Hey TUXs,

Unfortunately, I don't think Makeb quite fits your specific requests. As I stated previously, it offers similar open world PvP to other same faction planets in our game.

I would be curious to hear your thoughts on the Relics of the Gree event. This was definitely a step forward for us in creating an event which had incentives for Open World PvP.

As Chuixupu said, something like what you were describing would be something we would definitely have an announcement around and we have no information right now on any systems like that for Makeb.

Hey Lucotas,

If you are on a PvP server, Makeb is like any other shared Faction planet where you can participate in open world pvp.

I wonder when it is too... OH WAIT I KNOW!

Here are the details! Game update 1.7.2 is going live with tomorrow morning's maintenance! That's right, you will be playing the Gree Event once again within 24 hours. Also since I know this will come up, the Gree Event will be running from March 12th - March 26th.

There are some other things I wanted to keep all of you apprised of as well. Aside from the Golden Scalene Armor being embargoed from the Cartel Market, so are a few other items. They are:
  • Dire Taskmaster's Robe
  • Dire Overlord's Vestments
  • Dire Warmaster's Body Armor
  • Dire Eliminator's Chestguard
  • Guard Captain's Chestplate
  • CZ-27k Stealth Ops Suit
  • CZ-18x Avalanche Chestplate
  • Honored Master's Vestments
  • Honored Champion's Robe
  • Honored Sabarist's Harness
  • Honored Adept's Shroud
  • MA-52 Med-tech Chestplate
  • Emergency Responder's Overcoat
  • MA-53 Overwatch Chestplate
  • Jawagram "I Love You"
  • Jawagram "It's A Surprise"

One last thing I wanted to tease... Make sure you check out the Gree Event vendor. You will see what I think is the coolest looking mount in our game to date. Like, seriously it is amazing.

3. Who is your acting supervisor and how would we contact him if you abused your power?

4. Can we vote on if we can keep certain trolls?

Now I know this may sound like i'm attacking you or distrust you (I do, I trust very few people) but i've seen power abused by many people in positions of authority and believe that we must keep a system of checks and balances in place to keep that from happening. I also believe in very specific guidelines in place so people understand what and how they violated rules.
I have answers!

1. Interestingly, it is hard for me to actually provide you a specific example without breaking forum rules. Something that will skip you right over a warning is something that honestly, should be blatantly obvious to anyone is something that is a breach of the rules. As a general statement, something like making a death threat, etc. is something that is of the severity that could do this. However, note that something like that is an extreme example, use your best judgement. If it is something that is a very egregious breach of the rules, it could get you an infraction.

2/3. I have the same answer to both of these. The person that is reviewing disputes is never the same person as the one who gave you an infraction. We do this so that we have our own systems of checks and balances.

4. We will all have our "beloved" trolls and as a part of the new rules we are going to be less strict about this. However, if someone is breaking rules, they will be actioned appropriately.

Hopefully I covered your questions. As theUndead mentioned, I can't exactly spell out all of our policies in depth, but that should hopefully cover your concerns.

It's just another SWTOR Monday....

Okay I won't do that anymore Anyways! It's time for the Question of the Day:

If you could pit two SWTOR characters against each other in a fight, who would you choose? Who would win?

Personal Answer: I would love to see a show down between Grand Moff Kilran and Jace Malcom, the Republic Trooper from our Cinematics. While Jace is awesome and definitely a force to be reckoned with, I think the Butcher of Coruscant would win this battle - mainly because he isn't afraid to fight dirty and as a sniper, he really packs a punch. Also, he is my favorite (non-companion) NPC so I have to give him the win.

Hey Joesixxpack,

You will always receive a PM if any of your posts warranted a warning, infraction, or permaban. So if you haven't received a PM, you are in the clear.

Missing Heroic Space Mission | 03.11.2013, 10:39 AM
Hi folks,

I just wanted to pop in to give a bit more clarification about Heroic Space Combat missions, because there seems to be some confusion:

1. The mission for the day is available at 6AM CST (4AM PST/7AM EST/12PM GMT/1PM CET/11PM AEDT)
2. That mission is then available until 6AM CST (4AM PST/7AM EST/12PM GMT/1PM CET/11PM AEDT) the following day.
3. If you did not do the mission from the previous day, it will no longer be in your mission log, meaning these are not missions that can be collected and then completed on the last day of the week. They cycle daily rather than "reset" weekly.

