can be completed on a weekly basis): 1. [Weekly] Black Hole Crisis (6 BH Commendations) - Quests 2. [Weekly] Rakghoul Conflicts (8 BH Commendations) - FP 3. [Weekly] Galactic Crisis Points (8 BH Commendations) Op 4. [Weekly] The Nightmare Pilgrim (4 BH Commendations) Op 5. Story Mode Explosive Conflicts (Denova) operation (20 BH Commendations) Op 6. Hard Mode Explosive Conflicts (Denova) operation (28 BH Commendations) Op 7. Nightmare Mode Karagga's Palace operation (12 BH Commendations) Op for a total of: 86 per week Drops by Type (# then % of total, rounded): Ops: 72 = 83.7% FP: 8 = 9.3% Other: 6 = 6.9% They could up the # of sources to attain these, while setting a weekly max, and setting a hardset cap on how many can be earned through a certain way. Make it so that in order to get more then 25% of your weekly total, you had to do it via Ops (anything requiring 8 people or more). 25% is approx 22 comms (rounding up). this is 8 higher then currently allowed.
  12. ya, its a pretty short timeframe too. We had one member go AFK, so since we knew the chests were on a timer we pushed ahead without them. We cleared to it quickly, and looted it about 3mins before he came back from AFK (he went AFK in the zone as well, at the previous boss we beat). By the time he got to the chest, it wouldnt let him loot it either. It kinda stinks, but as far as we can tell, its intended.
  13. as most have said, the biggest hurdle is learning the mechanics. If you do not have them right, even being in full rakata will not help you push through bad strats, poor placement and timing, and people not paying attention/listening/working hard. You will notice your group will hit a wall on a particular encounter, and then its time to tweak what you are doing. then Boom, you go from hitting a wall at 80% each try to getting them all the way the next by just figuring out a specific mechanic. Carrying a few players through a Story is not out of the realm of possible depending on the gear makeup and skill of everyone else.
  14. didnt read most of ths thread (its a lot of infighting), but other games have been able to sucessfully tranfers one entire server directly into another, including guilds, character inventory, player housing and all that that includes, and every single toon regardless of when it was last logged in with minimal issues. Simply offering a single toon by toon transfer to another server is not worth it for those of us who still have working, and active guilds. We loose the guild and members, all the money used to buy the guild bank tabs, the setup of the guild (not that redoing ranks takes alll that long, but still, its more hassle then its worth). Maybe i am oldschool, but even though i have not played EQ1 in 5yrs, i still like the fact that no matter what merges, transfers, moves (or any other version of a toon being on one server, then being on another), i can still log in, and my toons are all still there, with all of their AA's, inventories, learned spells etc. I have gone back to quite a few old games years later, because i knew my toons would always be there. Every way its being sliced, without the concrete official facts in hand, this feels like its putting the player at a heavy disadvantage. "Move or have your toon's plug pulled" - really? thats some peoples suggestion!? Bioware, take the reigns and make a definitive move. Allow full guild transfers. Have all toons on a particular server moved, not just 1 (or each one needing to have the move process individually requested). Character names get priority based on creation date, then last played and active sub. Dont just allow people to slowly trickle off of a server, or end up having to pay later if they miss the few week window (people take longer vacations in summer time you know). I am still baffled why they felt creating new servers to combat high population was better then just having multiple instances of fleet. If this game is supposed to be all about the community, why does it feel that we are all so segregated?
  15. i too would like more space on the condensed guild window (most people do not look at the larger, Guild Details window) so that it doesnt end up looking like a bunch of capital letters all smoothed together just to make it visible.. ""Tues & Wed 7:30pm: ECSM EVNMM KPNMM + L2Raid EV&KPSM." thats typically what they look like, and what i just typed would not fully appear either. Our guild description barely holds the VOIP info and website addy. A third line would be sooo helpful, without cluttering things. Or perhaps individual boxes you can insert things like VOIP and website info, where it will stay and is easy to see?