Additionally, the following is the current schedule for Heroic Space Combat missions:

Tuesday - Far Cradle Strike (Imp) / Regnant Station (Rep)
Wednesday - Kabal Station Defense (Imp) / Ardis Outpost Fortification (Rep)
Thursday - Kanz Minefield (Imp) / New Covar Ice Field (Rep)
Friday - Duma Strike (Imp) / Baros Ambush (Rep)
Saturday - Lorta Escort (Imp) / Hypori Escort (Rep)
Sunday - Cha Raaba Assault (Imp) / Thanium Disruption (Rep)
Sunday - Operation Foe Smasher (Imp) / Operation Clean Sweep (Rep)

For balance, we have decided to move one of the Sunday unlocks to Monday at some point in the future; I'll be looking into that and will update with more info as soon as possible.

I'm currently looking into what the OP has said now, but if you feel that there's a bug or issue knowing all of the information above, please post in this thread with your details so we can investigate. Have fun out there!

I am just asking, as many german players were expecting that the german and french parts of the forums would turn into a lawless territory, with the two community managers gone.

But if you change the rules, you might want to at least tell the whole community about it.

We unfortunately made that post close to the end of the day on Friday, we are actively working on getting it translated as we speak. Should be up today or tomorrow.

Example: 3 points (with never expire on them). From the earlier days when you had different point scales and different rules on expirations of infractions.

Not sure how (or if) you intend to address this... but I wanted to point it out... as it does not fit well with your 5/10/15 thresholds and it's bound to trigger some issues for you in the future. Or, maybe not.
The math still technically works even in the new system. If you had 3 points in the old system, you will still need 3 more infractions and will hit each benchmark the same. Since from 3 you will go to 8, 13, 18. (so you will hit the 5, 10, and 15 point infraction breakpoints the same).

Although already answered in the thread I just want to reconfirm that if you reach 15 points it only affects your ability to post on the forums and nothing else.

When something is done by the CommunitySupport account it means it was done by someone on the Community team. That is a general account that all of us use.

Thanks for details on the new forum rules, and thanks again for the community team's updated philosophy on communicating with the players.
Your examples are spot on as to what you probably shouldn't do. Things like posting links to screenshots and videos are ok in some circumstances but these types of things should never be done in a negative way (similar to your prior examples).

We certainly give the server forums a little more leeway in this regard but I think as long as everyone remains respectful with their intent, you will be ok.

One specific thing I want to call out is claims of exploiters/hacking etc, including the posting of screenshots and videos. These types of posts do break the rules and are not acceptable but, if you ever feel that someone is using a hack or an exploit, please report them to CS. That is the appropriate channel for something like that.

Your three strike rule can easily be abused by people claiming to be "offended" by something when they're really not.

I hope you make the more appropriate decision here.

(On a side note: I'm not talking about infractions that are blatantly deserved. IE people racially // sexually harassing someone. I'm talking about infractions that have to do with trying to get a point across and you (the moderator) didn't appreciate it because it's negative feedback towards the development teams decisions. Instead, that feedback should be used as a wake up call. Many players here want this game to succeed and make a gigantic turn around, but if it's viewed that anything negative is just earning someone an infraction... this will not keep the paying subs here.)
Your concern over people claiming to be "offended" by something when they're not is something I wanted to touch on. Just because someone reports a post by no stretch means they are automatically warned or infracted. You would be surprised by the volume of posts that are reported that we "no action" as something which did not break any rules.

Also, there will not be a time where we simply warn or infract someone because they spoke negatively of our game or a developer as long as that remains constructive. This forum is a place for discussion, and that discussion will of course include things that are negative.

What we will not allow, and we will continue to action, is personal attacks against developers, but this rule is no different than anything else as we do not allow that kind of behavior between forum users. You are allowed to be negative as long as you remain respectful and we absolutely will use that feedback to pass on to our development team!

Not that they're bad, but as long as they don't seem to be getting a rise out of anyone (like, getting any persons mad) then leave them be. Some near-bashful threads/posts can be constructive at times.

Also—one question. Any previous infractions placed on anyone's account can't message for it to be reversed for any reason whatsoever?
I guess the short answer here is that if you have already attempted to dispute and if the dispute was denied then yes, the infraction will stand. We are looking to change the rules moving forward and not looking behind.

Here come the multi-boxers >.< | 03.08.2013, 05:34 PM
Personally I didn't realize /follow had been removed from WoW. It’s an interesting move on Blizzard’s part and (now that I ask internally) we are already looking at any possible negative aspects that might occur if multi-boxing within SWTOR was to become a ‘thing’. I'll be clear that certain ways of technically implementing multi-boxing are very much against the Terms of Service, so I would suggest erring on the side of caution and not depend on existing functionality staying static...

Yes, a single infraction will result in a 3 day suspension. However to reiterate, unless it is a severe violation, you will always receive a warning before receiving an infraction.

Warnings do not have a time limit/expire but this doesn't mean you couldn't receive more than one warning before getting an infraction.

Let's Talk Forum Rules | 03.08.2013, 03:57 PM
Hey everyone,

As I am sure many of you have noticed, it has been the Community Team's goal to try a new direction in communication. We are aiming to speak with you more, in a more casual way, and with more information.

Some of you may have then wondered "what does this new approach mean for forum rules?" Actually, maybe none of you were asking that, but I am going to answer it anyway. The reason? Because that is going to change a bit as well.

Before I explain specifics I want to stress what our goals are for these forums. The forums are meant to be a place where people can come, express their opinions and have constructive discussions without fear of attack or harassment. Please always keep this in mind! Let's talk details:

Where we will be more lenient:
  • General "internet" style chatter. In the past we have been pretty harsh about some things, such as calling someone a "troll" or throwing out a "can I have your stuff?". We would remove these types of posts and they could possibly incur a warning or an infraction. In general, we are going to let this slide a bit more, but honestly you shouldn't be doing this in the first place. Just be respectful to each other.
  • Things that are usual forum "nonos" like bumping a thread or "necroing" an old post. We are not going to go as crazy actioning these types of things. That doesn't mean we won't just delete them with no notice. Again, don't do them, because if you are being disruptive, it can still lead to actions being taken against your account.
  • Posts that are often reported for trolling. These types of posts are not always the most constructive or involve direct feedback, but as long as they remain harmless and in good spirits we will err on the side of leaving them be.
Where we will continue to be very strict:
  • Any type of post or thread that is political or religious and this also includes analogies of the same type. I know some folks will not understand why we have this rule in place. The problem is that when you make a comparison which is religious or political in nature, it almost always derails that discussion into a religious or political one, which is something that just serves no purpose here. So please stay away from these types of posts as they will continue to be removed and will almost always include a warning or infraction.
  • Threads and responses that are vulgar or sexual in nature.
  • Threads where the only subject is another game or is very off-topic. At the end of the day this is still a STAR WARS: The Old Republic forum and so all threads should revolve around our game.
  • Callouts of any kind are strictly not permitted. This includes calling out specific players and guilds. To get one step further, even posts that appear to have good intent ("List of known ninja looters!") are still in violation of this rule and are not permitted. We want everyone to feel that the forums are a safe place for them and this type of post only serves to harass other players.
  • Intentionally posting false information in the hopes of "stirring up" the community. If it is very clear you have made a post with the intent of lying about facts in order to create disorder, your post will be removed and you will be actioned for it. This type of behavior only serves to incite negative reactions from our forum users.
  • Discussion of moderation is still not allowed.
New Infraction/Warning Structure

With our new policies in place on *what* we will action against, we are also making similar changes to our warning and infraction system. Although we are giving you a bit more freedom in what you can say, if you continually cross those lines you will be actioned appropriately.

In most cases, your first violation will net you a warning. This warning will remind you of what you have done and will act as a friendly reminder to avoid this type of behavior. (For severe violations, a user may skip receiving a warning and go right to an infraction.)

After you have received a warning, if you do something else which violates our forum rules, you will receive an infraction. All infractions are now worth 5 points each and suspensions will work as follows:

5 points - 3 day suspension
10 points - 7 day suspension
15 points - Permanent ban

TLDR: We want to provide the opportunity for all of you to be able to express your opinions, even disagreements, in a way that does not have you in fear of being reprimanded. However, even with this leeway we will not tolerate players making hurtful statements, harassing, or directly attacking each other in a way that is not constructive.

One thing I need to make very clear is that even with this change in forum rules, this does not change any warnings or infractions that you received previously. All of those will still stand and will not be reversed based on the new rules.

I hope that all of this makes sense as I tried to spell it out as clearly as I could.

-eric and the Community Team
